Just had an email and been to,d to work from home until sept!

DigitalGhost · 16/03/2020 11:24

Keep seeing alot of things about how young people are dying in Italy but there's no breakdown like we've been doing here. Is it all bollocks?

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 11:24

For heavens sake. They are going to tell over 70's to isolate today aren't they? And nothing else? I mean the horse has boosted I suppose but at this point even just to contain panic a lock down would be better wouldn't it?

Foobydoo · 16/03/2020 11:25

I don't know how accurate this is as it is just from facebook but there are reports that people are gathering near Downing street petitioning about this in hazmat suits.

cjt110 · 16/03/2020 11:26

@VivaLeBeaver Where do you work?

My inlaws - one is 67 and the other 78. I asked if they were going to isolate and the response was "We'll see" And if the older has to isolate, the younger isn't sure if they will... which surely defeats the object?!

Yes agree Angryrant that much has been done to undermine the NHS over previous decade one way or another aided and abetted by the MSM. It'd be nice to think that Brits would be like the Spanish and applaud HCP every night. Do you think that'll happen?

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:29

@DigitalGhost Most deaths in italy over 60. Youngest 39 I think.

Calmonthesurfacebut · 16/03/2020 11:31

@mittens glad you’ve turned the corner. Has anyone heard from Pineapple, whose daughter was so ill? It’s bothering me. Also is GPs wife here, maybe under a different name?

Pleased all my tickly cough gone no fever etc, so not worried now.

I was sad today, my 84 yr old great aunt hasn’t been out shopping at all, she only drives Sunday’s as it’s quiet and she can’t walk far as waiting for a knee op, which she still thinks will go ahead 😳 but she saw the crowds yesterday, so didn’t bother.

I went to get some bits, beans, Frau bentos pies, soups uht milk, she hasn’t got a freezer, so nothing fresh or frozen. Her fridge is very small.

All the UHT milk was gone, most of the tinned veg too, no tins of fruit, so I thought I’ll arrange a delivery for her on my Tesco account, so at least she’ll have fresh, no delivery slots until end of April.

How on earth are the elderly going to cope on their own? At least we are only 30 mins away.

DigitalGhost · 16/03/2020 11:31

@Angryrant55 cheers. Just keep seeing it without any evidence so obviously making it a hell of alot more worrying with our governments plan to let the young get it.

fullofteandneedstopee · 16/03/2020 11:33

Confirmed case in my office of 20 and it's business as usual. Apparently it's flawed for 4 days and passed on to all other family members.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:36

jenny hill - 'The German govt doesn’t know why country’s corona death rate is so low. Spokesperson for health ministry says health system good & Germany tested cases at early stage but as yet no valid analysis. Govt previously attributed to fact that those tested younger with milder symptoms.'

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/03/2020 11:37

We are business as usual at work too - it's like they've got their head in the sand.

TheCanterburyWhales · 16/03/2020 11:37

Morning all. Flowers

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:37

Pippa Crerar - 'Downing Street says the PHE document - which suggests 8m could end up hospitalised - reflects the "reasonable worst case scenario" that has been in the plan all along.

PM's official spokesman: "It does not mean that is what we expect to happen". '

cjt110 · 16/03/2020 11:39

Random one I'm sure.. My GP have suspended appointments face to face unless absolutely neccessary. My Depo jab is due 6th April. Should i be trying to make contact/other arrangements now?

Ran into two people I know

One said children can’t spread it as they don’t cough - not right is it?

And other said South Africa reacted straight away with borders and quarantine / isolation.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 11:42

Tbh I’d send round that Spanish email at work.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 11:42

If people are still burying their head in the sand,

Coquohvan · 16/03/2020 11:43

Exochord · 16/03/2020 11:44

Didn’t occur to me until today that lots of elderly people haven’t engaged with online ordering and billing. My elderly parents still pay their bills at the post office and hand their prescriptions to the pharmacy, which will shortly be impossible. I’ve had an absolute nightmare trying to set up online billing for them because everyone else is trying to do it too.

The GP is refusing to let them order prescriptions online unless they first attend the surgery to set up the service. How the fuck are they supposed to do that under self isolation or lockdown?! The pharmacy says they have limited capacity for delivering prescriptions and demand has gone through the roof, so even if my parents hand in their prescriptions they can’t guarantee to deliver them. It’s a complete shit show.

EveLevine · 16/03/2020 11:45

@cjt110 Might be best to ring and check? Our surgery have posted this weekend that they are continuing with essential services only, but contraception was one of the services they considered essential.

This is what our surgery have posted on Facebook

“ We aim to continue with the following routine but essential services:

  • INR monitoring
  • contraceptive appointments
  • wound dressings
  • childhood immunisations
  • cytology
  • blood tests”
BiBiBirdie · 16/03/2020 11:46

@Angryrant55 but the first we knew of it was January. We now know the first case was 17th November, or first confirmed case.
If you look at pneumonia and flu, bronchitis season, it would be easy to put these illnesses down to usual winter flu season. Even my GP said she was concerned at my symptoms, with the amount of coughing and wheeze I had (when I don't have asthma), she would expect me to have mucus. But there was none. I just could not stop coughing, to the point I was actually sick.
As I say, I am being cautiously optimistic, and still being careful.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 16/03/2020 11:46

Just found out my godparents are on a fucking cruise! 🙄

They're both in their seventies and godmother is post-stroke
