Is there a Downing Street address today and does anyone know when please?

Oakmaiden · 22/03/2020 11:10

12 deaths in Wales. We only have a population of about 3.5 million...

kirinm · 22/03/2020 11:16

Can I just say, whilst these threads are useful, they did also terrify me. I had a news / coronavirus free day yesterday and I felt much calmer. It probably isn't a bad idea to give yourself one day off because the world is quite a frightening place at the moment.

AvocadoOwl · 22/03/2020 11:17

@AutumnRose1 news special scheduled on BBC for 16:10 so I assume the briefing itself is at the usual weekday time.

bananacakeZ · 22/03/2020 11:31

Have you seen the guardian article about Skegness?

WTAF??!

Darwin was really onto something...

ajandjjmum · 22/03/2020 11:34

I can't believe that simple 10 minute tests can be bought from a company in Derby. Come on Boris - this has to be done! Order their total supply and get as many people as possible tested asap.

There is no decision to make.

AvocadoOwl · 22/03/2020 11:37

A decision not to use the 10 minute tests was taken due to reliability concerns if I recall correctly.

Number12 · 22/03/2020 11:42

Has anyone seen the speech by Dr Emily Lando , its fantastic it should be everywhere.

SistemaAddict · 22/03/2020 11:43

Please can someone post the graph showing the numbers of cases for here and Italy? I can't find it and want to show dd

Youngatheart00 · 22/03/2020 11:45

Sitting in the garden, chilly but bright sunshine. Really does make the world of difference. Hope all on this thread get to see a bit of that today. Flowers

ajandjjmum · 22/03/2020 11:50

I didn't know that AvocadoOwl - if that is a genuine concern for PHE, why the devil aren't the company in question banned from offering them as Covid-19 tests?

Thank you for the info though Smile

ajandjjmum · 22/03/2020 11:51

For the first time in my life I've been potting seedlings Youngatheart00 - hopefully some good will come of this dreadful situation. Smile

Darwin was definitely onto something.
I can see the junction of the main road and a side road from my window and there's loads of cars going by. People are fucking stupid and I'm getting very angry. One of the problems is that they didn't close schools until Friday so people are thinking they have been in contact all week so might as well continue.
I'm sad but glad they've shut the NT places. It was a stupid idea to keep the gardens open in nice weather as people were bound to flock there.

I'm enjoying a nice Mother's Day day with a cup of tea in the garden. It's been a long time since I've sat outside but it's lovely today. I got breakfast in bed too and the older dc had bought me presents. I've spoken to my mum and will FaceTime her later on with the dc. Moonpig came through for me on the cards. I'd never used them before and was glad of the service. Mum is widowed and lives alone so today will hit her hard. I wonder how many idiots will still be out and about doing Mother's Day stuff today? Lots of pubs and cafes offering the away services but the queueing raises questions there and I expect they will be shut down soon too.

Lockdown is coming I'm sure.

Youngatheart00 · 22/03/2020 11:56

Yes I think a few of us previously not at all green fingered might get into gardening over the next few months! DH has mowed the lawn today and so there’s a lovely smell of cut grass and the birds are singing.

WhoWants2Know · 22/03/2020 12:07

I'm starting off some garlic today and having a dig through my seed box.

woodencoffeetable · 22/03/2020 12:15

my balcony (have no garden) will certainly safe our sanity.
have started some seeds and pruned the roses and hibiscus.

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 22/03/2020 12:22

Can I prune roses now? They're straggly.

woodencoffeetable · 22/03/2020 12:23

yes, it's a tiny bit late (usually Feb is a good time, before new growth starts) but you can thin them out now.

AutumnRose1 · 22/03/2020 12:27

Avocado thank you.

SistemaAddict · 22/03/2020 12:27

My bush definitely needs a trim.

SistemaAddict · 22/03/2020 12:28

Nothing like a good pruning session to make you feel better.

SistemaAddict · 22/03/2020 12:28

It's weedwhacker seasonGrin

TootsieTweets · 22/03/2020 12:30

I need a gardener.
