Maybe our govt are waiting to see if the lockdown actually does work. By which time it will be too late to do it here :(

Re: incubation period, this is a quotation from the WHO website;

The “incubation period” means the time between catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days. These estimates will be updated as more data become available.

People who voted this government in are going to feel very betrayed, very quickly.

So many people have cancer and are undergoing chemotherapy. Imagine how they must be feeling right now? Sad

No one allowed to go to my GP surgery without phoning first, including those who have already made appointments. I was phoned this morning and told my repeat prescription will be sent direct to pharmacy, no one allowed to collect from GP. Reception is closed, anyone allowed in has to use touchscreen to sign in

OldQueen1969 · 13/03/2020 12:14

On my FB I'm still seeing a large number of posts saying that it's not all that bad, more people die of flu yadda yadda, and some people seem to be scouring the web for any article that looks slightly scientific to back up those assertions.

My DH is going to London overnight for a live performance gig in a nightclub. He is very risk aware because of his job, and while he would like to pull out he is integral to the proceedings and does not want to let people down. He feels guilty as hell but we need the money and I trust him to be sensible. Until he gets back tomorrow morning I will be on even higher alert. I am still crossing fingers for the whole thing to be cancelled.

DakotaFanny · 13/03/2020 12:14

I've seen a definite shift on my FB feed ofwarren. Not one mention last week and loads last night. Glad people are finally getting on board. The more voices there are the more we can hope that Boris will step up to the mark.

In other news, my elderly in-laws suspect they have the virus. Sad They are both over 80, although in pretty good health generally.

So they can't actually go and get tested until they are terribly ill? Is that right???

Medicines taken by thousands of people with high blood pressure and diabetes 'could raise the risk of deadly coronavirus symptoms' t.co/2z8XECZgFz

These worries me severely as my husband is on Ramipril. We both work in HE and our establishment is still in the washing hands brigade.

lifeisntgoodritenow · 13/03/2020 12:15

Rang our drs yesterday and they've turned off the automatic answering meesage, you now have to speak to a receptionist put you on the list for a call back with dr or nurse

ofwarren · 13/03/2020 12:16

Oh no @DakotaFanny!
I think that is the advice yes.
Hopefully someone who understands the advice better than me will help you know what to do.

Having just been to the GP (unrelated to CV) I am madder than ever. THEY have shut down..,only letting you in through locked door after interrogation after having spoken with GP on phone.

But we don’t need to shut schools etc. It makes no damn sense.

Keep the disease spreading freely though the population but shut down health care

LaCherriesJubilee · 13/03/2020 12:18

My Ocado delivery just came. The driver was wearing gloves, asked me to stand back while she put all the shopping (in bags) on my doorstep, said they weren't taking back anything for recycling and weren't taking back substitutions either (if you don't want it, email for a refund). And they will no longer go into customers homes with deliveries. Good that they're taking precautions.

Please can someone tell me if a child with anaphylactic allergies but not asthma only allergy cough would be at high risk.
I can't find if people with sever allergies would be classed as a underlying health condition

The whole GP thing / NHS issue is so worrying. We've been told not to bother doctors for minor ailments that we can treat at home for years and many have followed that advice, only to discover those minor ailments were part of a more serious condition that might have been avoided in its most serious form if picked up earlier. This will now be happening on a much wider scale I suspect as we won't want to overwhelm stretched services with our petty niggles when CV is top of the agenda.

I really think a clear consistent announcement by officials as to what services will be available, when and how best to access them for things that aren't CV related would be really helpful. Or if that exists can someone point me to it?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/03/2020 12:24

"Medicines taken by thousands of people with high blood pressure and diabetes 'could raise the risk of deadly coronavirus symptoms'"

I had been wondering if the high level of deaths among those with high BP was just in the uncontrolled cases,
or those cases where it had earlier caused longterm damage to organs like kidneys

However, China and especially Italy have decent health services which shouldn't have that many with uncontrolled BP

usernotfound0000 · 13/03/2020 12:25

@OldQueen1969 really good point.

DO NOT stop taking essential medicines unless advised to by your dr.
