TOTAL AND UTTER MADNESS

I am totally amazed at the attitude of our Government! Thousands of Spanish football fans have travelled from coronavirus-hit Madrid to the UK for a football game in Liverpool tonight. Madrid has parts on lockdown and are not allowed to gather on mass there, yet they can fly here!!
Total madness!
All true here is the link to the Liverpool Echo

Sadly not surprising!

HermioneWeasley · 11/03/2020 19:54

Bonkers

Number12 · 11/03/2020 19:56

WTF!

Janemarpling · 11/03/2020 19:57

Matt Hancock said follow the Science it will be ok.
Confused

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 19:58

Crazy its like they want us all dead.

Connie222 · 11/03/2020 19:58

Bloody hell.

Roselilly36 · 11/03/2020 19:59

How can you be surprised, when an Nadine Dorries tested postive, spent time with Boris & co and only one MP exposed has self isolated. Why don’t they practise what they preach?

Purplewhitelie · 11/03/2020 20:00

Mind you no worse than my local college still being open even though a confirmed case made the local news. Not even a deep clean.

This is going to be one hell of a mess.

user1480880826 · 11/03/2020 20:01

Matt Hancock can’t spell science, never mind follow it. He’s the densest man on Whitehall and there is a lot of competition for that title.

Apirateslifeforme · 11/03/2020 20:01

@Roselilly36 I wonder how they can be trusted to lead us to safety from the virus when they've done such a stellar job for themselves!!

Charlesthekingcavalier · 11/03/2020 20:06

He’s doing the right thing. The advice he’s given is from experts. Why wouldn’t you go with it? He’s right in saying that if you do it too early, it’ll backfire. Are people just annoyed because it’s the tories? I’m guessing it is.

Helpwithaversion · 11/03/2020 20:08

It’s total madness, we will look back at this (if we can) and despair at the delays

Floooy174 · 11/03/2020 20:11

Be another 3000 next week too in Manchester.

theflushedzebra · 11/03/2020 20:11

Madness. I think we have to come to terms that while the govt is taking measures to protect the economy, they are also planning for a high number of people to get it.

I think they will end up locking down in some way - but probably just a little bit too late. They should be acting now.

Dominic Raab didn't look too well during the Budget today, did he? Half of Parliament could have it.

Pinkiespalace · 11/03/2020 20:12

I’m absolutely livid about this as I’m from Liverpool.

Thank goodness my sons could not get tickets for the match!

Thankfully my boss said work from home yesterday if we were uncomfortable which I’ve done as of today, there are lots of Liverpool fans in my office who will be there tonight.

I could cry.

FacingtheAbess · 11/03/2020 20:14

Calm down. Madrid is at a very different stage to us..
We need to fan the flame of those fires by allowing this to occur, and then, when we face raging community transition, when it's really firing along, then, and only then will we stop inviting infected peoples over.

Chillax peeps.

VenusTiger · 11/03/2020 20:14

@Charlesthekingcavalier I couldn't agree more with everything you just posted.
The CMO (and Deputy CMO earlier today) have told us why they are doing what they are doing - they're not out to get us! Stop believing Suzy from Grimsby and take advice of the experts. I also believe that the herding effect, strengthening our immunity to the new virus in winters to come, as I've seen suggested elsewhere, is likely true and quite clever.

Sunshine1239 · 11/03/2020 20:14

I’m Liverpool too and work here

9 cases in Merseyside now

3000 fans who can’t watch their team in span but can here!

theflushedzebra · 11/03/2020 20:15

I'm really trying to say calm, and not panic, while just taking sensible measures to stock up a bit, and socially distance myself as far as possible, but I'm finding it difficult to understand why so many people aren't taking it seriously, including Boris.

I mean, maybe I've just watched a few too many pandemic movies - I certainly hope so.

FacingtheAbess · 11/03/2020 20:17

Charles. Someone said, our numbers are higher then when wuhan instigated its draconian lock down.

Us plucky brits are inviting football matches and race meets and anyone off any plane to just call 111.

And... 111 will say, do you know a confirmed case?

Oh, if not don't worry.

theflushedzebra · 11/03/2020 20:18

Stop believing Suzy from Grimsby and take advice of the experts.

The experts I keep reading - like the guy from the WHO - seem to say that we should be acting now.

NeverTwerkNaked · 11/03/2020 20:19

It's totally idiotic.

theflushedzebra · 11/03/2020 20:19

Sorry, I meant the guy from Lancet - RIchard Horton.

Fatasfooook · 11/03/2020 20:20

Are we really surprised that this incompetent government is acting well, incompetent?

Bottletopsx · 11/03/2020 20:20

We are meant to be in the CONTAIN phase. What a joke!
