Sorry Horehound Confused

bananacakeZ · 22/03/2020 16:30

Sunshine I know, instinct tells me I'm right, but I'm the only one I know in real life not zipping out in their car to the shops 2-3 times a day, not seeing their mother today, and not letting my child go anywhere. I'm so, so grateful for this thread because I doubt myself on an average day and would otherwise believe I may be going crazy.

Angryrant55 · 22/03/2020 16:32

The 11 deaths are just the seven new ones in wales (five in one hospital), three in scotland and one in nothern ireland.

picklemewalnuts · 22/03/2020 16:33

My brother wants to see my mum next week. She's struggling with isolation, and I don't think he's any more of a risk than the painter, the estate agent, the cleaner or the gardener.

Givemeabreakpls · 22/03/2020 16:35

Thanks Angry. I admit I was a bit hopeful that the number had started to decline.

Rainbowunicat · 22/03/2020 16:36

@Horehound worldometer doesn't update straight away, people on here seem to know them first. If someone can tell me the best place to look them I'll look there instead.

Angryrant55 · 22/03/2020 16:36

Jeremy Cliffe - 'German federal & state governments agree to ban gatherings of over 2 people (excluding household groups) instead of introducing a full curfew.

The thinking seems to be focusing on “stay alone” over “stay home” is more sustainable over a prolonged period.'

theskyispurple · 22/03/2020 16:38

My son works in b&q... I just collected him from work - apparently this was their busiest day... 100%over expected sales.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/03/2020 16:41

What are the Germans doing about keyworkers and schools?

AvocadoOwl · 22/03/2020 16:42

If someone can tell me the best place to look them I'll look there instead.

If you follow @DHSCgovuk on Twitter and choose to receive alerts from them you get a message with the daily figures once they are released (the 2pm update that never happens at 2pm).

CharlieTangoBanana · 22/03/2020 16:43

Thank you for the new thread. I had to step away for a while but have been reading and of course following the figures and news.

It's harrowing I am so afraid and even spoke to DH about making a suicide pact.

I am still battling pneumonia and will start my fourth week of antibiotics tomorrow. I'm so lucky to have amazing GP's who are in contact by phone, but I feel very afraid.

woodencoffeetable · 22/03/2020 16:45

What are the Germans doing about keyworkers and schools?
secondary schools are closed completely - teachers provide lessons remotely.
primary - schools are open for childcare for key workers only. no teaching. 2 staff in the school to supervise. they get worksheets vial parent email.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/03/2020 16:51

That sounds much more sensible than the UK where in my school (secondary) we have all been asked to go in as we don't know how many students will turn up!

Rainbowunicat · 22/03/2020 16:52

Thanks @avacadoowl, I'll do that.

SistemaAddict · 22/03/2020 16:52

NS talking sense about school places priority. I hope England do the same.

DakotaFanny · 22/03/2020 16:55

Sturgeon is amazing! I wish she was leading England.

ClashCityRocker · 22/03/2020 16:55

Total cases now 5683

ClashCityRocker · 22/03/2020 16:56

281 confirmed dead sadly

danni0509 · 22/03/2020 16:56

Blimey.

middleager · 22/03/2020 16:59

That's chilling.

defthand · 22/03/2020 17:00

I’m having a hard time believing that new cases number. 600 v 1000 yesterday, whilst still far too early for our (weak) social distancing measures to have kicked in? Viruses don’t behave like this.

Starting to feel like a random number generator.

kirinm · 22/03/2020 17:00

Is that less than yesterday?

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2020 17:00

Is that the UK, @ClashCityRocker?

LambriniSocialist · 22/03/2020 17:00

Where have you got the number of deaths from?

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2020 17:02

Boris speaking shortly.
