Today I have seen a neighbour returning from the shops with about 5 clothes bags. A hairdressers over the road with loads of people in having their hair and nails done. And the pub up the road was still open with about 50 punters in tonight.

AIBU to wonder why they think they are immune to catching the virus with a 20% chance of ending up in hospital?

Meanwhile my dd is a doctor who is putting her life on the line to treat these selfish idiots when they inevitably get ill.

Maybe why people aren’t taking it seriously because the powers that be aren’t.

Is that why you’re not taking it seriously? Because your government aren’t? Because you’ve had enough explanation on this thread to help you decide that it is serious and that you should take it seriously- so if after all that you aren’t taking it seriously it’s nothing to do with your governments apathy and entirely to do with the fact that YOU just don’t want to take it seriously.

@ememem84 yes if you said you would avoid all inessential contact with people that would be fantastic. That would be social distancing the thing we’re all supposed to be doing.

Jere is how you tell.

Do I have to go to work? Yes if my employer says I have to/I can’t work from home/I am a frontline worker

Do I have to go for afternoon tea? No. So I don’t go.

And repeat. For as long as it takes.

Okay to do: walks on your own or with those who live with you away from other people,
Work if you absolutely have no other choice,
Doctors or pharmacy to get medicine,
Shopping to get essential food only - and try to do enough to last you a few days so you’re not going every day.

Everything else: NO.

Schools are only open for emergency childcare for key workers who have no other option

There is another thread on here where the key worker nursery/daycare place is being taken despite the key workers DH being home all day because the lazy bastard cant be bothered to look after his own kid!!

Do you know his circumstances or is that your considered opinion? Hmm?

Life does go on.
To an extent.

Things don’t just stop.
Er...they might well do.

Just think about it.
