AND @hurryupautumn if your child does have CV or it's possible she does, YOU and the rest of the family should self isolate because you could ALL have it even if you feel fine now.

AriadnesFilament · 15/03/2020 20:27

Doesnt affect kids see how he is tomorrow paracetamol and of he goes x
Oh
My
God
I am appalled. Absolutely appalled. THIS is how it spreads. THIS is how containment measures fail. Jesus fucking Christ.

Peasfox · 15/03/2020 20:27

@Missarad

Uh oh

TildaTurnip · 15/03/2020 20:27

To potentially carry the virus in and infect staff who will then be off?

JinglingHellsBells · 15/03/2020 20:28

@Missarad Oh do go and disappear love. No one has said it doesn't affect children, just that none has been diagnosed. Yet.

voddiekeepsmesane · 15/03/2020 20:29

@Missarad ODFOD

JinglingHellsBells · 15/03/2020 20:29

I really wish we had the measures they used in China now to control the dickheads appearing on this thread tonight.

It is truly shocking.

Are people still not getting how serious this is?

SinkGirl · 15/03/2020 20:29

doesnt affect kids

😳

I don't believe schools send letters encouraging parents to send children in with sore throats and temperatures. total nonsense. If they do, tear them up and put them in the bin.

Sick children - and a fever is a sign that a child is fighting off an infection - should be at home, not in school - apart from infecting others they feel terrible. What a world we live in.

Hollyhobbi · 15/03/2020 20:30

What about the little newborn in the UK who had it?

waterrat · 15/03/2020 20:31

CHildren don't get it severely - they can pass it on.

littlejalapeno · 15/03/2020 20:35

How can you even be asking that you absolute weirdo.

Cissyandflora · 15/03/2020 20:35

Oh ffs this is a stupid joke isn’t it?!?

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 15/03/2020 20:35

Children get it mildly but they spread it. They're little germ factories at the best of times. FFS it's too early days and too little booze to deal with this much stupid.

anxiousnow · 15/03/2020 20:36

This isn't how it spreads at all. She asked a question. She hasn't sent her daughter anywhere yet. She asked a question and is going to take the advice given. No need to make her feel like she's single handedly the downfall of the population. It spreads by people thinking they know best or not caring. Ignorant people, stupid people, confused people, unlucky people advised incorrectly initially.

Go spread your "kindness" elsewhere

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 20:37

@anxiousnow - thanks so much. That's exactly it. I haven't sent her to school and won't be doing. xx

Do we really have people as selfish and dim as the OP? Really? In real life? Terrifying.

croon979 · 15/03/2020 20:38

The thread has seriously given me the rage. I am a chronic asthmatic and absolutely terrified about this virus for good reason. I am doing everything I can to prepare myself. I can be as careful as I can and it will make sod all difference with ignorant people not even bothering to know the very simple rules. This one is the very simplest. If you or your child has a temperature then you self isolate. Children should never be sent into school with a temperature anyway.

This thread is seriously anxiety inducing and the amount of people wading in to defend the OP is ridiculous. OP, if you haven’t heard already washing your hands regularly is a good idea too...

Is it too much to ask for people to read the NHS guidelines? They are less than a page. Get off social media and read it.

chipsandgin · 15/03/2020 20:38

Temperature OR a cough (or both).

Also viral fevers do often fluctuate.

All this incredulity and nastiness is obviously borne of frustration, fear and not directed solely at you OP. It’s more that by you asking that question it confirms that there are potentially many more who haven’t, can’t or won’t understand the very basic, clear instructions that the government have issued.

Essentially, the implications of the guidelines not being understood by many are terrifying- especially for the more vulnerable people in society.

You asked this here, which was preferable to not asking, for all we know there are hundreds or thousands of parents across the U.K. who also haven’t understood and will send their child in to school tomorrow, or not isolate themselves or their

Maybe instead of directing all that anger at the OP we should be asking why people haven’t understood it and what can be done to get the message across. It needs to be everywhere, the 7 days off with new cough or temperature repeated over and over with the word OR flashing in red maybe!?

Fuck knows, it does make me despair a bit just because it exacerbates the potential of disaster (already looming due to this being the only measure taken and widely considered to be dangerously weak and ineffective).

However, I do think we should all try and be more understanding, there are people with learning difficulties or processing problems, who just aren’t that bright or don’t watch or follow the news or can’t read or perhaps process instructions easily or myriad of other issues (mental health included where their own problems are overwhelming to them to the point they can’t take it on board) which might mean they may not be able to grasp the concept properly. They need help and understanding - and educating - not vitriol surely?

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 20:40

@chipsandgin - thank you. Reassuring to know there are some nice people out there. Xx

JinglingHellsBells · 15/03/2020 20:42

@hurryupautumn @anxiousnow

But OP you have kept your thread going for 10 pages trying to get yourself out of the hole you dug, never saying you were stupid, just arguing the point time after time.

How dim does anyone have to be not to get that a high temp, or a sore throat, or a cough is possibly CV?

Do you really not get the seriousness for people who are immuno compromised, or old, or ill?

Really????

JinglingHellsBells · 15/03/2020 20:43

and very very scary to know there are people out there who are so thick, they cannot understand all the advice online and in the news all of the time.

anxiousnow · 15/03/2020 20:43

Ok, to be clear, my son is in tbe at risk category, my parents are severely at rist due to age and pre-existing conditions. I am terrified of the stupid people not listening to guidelines BUT this isn't a thread where op has said fuck it I'm sending her in. She asked and is going to act within guidelines. Please don't scare off other people from checking, and then hopefully listening. That does far more harm than good, and the person you scared off, goes out snd infects people could be in your road, school, workplace.

BadlyArrangedToasties · 15/03/2020 20:43

Would you normally? If there was no corona virus I wouldn’t send my kid to school with a temp. Have people lost all common sense??

ahchuan10 · 15/03/2020 20:44

I'd say no definitely not :) I know we are all thinking oh god am I being OTT but at the moment if one of mine heats up at all or says they feel unwell they should not go to school x I'm worried that some children have been in Italy over the last week skiing and the head is telling them fine to come to school on Monday :0
