AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

4, because everyone panic bought I couldn't find anything else

hoxtonbabe · 14/03/2020 04:52

Exactly what @nikkijr1990 said!

I haven’t been panic buying, especially as I don’t have the space, but after 2 days of searching high and low for my usual 9 pack ( or any 9 pack at that) and finally finding the last pack of the rubbish Morrison’s branded one, it has now forced me to stock pile as I can’t go through what I have been through this week all over again in a weeks time so I currently have 9 but on Monday I plan to try and get it from Costco failing that, back to the Morrison’s but earlier in the morning whilst they still have good stock and buy as much as my son and I can take.

Same with tinned tomato’s , I had no intentions of stock piling, but when I went to go and buy just 2 measly tins, the entire section was bare, at Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Iceland warehouse and Tesco.. it’s ridiculous, so I will now get a pack of 24.

I had to get them for £1 each from the corner shops when I usually get 2 for 80p.

FairfaxAikman · 14/03/2020 04:59

About 50 but we shop at Costco and your smallest option is 45 rolls.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 14/03/2020 05:11

50-ish because that's what I keep.

MrsMonkeyBear · 14/03/2020 05:16

About 24. I order mine from WGAC every 6-8m. Even they are out of stock too but we should be ok for another 12 weeks.

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/03/2020 05:20

About 90 but this is down from 150 last year, I bought loads last year when they were on offer on Amazon.

Thetigeronthewobbelboard · 14/03/2020 05:22

About 10.

AllPointsNorth · 14/03/2020 05:25

I have a box of 48 from WGAC in the garage, 7 in the bathroom and a pack of 9 in my stash. So 64.

DryHeave · 14/03/2020 05:28

4 packs of 24. I went shopping at Aldi for the first time about 6 weeks ago. The price was great! I’d also picked up something was happening so I started to stock back up on everything (my Brexit stocks had been depleted).

siblingrevelryagain · 14/03/2020 05:32

I haven’t bought in a while though-I have an amazon subscription so every once in a while a driver rocks up with another 45 (I keep forgetting to amend the schedule).

I have been ‘prepping’, first first for Brexit, then more recently for the prospect of isolation. Haven’t had to go near a shop since the panic buying began, thank god.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 14/03/2020 05:33

Shelves are still full here in Aldi, no shortages

Boxerbinky · 14/03/2020 05:42

Ironically we usually get a massive Costco pack which lasts us months, we bought the last one before Christmas and we are down to our last 4 pack now - so I picked up a 9 roll pack today from B&M. We would usually head there this weekend and pick up another large pack, but I'm not sure there will be stock!

thegreylady · 14/03/2020 05:55

We have 3 packs of 9. I bought one and my daughter and my next door neighbour each bought us one pack. Dd also bought us two travel size hand sanitisers and some wipes.

Ponoka7 · 14/03/2020 06:01

One and a half rolls. There's no shortage where i live.

Bienentrinkwasser · 14/03/2020 06:02

I have no idea but o reckon at least 12. I accidentally bought two massive multipacks within a week of each other a few months ago and we’re still working through it. We also use cloth wipes part time so that slows the usage down.

Yogawoogie · 14/03/2020 06:03

It’s like in willy wonker when the teacher asks how many wonker bars each child has.

yogafailure · 14/03/2020 06:03

36 just delivered as usual from Amazon, a pack of 9 from the last delivery that isnt open yet and at least 3 in every loo cupboard makes another 9....so 54 roughly. There's 5 but usually 7 of us in our house thanks to the older DC having their other halves to stay pretty much full time.

KatherineJaneway · 14/03/2020 06:05

The FEAR of being without basics never leaves you if youve been there.

Totally get this, I am the same. I had two 9 packs spare, which is normal for the Janeway household, but I went into Tesco and there were only 3 toilet roll packs left, almost no pasta, flour etc. So I went to a local Costcutter and bought an extra 9 pack.

LoisLittsLover · 14/03/2020 06:26

About 90 rolls but I get mine in bulk from amazon every 4 months, so have had those for about 6 weeks

SerenDippitty · 14/03/2020 06:35

About 14. We usually buy it in 4 packs but Morrison’s only had 9 packs (or bigger)so we got one of those as we did last week. They were just restocking the liquid soap but we didn’t buy any as have plenty of bar soap in. Pasta shelf completely bare.

Eireni · 14/03/2020 06:39

Where do you store 150 rolls?
I’m not quite 3 figures, almost Blush but my TP stash is under the bed, we have a king size storage ottoman bed (so safe from cats!) and the TP takes up about a sixth of it. The ‘handy’ stash is in a drawer in a dresser on the landing just outside the bathroom door, that holds 10 rolls when the drawer is full. So it’s really not intrusive in the house at all.
Other places I store bulk items are a few less-useful bottom kitchen cupboards, pretty storage boxes on top of kitchen cupboards, and other storage furniture like an ottoman in the hallway, chests of drawers etc. I am queen of baskets and storage solutions, could always be more organised about it though (OCD perfectionism means it’s never organised enough. Yes my OCD is diagnosed, medicated & therapied!)
Pretty much anything non-perishable or long-life I bulk buy, have a lot of regular food items on subscription etc so I don’t even have to think about it (what someone said about reducing mental load above is spot on). I won’t buy a single box of matches, I’ll buy 20 wholesale for example and then probably not need to think about matches for another few years.

It saves money long term but I appreciate I am priveliged to be able to do it.

I’m thinking maybe in the current climate I should donate some of my stash items to the local food bank.

Dhalandchips · 14/03/2020 06:42

12, I'm getting to the end of my brexit stash. I was buying an extra four pack when I went shopping for about six months last year.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/03/2020 06:46

I have 9, but there are only 2 of us in the house and we only get through about 1 a week as we are out for the majority of the day. So in theory I've got enough for 2 months. If we were put on lockdown and couldn't leave the house I reckon they'd last about 6 weeks.

GA2012 · 14/03/2020 06:49

I have more than I normally would have (not sure how many exactly) but actually bought some on amazon rather then taking the stock away from supermarkets!

GeraltOfRivia · 14/03/2020 06:49

I have a couple of rolls left in each loo and 3 or 4 in the bathroom drawer. We order from who gives a crap. Next shipment due early April.
