Is lockdown coming for us?

Do you really think a proper lockdown is coming for us, just like Italy? My husband is still burying his head in the sand about this. I think it’s a real possibility.

I think it will be announced Monday/Tuesday.

ChickLitLover · 21/03/2020 23:17

I hope it’s coming.

It should have been done much sooner, once it was clear to see that many people in this country are complete fucking idiots and can’t take advice.

allhailthegingerninja · 21/03/2020 23:17

We have to. People aren't listening. People won't listen. They need to be told.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 21/03/2020 23:19

Absolutely needs to happen and I actually think it'll be announced tomorrow. My best friend went to her hairdressers yesterday, had her cleaner come today and couldn't understand why I was vexed at both things (I actually asked her not to go to her hair appointment and cancel her cleaner but pay for both): I have COVID-19 and stayed at hers 4 days before showing symptoms. Now she's got a temperature and one of her children have a cough. In fairness she texted saying I was 'bloody right as usual' but I do wish I wasn't right.

I also had a Facebook rant today about people not understanding what we must do and why. I totally despair!

disneydatknee · 21/03/2020 23:19

I hope so. My husband works in the welfare service for uni halls and although most of them have been sent home, the remaining ones are carrying on as normal, partying with the other flats, taking drugs. Someone last night overdosed on ketamine. Ambulance flatly refused to deal with them. Do they not get that our NHS service is already at breaking point? The sooner they get troops on the streets stopping people doing this kind of shit the better. Loads of fb posts today of familys at beaches and parks like it's a free holiday shocked me. Stay indoors people!!

BunnytheBee · 21/03/2020 23:19

I think lockdown is a good idea because people are not taking the requests to stay indoors seriously

I have furniture paid for and due to arrive next week for my office at home so would like this to arrive before lock down (presumably they won’t deliver if locked down?) as it will help me to work from home but healthy and safety is obviously the number 1 priority

BunnytheBee · 21/03/2020 23:20

I think as gyms, pubs, restaurants have just been closed down a few days ago it would be end of next week if they lock down

BluePheasant · 21/03/2020 23:20

Full lock down means only allowed out for essential reasons. Police/military enforcement as opposed to just assuming the general public will follow advice and not be dicks.

If all those still larking about today like this is a fucking holiday don't like it then they've only got themselves to blame.

WeArnottamused · 21/03/2020 23:22

It needs to, & it needs to be enforced, really hoping that this will mean the elderly, vulnerable & key workers will find food still on the shelves.

I don’t understand why the reality of this is not sinking in - not a brain cell between em

aibuovu · 21/03/2020 23:22

if you think people aren't listening where you live... you should see BradfordSadEnvy

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/03/2020 23:22

Someone shared a form on another thread that the citizens of Italy and France have to use.

The reasons are (iirc):

  • going to you local shop for essential items
  • going to work in an essential job role
  • solo exercise in an outside area close to your home (inc dog walking)
  • assisting someone who cannot help themselves
justasking111 · 21/03/2020 23:22

Reading the stories of packed beaches, mountains today I think will accelerate this decision. The stupid need to be protected from themselves and others.

I hope it is sooner rather than later.

TheQueef · 21/03/2020 23:23

The food situation tells us all we need to know.
People are taking the piss, he needs to act firmly now.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 21/03/2020 23:24

I think we'll have to because people are so stupid and/or arrogant that they aren't listening. My mum comes home on wednesday (long story) and was moaning about what she was going to do all day if she can't go for coffee, to church or her clubs and committees. There is no way she will stay in without a lockdown.

It's so frustrating because having been in self isolation for 9 nights, I'm climbing the walls. I need to be able to go running once my chest improves but because people can't follow simple instructions... although the chances of the police/army patrolling our tiny village is probably zero.

RoseCider · 21/03/2020 23:25

@Frigginella the Army are already near me to help medical staff. They’ve been here since last week.

I do hope the lock down comes soon as people near me aren’t taking one bit of notice of advice given by the government.

BunnytheBee · 21/03/2020 23:25

you should see Bradford

Why? People not staying indoors?

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 21/03/2020 23:26

Loads of pictures today of people sitting outside cafes, technically with takeout but it may as well have been inside the only thing missing was the roof!

Doesn't help that the weather is fine, and its mothers day tomorrow.

Every other country with this many deaths has had lockdown, so why would we be any different. The blond buffoon is getting scared now.

justasking111 · 21/03/2020 23:26

My friend in France says the army are patrolling quiet b roads around her. So coming and going without using some roads is going to be very difficult

letmepeeinpeace · 21/03/2020 23:27

My Facebook is littered with dick heads gathering at pubs for take out beer and food!! It's making me so angry!!

BuzzingtheBee · 21/03/2020 23:28

100%

tangledyarn · 21/03/2020 23:29

Someone on my road suggested in a WhatsApp group closing the road off so all the kids could play together Angry..everyone agreed (apart from me and one other) what a great idea. I have felt terrified since January and I now feel really really angry. Have also spent all week in bed with "mild" suspected covid19 and I've never felt so ill and short of breath in my life ..which I've told them to try and drill home thats it's already flipping everywhere, it's way past time to be taking this seriously. People are insane. So yes we need a lockdown.

maddy68 · 21/03/2020 23:30

I hope so. We have been too slow to react full lock down , knock on the head and get back to normal sooner

Nanalisa60 · 21/03/2020 23:32

I think it will next a Friday!! They won’t want another weekend of people going to the beach or going to the parks.

Heathercob · 21/03/2020 23:32

Hope not - my mare can't feed herself - neither can any of the other horses at work 😱😱😱!

utterlybutterly8 · 21/03/2020 23:33

Thanks @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz.

If we go into lockdown, will we still be able to get deliveries from Amazon and other online shops?

TheQueef · 21/03/2020 23:33

I know of two pubs having lock ins for regulars.
They think it's funny, treating it like a speak easy.
