Think on BBC
covetingthepreciousthings · 16/03/2020 16:32
I don't know whether to watch or not. I'm just watching the WHO broadcast now, and honestly if he doesn't announce drastic measures now, I can't see how this country can be saved at all?
This could be devastating for the country, and we seem to be going against all WHOs recommendations up to this point.
Let's hope the strategy changes and we hear changes 🙏🏻

WHO saying test test test, and test contacts of positive cases up to 2 days prior to showing symptoms...yet my employer (hospital) told everyone earlier this morning emphatically non symptomatic cases are not infectious.
Which is it??
KittenVsBox · 16/03/2020 16:47
If non symptomatic cases weren't infectious, how has this spread so far and wide? I'm pretty sure most things are infectious before (strong) symptoms appear.
PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 16:50
Going across to the briefing now... I'm not hopeful for more stringent changes but I really hope I'm proved wrong.
PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 16:53
So we are 2 minutes in and hes already told people they can go out for exercise...
AwkwardAsAllGetout · 16/03/2020 16:56
What about schools in all this? Saying he’s banning mass gatherings but not mentioning school?
Xyzzzzz · 16/03/2020 16:58
I expected him to have some sort of stronger plan.
Stay away and out of public spaces is common sense imo?
PutYourBackIntoit · 16/03/2020 16:58
So 14 days isolation rather than 7 if symptoms
WFH if at all possible
No pubs clubs theatres cafes
Those with high risk conditions isolate for 12 weeks from next weekend
No emergency service support for mass gatherings
Special attention to be paid by Londoners and older people
Whatusernamecanihave · 16/03/2020 16:59
Advising against mass gatherings but schools staying open? :/
NotDisclosedToday · 16/03/2020 17:00
They need to broadcast regular TV updates. The people likely to ignore the advice set out in this press conference are probably not even watching it.
Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 16/03/2020 17:00
Did he give a list of high risk conditions ?!!
ineedaholidaynow · 16/03/2020 17:01
Surely schools count as mass gatherings, especially larger secondary schools.
Whole households now have to self isolate if one person is ill
LittleBoyJuly2020 · 16/03/2020 17:01
Are they not even going to mention schools after WHO just confirmed children have died?
FreakStar · 16/03/2020 17:01
I really don't understand how they can advise people to work from home yet prevent school teachers and pupils from doing this by keeping schools open!
middleager · 16/03/2020 17:01
WHO says "we have a simple message test, test, test"
We put fingers in ears.
Keep people safe? How can we when my husband who could WFH isnt being allowed to because of Govt guidance.
My child has asthma yet no advice.
PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 17:01
Did he give a list of high risk conditions ?!!
No, hopefully a journalist asks for clarification but surely they shouldn't need to, if you say high risk conditions then you should name them.
