Is lockdown coming for us?

Do you really think a proper lockdown is coming for us, just like Italy? My husband is still burying his head in the sand about this. I think it’s a real possibility.

I think it will be announced Monday/Tuesday.

I agree. I just despair that it is necessary TBH. Just stay home, how hard is it?

BluePheasant · 21/03/2020 23:00

Yes and the sooner the better. People aren't taking this seriously enough.

BackyardChickens · 21/03/2020 23:01

I know right!

Frankly I hope so, people aren’t complying properly with social distancing and this is dangerous to us all.

teabutter · 21/03/2020 23:01

I don't think so. Maybe in some cities but I don't think it will happen everywhere

RoseCider · 21/03/2020 23:03

Hopefully! People are being dicks and not following the social distancing advice. If they can’t behave then we need lockdown sooner rather than later.

Squintybumcheek · 21/03/2020 23:04

I bloody hope so! A fb friend just posted pics of her dc birthday - loads of kids out in park and climbing all of each other, hugging, kissing and then I see a pic that has her 70 plus mil in it!

HowIrresponsible · 21/03/2020 23:08

Huge group of guys in the park today playing rugby.

Tackling each other etc.

🤦🏼‍♀️

Frigginella · 21/03/2020 23:09

It will be announced on Monday with effect of Tuesday

gluteustothemaximus · 21/03/2020 23:10

Fucking hope so.

PinglePongle · 21/03/2020 23:11

Needs to happen now, people had their chance and couldn't comply

RoseCider · 21/03/2020 23:11

It will be announced on Monday with effect of Tuesday

And this information comes from?

wildthingsinthenight · 21/03/2020 23:12

Yes and it can't come soon enough

TheQueef · 21/03/2020 23:12

God I hope so.
Total not just London.

Aveisenim · 21/03/2020 23:12

I fucking hope so to be honest.

utterlybutterly8 · 21/03/2020 23:13

What’s the difference between lockdown and what we have now?

GarlicSoup · 21/03/2020 23:13

Hope so

SinglePringle · 21/03/2020 23:14

I think it will happen but I think we’ll get another half hearted ‘now look guys, this really isn’t cricket. Would you mind awfully trying to stay away from each other? You can go out but you can’t go out out’ message from ‘I want to be everyone’s friend’ Johnson on Tuesday. Then Lockdown on announces Friday to start 6pm Saturday next week. Easier to start it on on Sunday.

Menopauseandteensdontmix100 · 21/03/2020 23:15

Ourselves and teens are following advice. But lots of teens aren’t and are still meeting up and hanging about roaming around in big groups.
Also lots of over 70’s also flouting the rules.

UYScuti · 21/03/2020 23:15

Will be all be locked at once or region by region?

BlackandWhiteCat0 · 21/03/2020 23:15

I fucking hope so

Frigginella · 21/03/2020 23:15

@RoseCider my intuition. Sorry should have been more obvious it’s just my opinion, plus tips that the army are mobilising on Tuesday from squadsie wives

Frigginella · 21/03/2020 23:17

@utterlybutterly8 no more fortnightly blow dries for OAPs. No more frantic buying every other day at the supermarket. Playgrounds not packed out with bored kids on day 1 of no school etc etc

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/03/2020 23:17

What’s the difference between lockdown and what we have now?

Stricter controls on movement outside of the home. Stronger police (and possibly military) presence on the streets. Likely some form of proof of trips outside the home (work pass, dated and timed note of where you intend to go).

Possibly additional legal powers to detain someone purposefully flouting the rules.

Shopping centres closed. Schools reduced to two key workers. Definition of key worker narrowed.

Busses stopped (apart from to supermarkets hospitals etc).

Cafes and restaurants currently doing in store take out are forced to stop this and only do contactless delivery.

Could be any number of the above.

Waitingforadulthood · 21/03/2020 23:17

Utterly- one of my fb friends posted today a photo of her and her mates with cans of cider- "when you need a catch up but pubs are shut- bench it is!! #stay classy"

I despair,, but really, true lockdown is necessary
