@Thefaceofboe - I really haven't!!

Of course the answers are going to be judgemental!

If you are a parent you owe it to your child to stay informed, educate yourself and understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic. I don't have kids and I knew the answer to the OP's question. Can jump on Mumsnet easily enough though.

No one wants to be unnecessarily unkind (I hope) but some posts just warrant a FFS come on!

Mlou32 · 15/03/2020 20:10

This is clearly a joke, no one is this thick...

Lougle · 15/03/2020 20:11

I think this is the result of years of hearing "it's just a virus..." when people think maybe they should have antibiotics.

"Ok, wasn't sure if it was a viral thing."

Ebola is a virus
HIV is a virus
Coronavirus is a virus
The common cold is a virus.

Not all viruses were born equal.

I hope your DD is better soon.

ShootEmUpSarsaparilla · 15/03/2020 20:11

It isn’t ‘new territory’ FFS. You shouldn’t be sending your feverish kid to school regardless of CV.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 20:11

@Lougle - thank you. X

mamasiz · 15/03/2020 20:12

Seriously? Do you even need to ask?

voddiekeepsmesane · 15/03/2020 20:14

@Lougle the coverage given to Carona has been more than anything I have ever seen or heard in my lifetime at 47 and I have been through all of those you listed

Toomuchtrouble4me · 15/03/2020 20:14

Even if no virus - why would you send your child to school with a sore throat and a temperature? Just why would you do that?

LemonadePockets · 15/03/2020 20:15

A ‘viral thing’ like the corona VIRUS?

Lougle · 15/03/2020 20:16

I agree, @voddiekeepsmesane, I'm trying to say that people hear 'virus' and think it's annoying rather than dangerous and that bacteria is dangerous.

How many times have you heard 'oh it's just a virus'?

EastCoastDamsel · 15/03/2020 20:16

NO! Fuck No.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 20:17

@Toomuchtrouble4me school actually tell us to send them in with a mild sore throat. Her temperature has been up and down.

ThanosSavedMe · 15/03/2020 20:17

I think it’s absolutely fine to come on here and look for some support. Explain your situation and ask for some reassurance, ask if anyone knows where you can get some local support. I totally get that but the original question was utterly ridiculous and I can totally understand pp reactions.

crumpetsryummy · 15/03/2020 20:18

People are bound to sit and think.
What's a persistent cough?
So I woke up this morning and was coughing. Then it has stopped. But got a cough?
Advice says 7 days isolation.

shinynewapple2020 · 15/03/2020 20:18

No

Chloemol · 15/03/2020 20:19

Why are you asking, ffs look at the bloody guidelines

ziggiestardust · 15/03/2020 20:20

Even a mild fever, the government are saying to stay home for 7 days. My son’s temp is up and down and he has a cough. He’s staying home from 7 days. My first thought wasn’t ‘shall I keep him off school’ but ‘I have failed to protect him’. I had one job.

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 15/03/2020 20:21

I thought guidance had changeD and the whole family need to self isolated, even if only one person is unwell?

@hurryupautumn can I kindly suggest that you watch the news/have a read so you up to date on things.

legalseagull · 15/03/2020 20:21

A viral thing??? Like coronaVIRUS you mean? This has got to be a joke. You realise vulnerable people will actually die as a direct result of people walking around going to work/school with the illness and spreading it???

AriadnesFilament · 15/03/2020 20:22

No! How have the new rules been in any way unclear?!

A temp over 37.8 and you’re home for a week! Why would you even ask?! Ffs.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 20:22

@ThanosSavedMe good for you

OP posts:
TheSmelliestHouse · 15/03/2020 20:23

No you cant send her in, and you must isolate for 14 days, not 7.
7 is useless.

JinglingHellsBells · 15/03/2020 20:23

@hurryupautumn Are you so dim or ill informed - choose one- that you cannot see the difference between general advice given by a school BEFORE coronavirus began, and government medical advice now people are dying from the virus?

You clearly are living under a rock and unaware of all the people WITH CV who have been interviewed by the media and saying they felt fine .

The estimate is that there may be more than 10K people infected but so mildly they do not know.

But they are still able to infect others.

Are you really not listening to all the news about this?
