School was quiet this morning. Just done a massive baker ross next day delivery order. About to go panic buy paper etc from home bargains. I'm not worried about food, I'm worried about my MH. That sounds awful :(

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 10:54

All bagels out but ones with sesame seed still there. You really get a sense of what people dislike.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 10:56

Mabel it’s really calm here in shops it’s not too bad everywhere. Overly kind today I’d say in stark contrast, gives me a bit of warmth.

Ledkr · 16/03/2020 10:56

I have just found out via FB that one can f the parents is off with symptoms as well as her children. Parent is also a dinner lady who would have worked last Friday.
Apparently other kids and staff are off as well with symptoms.
I have emailed school for confirmation and to ask why they haven't informed us.
My adult son is a transplant patient and is like to be aware if his little sister is a risk to him.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 10:56

If the brand NHS is tainted what happens in america will be ignored by the press.

Sassenach85 · 16/03/2020 10:58

Don’t know if this has been mentioned but jet2 urgently trying to get uk citizens home today. Via any airport possible. Family from Scotland got a 4 hour warning to get a flight to England out of Spain

Tessatea · 16/03/2020 10:59

I was panicking for weeks, but since coming back from Sweden over the weekend I'm not so worried anymore.

The swedes are just restricting big crowds for now, but even the supermarkets were full of people Friday evening after work.

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 11:03

Dd is running a temp of 38.8. Is that considered a low grade fever? Is it only a high grade fever that counts as symptom?

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:03

The Swedish government is struggling in the polls - if it backfires there that government will be out at the next election.

WhyNotMe40 · 16/03/2020 11:05

38.8 is pretty high!

3littlemonkeys82 · 16/03/2020 11:06

@MurrayTheMonk any fever over 37.8 is recommended to self isolate. Follow the NHS online tool if in doubt. Hope she makes a quick recovery.

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 11:06

@MurrayTheMonk I would say that temp is more than low grade.

MabelMoo23 · 16/03/2020 11:07

38.8 is high!

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 11:08

Well she is asleep for now and it was in fairness boiling in her room. I've cracked her window a bit and will leave her to rest for now.
I had to borrow a thermometer from a neighbour (gave it a wipe down first and after). It was quite old, maybe it's a bit out on the reading (hope so Sad)

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:09

BBC Radio 4 Today - 'Transport Secretary Grant Shapps confirms over-70s will soon be asked to stay at home for an extended period, but explains you will be able to do things like go for a walk, and "it's about being sensible but not mixing in crowds". '

Quartz2208 · 16/03/2020 11:11

Lockdown cant be immediate you do need to get people to where they can safely lockdown otherwise it is riskier.

Gives tourists a chance to get home it has to be that way

BiBiBirdie · 16/03/2020 11:12

Morning all
Am I alone in being so stressed that my skin has reverted to its teen state of spots?
Still trying to remain calm but its tough.
DP is taking it far more seriously than he was a fortnight ago, we've all been fine, DD had a sore throat yesterday but turned out she hadn't drunk anything for hours as she was busy playing Roblox
He now thinks we did have it at the end of December/beginning of January, and we are hopeful that is the case, which sounds mad. Our area still had only 3 cases when we are a huge city but as I said previously, everyone we know was so unwell at the same time as us or a week behind.
I'm not being complacent though.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:15

Chris Smyth - 'updated government advice this morning: Schools should send pupils home if they get a cough or fever and put them in a room on their own while they await collection. Handles, switches and rails should be cleaned more frequently. Prisons should create coronavirus wings where infected patients can be gathered together. People should wash their hands before and after using public transport.'

BiBiBirdie · 16/03/2020 11:15

I've been really impressed with the amount of people helping out or offering help in our part of town. I've been less impressed with stockpiling though.
I'm trying to do some Wedding stuff, in the hopes it will go ahead, just to focus on something happy and in the future (June).
I'm also pleased that Australia thinks it's found two drugs that can obliterate it- I wonder do they need as much testing if they've been tested previously for side effects?

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:16

It's hard to see loads of people having at Christmas and it not being noticed.

cjt110 · 16/03/2020 11:18
