Going to Spain tomorrow

How stupid am I being??

I'm off on a short break to Spain tomorrow. Not in an affected (or largely affected anyway) area, but I note the situation is getting worse by the day.

Staying near Torrevieja. I'm there tomorrow until Wednesday.

Incredibly.

HairyFloppins · 13/03/2020 16:54

I wouldn't go.

Lumene · 13/03/2020 16:54

Government advises against all but essential travel. Would your health insurance even cover you?!?

Davincitoad · 13/03/2020 16:54

Can you even go? Suprised they are still flying

Dootie · 13/03/2020 16:55

As at right now I can still go and my flight is okay.

Nquartz · 13/03/2020 16:56

No way! Surely your insurance would be valid?!

TheMemoryLingers · 13/03/2020 16:56

Irresponsible in the extreme.

cologne4711 · 13/03/2020 16:56

I have to say I looked at your title and thought: "What?"

Bonkers.

NotJustACigar · 13/03/2020 16:57

Not just incredibly stupid but highly irresponsible as you are putting not just yourself but everyone you come in contact with should you become infected at risk in addition to adding an extra burden onto the NHS.

Rocketmam · 13/03/2020 16:57

This is one of those very clear cases op.

You CAN do something, but that doesn't mean you SHOULD do something.

RhymingRabbit3 · 13/03/2020 16:57

I'm really surprised that the government are still allowing flights for holidays and leisure. Surely it should be restricted to essential travel only, especially to affected countries.

SixesandEights · 13/03/2020 16:58

Stupid and selfish.

OneUsernameOnly · 13/03/2020 16:59

What about travelling in this country? I am supposed to be away for the night 2 hours away - surely that is ok?

Mummyshark2018 · 13/03/2020 17:00

Today's official line re Spain.

Going to Spain tomorrow
YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 13/03/2020 17:03

If you’d have posted this time last week, everyone’s advice would be to go and even that was reckless then.

If anyone needs to ask this question today I really have lost all hope.

TheMemoryLingers · 13/03/2020 17:05

We need to resurrect those posters from WW2 - 'Is your journey really necessary?'

Hoppinggreen · 13/03/2020 17:05

Spain has declared a state of national emergency I think
I wouldn’t be going, even if flights aren’t cancelled

KonTikki · 13/03/2020 17:05

I was driving down to Spain, leaving Wednesday. I have just cancelled. My daughter works in Madrid. The whole city is on lockdown. She was in tears talking to us on Skype.
Everything, and I mean everything has shut down. She will be OK but it is a very scary feeling.
Flying will be easier, Torrevieja is not Madrid.
But the whole country is feeling the pain.
You're not going for too long and probably will be fine.
But it's not a happy situation out there at present.

Wobblywibblywoo · 13/03/2020 17:06

Nope, not a chance

Novia · 13/03/2020 17:07

I'm in Madrid - don't do it. Everything is shut except pharmacies and supermarkets. There will be nothing to see and do, and you might not be able to get out again.

Devlesko · 13/03/2020 17:08

A plane with other people on it, when we have 10k cases here?
Do you think it's fair that more than likely you'll expect rescuing by British government when your accommodation or flight has cases?

DonnaDarko · 13/03/2020 17:08

I wouldn't go. your insurance won't cover you if you get sick from coronavirus or if your flight is cancelled as a result of coronavirus.

I know someone who works for an insurance company and they're literally adding this into all their policies. If you want to be covered, they up your premiums.

Megan2018 · 13/03/2020 17:08

Everything will be shut and you may not be allowed back. Utter madness to travel, we have friends and family in the Valencia area. There’s no way we’d be going!

lunar1 · 13/03/2020 17:09

Are you planning to complain when you are sick and stuck there?
