Whilst I'm not saying a lockdown won't happen, stop scaremongering.

You are pretty low. Eithier name sources or piss off.

OP posts:
JimmyGrimble · 18/03/2020 21:20

The mayor of London says that there are plans in place to lockdown London quite soon. Sorry.

Windyone · 18/03/2020 21:21

@HeresMe Yes! It’s ridiculous

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 21:21

JimmyGrimble is there an official source or does he own your hamsters second cousin or something?

They're hardly going to do without a big announcement, are they?

PurpleDaisies · 18/03/2020 21:22

jimmy there are a load of people saying their friend in the army/some high ranking official told them in secret that London will be forcibly locked down on the weekend.

It’s deeply unhelpful and entirely fake news.

TooManySocks · 18/03/2020 21:23

It's sensible to accept a lockdown is highly likely and may happen very soon.

Windyone · 18/03/2020 21:23

@JimmyGrimble. Can you post the link to that please. Thanks

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 21:24

Also these people are not helping.
Londoners- young ones with families elsewhere- will piss off out of London and spread Covid everywhere.
So well done for putting peoples lives at risk with your tasty gossip.

lubeybooby · 18/03/2020 21:26

Lockdown will happen but it's nothing to worry about. You can still go out for shopping, work if you can't wfh, medical care, and to walk a dog or for health walk in open spaces 1 hr a day

You're not going to be cooped up in a cupboard for weeks

Bouledeneige · 18/03/2020 21:48

Well it is inevitable whether it's announced on Friday, Saturday or next week. The numbers of infection are rising faster than hoped so I'm thinking sooner rather than later. And it's in the Financial Times - hardly a gossip factory!

Cohle · 18/03/2020 21:53

Well to be fair it is being reported in pretty reputable sources.

The telegraph is saying "London is braced for lockdown as sources close to the Mayor's office say they expect a shutdown of the capital in the coming days."

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/03/18/london-braces-lockdown-government-prepares-emergency-coronavirus/amp/

It seems like it is being strategically leaked to soften the ground.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/03/2020 21:55

It is definitely being strategically suggested to soften the ground

London is going into lockdown before Monday

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 21:55

Strategically leaking it is a shitty thing to do.
People will go "home" and spread it everywhere. Just like in Spain and Italy.

buttermilkwaffles · 18/03/2020 22:01

It's on the Times, Telegraph, FT, Guardian and CNN websites amongst others (although referred to as a partial lockdown by some).

BoJo was asked this in the questions following today’s update. He said curtailing movement would be a major and unprecedented step, but that all options remain under consideration.

It is to soon to say for sure it is happening, or when. But planning is well underway. That doesn’t mean it will happen, but does mean it could,

I think it’ll happen, on the Paris model

LittleRen · 18/03/2020 22:10

Its highly likely London will be locked down, it's the most obvious next step. All the previous rumours/leaks have been true - elderly isolating, schools closing etc

LittleRen · 18/03/2020 22:11

Perhaps if people in London followed the guidance it might not be about to happen.

LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters · 18/03/2020 22:12

Paris is locked down so it's not unlikely

Ineverdidmind · 18/03/2020 22:14

Of course it's going to happen. Why would we be any different to all the other countries in Europe?
It needs to happen and fast. It happened fast in France where my Mum lives and we're only slightly behind. Within the next week would be my guess.

cologne4711 · 18/03/2020 22:15

Lockdown will happen but it's nothing to worry about. You can still go out for shopping, work if you can't wfh, medical care, and to walk a dog or for health walk in open spaces 1 hr a day

Depends if it's a Belgian style lockdown or a French/Italian/Spanish one, where you can only got out for food/medicine/essential work.

jcurve · 18/03/2020 22:19

Exactly as @buttermilkwaffles says. When the FT is reporting it as a done deal, you sit up and listen. It’s not scare mongering.

Given the current complete lack of interest by Londoners in social distancing, I think they’ll have to go for the Spanish version and hopefully it’ll be a short sharp shock rather than a prolonged ever increasing deprivation of liberties.

Confusedasusual78 · 18/03/2020 22:22

Not in the uk, but I’d expect it to happen there pretty soon, surely

Wannabangbang · 18/03/2020 22:23

Its not if but when and i think pretty soon. They aren't telling the world because selfish eejits and at risk areas will on jollies to other areas, especially those that can afford it. I for one hope it happens soon, as everyone is hanging around ij big groups still drinking coffee and sharing food, hoarding in huge numbers at the supermarket, a recipe for Coronavirus soup. All these people mingling and spreading, its time for it to bloody stop!!

Omashu · 18/03/2020 22:23

It’s not scaremongering if the alternative is much scarier. I’m far more worried about us not going into lockdown!!!!
