^Email from No 10 to research institutions says 'there are no [covid] testing machines to buy' 😬 (h/t Politico)

I know a number of universities have already handed their machines over for testing.

But worry that there are no more left.

IMPORTANT: Growing numbers of @TfL staff are off sick or self-isolating: we cannot run more services than we currently are.

If you have to go to work, please don’t travel at rush hour - go at different times to keep contact to a minimum. #COVID19

This image was apparently from this morning. Notable number of construction workers...

Notable numbers of men.

GingerLemonTea · 24/03/2020 08:23

78 new cases in China. Slight jump Confused

Quartz2208 · 24/03/2020 08:27

74 imported cases though

Quartz2208 · 24/03/2020 08:29

I have to say you do think as an Island we may have an advantage we need to shut down borders as much as we can to reduce imported cases

Number12 · 24/03/2020 08:32

Morning all. Those tube pictures shows that Boris is going to have to go further.

TheCanterburyWhales · 24/03/2020 08:33

Red- those figures about overweight men need going out around the threads where people are STILL banging on about it only affecting 89 year olds with one lung.

I think the issue is that so much of the population is unhealthy. 2/3 of adults overweight.
So many idiots smoking or previously smoking. Even overweight kids.
People having kids up to 40 and beyond. Drinking which losers immune system. Possibly the irony of an overweight nation clearing out the shelves of food (incl sausages and burgers) when we know diabetes is an underlying condition.
I also think millions is spent on the nhs, if we weren't all choosing to be so unhealthy then maybe there would have been more icu beds. With everyone using the people's bad choices are constantly affecting each other it is just more obvious right now. (Incl some idiots choosing to still go on Cruises a few weeks ago and others to fly to EU.)

Morning

Apparently the local town market is setting up pictures on our local FB group!

Day 7 for me, no coughing in the night Grin

Skittlesss · 24/03/2020 09:12

It’s strange how our lives now revolve around watching Boris on BBC1. Grin

TwentyViginti · 24/03/2020 09:22

Skittlesss I thought the same! I don't follow soaps, but tune in avidly for every instalment of Downing Street Grin

Number12 · 24/03/2020 09:23

I am about to lose my shit. One of my neighbors is having work done to their house (they have moved out) there are more people on site today than ever. They have parked their vans all over my property blocking my gates (not in front of our cars). I told them it was private property and they said they just had a wagon reversing in....vans still there after though. Why the fuck is building a house more important at the moment??? I'm very tempted to block them in (I can on my land).

MarshaBradyo · 24/03/2020 09:26

Skit I know it feels very old school analogue! (Using radio here)

How has having a kid at 40 made society more at risk? Would be grateful for an explanation for the completely irrelevant and snidey comment as a person who did indeed have a kid at 40.

The only thing that would be at more risk in this pandemic is my asthma which actually, following the guidelines, doesn't seem to mean I'm vulnerable despite the early assumption asthmatics would be.

AutumnRose1 · 24/03/2020 09:42

What’s having kids over 40 got to do with anything?

Overpopulation a major issue but the age at which people have children isn’t.

IronNeonClasp · 24/03/2020 09:51

JerseyGaly - nice work ! Biscuit

Those pics of the tube this morning Shock

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:09

Matt Honeycombe-Foster - 'New YouGov poll finds Boris Johnson's net favourability now +20 - up from -2 last week.'

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:09

Kevin Schofield - 'Boris Johnson net favourability rating now +20, according to YouGov, up from -2 last week.
But he's been overshadowed by Rishi Sunak, whose rating has gone from -6 at the end of February to +49 now.
Watch that go even higher if he announces help for the self-employed later.'
