@mrshoho have more wine for me. Evidently drinking for two is not a thing.

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 22:15

RTB I might not have always agreed with you on other threads but I did generally consider your posts to be well balanced.

However, non this subject you’re scaremongering with the best of them.

On threads like this all it achieves is making those who don’t think it’s serious, even more sceptical, and scaring the shit out of those who are already worried.

mrshoho · 21/03/2020 22:18

@selfisolatingsince2007 get home soon. sorry you are stuck out there. xx

Number12 · 21/03/2020 22:19

@selfisolatingsince2007 have you decided what go do yet, stay or come home?

Horehound · 21/03/2020 22:24

@tryingtoprep yes, I called him out on if and apparently it was light-hearted Confused my arse it was!

Re. Our government I am sure they are rubbing their hands with glee about all these pensions they don't need to pay anymore and all these houses which will flood the market since all the oldies will have pope's their cloggs. It's disgusting

tryingtoprep · 21/03/2020 22:29

Sadly I know people with the it's nothing that bad attitude too. Infuriating.

Our government are spectacularly stupid if they think all the younger voters will vote for them. People over 50 (in any generation) are more likely to vote conservative. I doubt anyone wants to vote for the government that killed their parents and grandparents either. Perhaps Johnson hasn't realised that Starmer (assuming Labour decide to save the party by ejecting him as their new leader) is much more electable than Corbyn. I thought he was meant to be bright.

tobermoryisthebestwomble · 21/03/2020 22:30

@willdoitinaminute Critical Care units have been asked to expand their capacity by 3* so your area can expect to have 75 beds when the scaling up is complete. staffing these beds safely will not be easy and the specialist equipment is not in place (although has been promised). An additional complication will be how long covid patients stay on ITU, with the average patient needing to stay for 20 days

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 22:32

Bear what red writes does neither for me.

We are all responsible for ourselves!

Imagine allowing this to run rampant purely because they want to cull the elderly 🤔😂🤣. Shut colleges down, bleed money out... Wreck economy all becsuse the elderly are expensive.

I'd love some wine tonight but pre Tuesday last week I was hitting my covid wine stash rather hard so I've had to pull back.

Have a good glug for me!!

selfisolatingsince2007 · 21/03/2020 22:35

@Number12 probably couldn't afford to come home sooner, BA want roughly 4x the price we paid for return flights each to go one way. Travel insurance won't cover it because the government have only issued advice, and there are no border restrictions on either side.

Just looked though and BA are stopping flights as of march 26, which means our flight is still going ahead. God I hope that doesn't change, otherwise they don't have anything for a month and I'll be too pregnant to fly, and my travel insurance doesn't cover for pregnancy past 34 weeks.

I will kill my husband... if we get stuck here.

tryingtoprep · 21/03/2020 22:37

Ugh typos. *Electing, not ejecting!

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 22:41

Trying to prep, Boris is known for delegating. He has two chiefs advising him.
A political. He has deferred to these men and one of them, Sir Patrick's, happens to be very wide of the the mark compared to rest of the world..
I have a feeling Boris unwilling listened to sir Patrick and his doom advise, herd immunity, letting it run through.... Spring next year etc.

As days gone on, we've been wildly out of step with world .. Sir Patrick is now on the ropes, he's been pummeled behind the scenes!
He's much humbler and more nervous now.

So i can't blame Boris for this. Boris own natural optimism is now coming through with the 12 weeks idea but it's too late!!

It's too fucking late!!

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 22:41

I think if this govt is trying to 'nudge' us into locking ourselves down without being told, they've screwed up badly as that's not what's happening. FFS they need to lock the country down NOW. What are they waiting for? It's already too late to prevent the number of deaths that will come. I just don't understand their 'tactics'.

Horehound · 21/03/2020 22:42

My brother is in Cambodia and Thailand have just closed all transit links so now he doesn't know how he will get to the airport. And BA have Suspended all flights until 28th. His flight is 29th and he thinks it's going to be ok. I'm trying to tell him it probably won't be since nothing will have improved in that time, and if anything, wil be worse!
I actually don't know how he is going to get home..

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 22:44

Crunchy I agree.
I honestly feel its this sir Patrick and his stupid model!

They've gone down the wrong track.

As for the poster who has to squash into staff room, please don't!

Ask to have meeting some where open!

@Angryrant55 looking into those figures it was the picture last thursday

@colouringinpro what have you seen?

So wet Italy... We surely won't have as many deaths because their population is much older?

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 23:07

Sorry it’s the Daily Mail. But this is atrocious.

Oh God that's a tough read, Petiolaris. So terrible.

That daily mail article's too upsetting to read. Those poor poor people. At that stage would not the kinder thing to do be giving them something to bring about a quicker painless death? I know I'd prefer that for myself and my loved ones. If the worst case scenario of no ICU for everyone I certainly hope this will happen.
