Thanks for your continued updates @ofwarren massively appreciated and stops me from compulsively news-trawling. Flowers

Also hoping @shanghaidiva is safe and well

Yes and Gpswife and the lady with the daughter who was poorly pineapple?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 17/03/2020 21:38

yes gpswife and pineapple (nancy?)

Gammeldragz · 17/03/2020 21:40

I'd been wondering about GPwife for a few threads.
Threads seem quieter than a few days ago, perhaps we are all just busy with the chaos now it's actually happening.

Am here.
Some more restaurants in my city have opened. Schools still closed.
There are restrictions on people coming back to China and it can take 10 hours after landing to be processed and then to be sent for home isolation or quarantine in a designated facility. Uk has been added to the hot spot list which makes home isolation less likely. After processing you are taken by bus to either your compound or quarantine area. You are issued with a thermometer and have to record your temp twice daily. No going out under any circumstances for 14 days.
The govt is concerned that a second wave may occur through the virus coming back to areas which are have zero new cases so rules and restrictions change quickly.

Fortheselfemployed · 17/03/2020 21:51

I ordered something after gp wife's recommendations, thought I was clever using pay pal. I've received the item but I'm not confident it is what it is claiming to be as no ingredients on the bottle. Think I might have been sold a pig in a poke.

middleager · 17/03/2020 22:01

Great news Shanghai and fingers crossed.

mamapants · 17/03/2020 22:03

I think the sanitiser is probably genuine @Fortheselfemployed the company has been going for 30 years. You could always email them for more information if you are unsure.
Lots of businesses near me have closed. Is it not the same everywhere? We are in North Wales where there are hardly any confirmed cases.

middleager · 17/03/2020 22:04

Son aged 13 now has temp of 39 degrees..he's rarely ill.
Feel so sorry but schools are a hotbed of germs now.
They are making children and adults sick.

VeniceBeach · 17/03/2020 22:10

How many people have employers that aren’t letting you work from home? I work in a university library and we’re to remain open for 24 hours a day with staffed service for 16 of those hours. A lot of other unis have shut their libraries or are at least unstaffed with limited opening hours. I’m desperate for us to close.

Hippywannabe · 17/03/2020 22:11

Pubs and restaurants close, McDonalds says no more seating area, but school dining halls have to stay open. Yippee.

Windy0urneckin · 17/03/2020 22:18

Harrow, Rugby, City of London Girls’ and Westminster all closed today.

allthesharks · 17/03/2020 22:41

The number of deaths seems to be different on the worldometer website compared to the .gov link. Does anyone know why that might be?

I've had a temp for over 24 hours now and a slight sore throat and continuous headache. I'm really not sure if I have it or not, but I have had direct exposure with someone who's tested positive. Will I get a cough after a couple more days?

Lumene · 17/03/2020 22:47

Have heard worrying things via DH that his hospital will no longer be giving the over-70’s any treatment that will likely increase their need for an acute bed.

Is this for any illness or only Coronavirus?

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 22:55

The 45 year old who died had advanced MND. He was named as Craig Ruston, from Kettering, Northamptonshire.

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 22:57

That over 70 rule is ripe for massive anti immigrant backlash to launch. Lots of people will be hoping to exploit that anger for political gain.

OytheBumbler · 17/03/2020 23:00

I feel like I'm waiting now. No real changes at school, most staff and children are in. It all seems very unreal!

I keep thinking maybe it'll just pass us by so long as I don't watch the newsConfused

SirVixofVixHall · 17/03/2020 23:04

I have the sanitiser too, is the company definitely fine ?

tryingtoprep · 17/03/2020 23:07

I actually quite like Stanley Johnson and certainly don't wish him ill. But I do wonder. Will the not treating over 70s apply to Boris's own family? His parents? Also does that mean Jeremy Corbyn (and most of the house of lords) won't get treatment?

Youngatheart00 · 17/03/2020 23:16

Let’s not jump to conclusions before anything is confirmed. The over 70s thing is very controversial and I’m unsure it’s verified.

Angryrant55 · 17/03/2020 23:18

Or the senior royals.

Considering the death rate for a 70 year women is 5% at most I think it means not treating in ICU if beds are scarce.

CharlieTangoBanana · 17/03/2020 23:21

I had a visit from my Ds today, kept our distance and said our goodbyes as there is a possibility we will never see each other again, DD has gone to live with her boyfriend 300 miles away as she couldn't agree to not travelling between the two cities for three months but she is young and in love.

I have a chest infection which I've had for a while, because of my respiratory failure I would normally go into hospital for IV antibiotics but have refused as I know I wouldn't come out alive.
