Good, about bloody time

BackyardChickens · 20/03/2020 17:15

Is it just London or all of Britain?

mynameiscalypso · 20/03/2020 17:15

All

BackyardChickens · 20/03/2020 17:16

Crikey

Miljea · 20/03/2020 17:16

And it appears there is a Magic Money Tree....

HoldMyLobster · 20/03/2020 17:16

Good. I'm sorry for the people who will lose their jobs. But it's absolutely the right decision.

Time now for the government to unveil its plan for how people who've lost their jobs will be looked after financially. They've got one, right?

HoldMyLobster · 20/03/2020 17:17

Meanwhile... In a message to staff on Thursday night, Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow said it had no critical care capacity left and was contacting neighbouring hospitals about transferring patients who need critical care to other sites.

Wow the chancellor is showing the leadership and strength so lacking in our PM.

(And I say this as a Labour Party member)

PepePig · 20/03/2020 17:23

About time. Thank god.

VivaLeBeaver · 20/03/2020 17:23

He definitely said month. About time.

lyralalala · 20/03/2020 17:23

The employee retention scheme paying 80% of wages up to £2500 for some employers will really help a lot of people

There was a lot of info in it so I got a bit lost, but there's money for wages to encourage companies to keep staff on the books (I assume that will be because it's easier to pay the company a big chunk than 20 individuals)

What did they say about gyms? I'm only following the BBC news website and it says gyms to follow suit. It would be madness if they were allowed to stay open now.

NotDisclosedToday · 20/03/2020 17:28

Shit. Hold the press. They found Jezzas money forest. Anybody got the postcode?

notangelinajolie · 20/03/2020 17:28

Finally, about bloody time.
And yay to the wages scheme. DH found out this morning his employer had cut every ones wages by 20%. Hoping that cut now won't happen.

Justgivemethehobnobs · 20/03/2020 17:28

I'm so relieved! This is long overdue.

Curious78 · 20/03/2020 17:29

I had a little cry watching the announcements today. I think the enormity of it all has just hit home.

Megan2018 · 20/03/2020 17:29

Gyms to close. Everything to close. Loads of financial help.

It’s not a magic money tree-it’s basically the war budget.

Justgivemethehobnobs · 20/03/2020 17:29

@evilharpy gyms also to close

lubeybooby · 20/03/2020 17:29

I wish businesses had held on a bit to see what measures were happening. it was obvious there would have to be something like this. I will be able to keep going now. Plus help for renters and self employed too. Well done Rishi.

Those still unhappy with the measures - keep pressuring your MP for universal basic income? and please look into the small business grants too soon as the full info is available.

fishonabicycle · 20/03/2020 17:29

I've just seen a pic of my stepson and his friends (back from India this morning) grinning in the pub. Fucking moron.

Marieo · 20/03/2020 17:30

I dont know why people are sneering about the 'magic money tree', this is going to be for the benefit of low earners mainly. I think it's fantastic, and hopefully people will adhere to the closures.

HoldMyLobster · 20/03/2020 17:31

Good! I hope that takes the pressure off employers and employees.

UnitDare · 20/03/2020 17:31

I've never voted conservative in my life but feel they're making a decent fist of this. In the nick of time.

Chloemol · 20/03/2020 17:31

Good about time
