Travelling, making other decisions around
exposure

read up, noone can decide for you, but be aware...
Your mode of transport (train/boat/plane) is unlikely to be disinfected.
You may not be welcome back at work (forced isolation unpaid because you decided to take risk)
Getting stuck in quarantine in another country, subjected to their health service and govt restrictions on you.
What happens with your dc and school upon return.
Holiday insurance cover?

Positive ways of coping

Exercise daily, out where you won't be in close proximity (greater than 2 metres)

Eat well, healthy foods, plenty of liquid

Include natural antivirals in diet and good levels of daily vit c

Rest

Take steps to address any raised anxiety, above what might be reasonable and normal steps for keeping viral hygiene under control.
Its normal to feel more anxious, and normal to take steps to manage situation by being well prepared.

Isolation Issues

Getting sufficient shopping in on low incomes, and/or vulnerable / already isolated

Keeping on top of KEY METERS - need to top up yet in isolation - what measures are there to help

Paying mortgage/rent (private & housing associations) if not receiving sick pay

Legislation that enforced isolation = sick (for sick pay purposes)

       <strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong><strong>*</strong>**,

Primary mode of transmission is airborne droplets.

Sneeze or cough into elbow (or tissue and bin it). Droplets can travel 2m.

Secondary means of transmission touch.

Hand wash to
Break the transmission cycle from hand to mouth, eyes, nose, or to others, by 20 seconds plus thorough hand washing (soap and water).

Alcohol breaks down the outer layer of virus to effectively kill, other methods may not.
(Anti bacterial does NOT do this and overuse may risk bacterial resistance).

Use 2/3rds vol alcohol to any other additive

Thanks @usernameishistory. Fingers crossed we’re through the worst of it. My little boy has been a trooper. I guess we’ll never know what bug we’ve actually all had!

The Prime Minister will not be tested for coronavirus and does not have any symptoms of the disease, according to No 10 sources

Thanks so much @Motorina. I have sent her the link and a photo of page 8 and the cat1 and cat2 countries and told her to just start doing that without waiting to be told. Thank you 😊

I read the NHS is going to ramp testing up to 10,000 a day with results being available within 24 hours?

Not sure how soon this is going to start though.

My son wants to go to the zoo for his birthday this weekend, I have asthma, would it be silly of me to wear a face mask as a precaution? I’ve even bought some for my children.
My husband thinks I’m being silly but I just want to do whatever I can to lower our risks of catching it.

Googling adoption llli and adoption also links to how to bring in a milk supply.

MurrayTheMonk · 11/03/2020 11:42

See that's weird to me re PM.Why would he not just be tested, presumably found not to have it if he's got no symptoms and that be used as a calming message for people: ie that yo can be around a person with it without getting it?

mylittlewoodenword · 11/03/2020 11:43

Or he was tested and came back as positive...

Homkaismycat · 11/03/2020 12:03

Poland and Austria shut all school for 2 weeks.

Lweji · 11/03/2020 12:20

Its not skin to skin, but whether pathogens are shed, through sweat, and then picked up on fingers and transferred to mouth?

This type of virus is not shed through sweat, as far as it's known. It would be very odd if it did. It's through droplets or fluids from mouth or nose, possibly coming from lungs, etc.

Hands should be washed because they come in contact with different surfaces, which may have been sneezed or coughed on, and because they are used to clean runny noses, etc.

WHO:
"People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick."

@cjt110- thanks for the petition link. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/300403

Fourducksate · 11/03/2020 12:32

Why is the PM in Parliament? Surely he has been in contact with an infected person. He saw her on Thursday, she was ill enough to self isolate on Friday?

Am I missing something?

rebecca102 · 11/03/2020 12:34

Omg stop already.

Nononoandno · 11/03/2020 13:02

Yeah there is a lot of key folk in the House of Commons today, all squashed up and cosy 🤔😷

MotherOfDragonite · 11/03/2020 13:11

@Langbannedforsafeguardingkids I think it is actually up to a 4-day delay at the moment. For example, even Nadine Dorries only found out her positive result yesterday (Tuesday) after being tested on the Friday. Not sure if there was an additional delay for the weekend but surely they need to be operating testing 24/7? or if this is standard.

tryingtoprep · 11/03/2020 13:19

Most MPs continuing as usual. I can only assume it's one of two reasons.

a) it's a much younger on average cohort of MPs than in the past, alhough still plenty over 60. I wonder if there's a bit of the arrogance of youth behind their decisions. They think they won't be one of the serious cases.
Or
b) They have priority access to (early) treatment, guaranteed hospital bed, and access to the drugs that have shown promise in treating it.

Do we have enough stock of these drugs for all the public?

FollowingNow · 11/03/2020 13:24

I am really frightened now. Want to pull my DS out of nursery but I don't see how I can work with him here - I'm freelance but I have 5 clients at the moment and I can't just work in the evenings.

FollowingNow · 11/03/2020 13:25

Also, does anyone know if the lady who died in Indonesia aged 53 had pre existing conditions? It says she was already critically ill when diagnosed but I don't know if that means she was critically ill with coronavirus or something else.

AvocadoOwl · 11/03/2020 13:26

I read that she was diabetic.

DressingGownofDoom · 11/03/2020 13:27

@FollowingNow save pulling him out of nursery until you really need to

SassyBrassyBitch · 11/03/2020 13:50

It is naughty of them.

Surely they know WHY people are buying it.

Twixes · 11/03/2020 13:53

I haven't been to the gym in a week. I'd be less concerned about sharing machines than breathing in other people's air. The spin class I go to is a sweatbox, the walls are covered with perspiration at the end of it Shock

I'm not going to cancel my membership though, it's a small business and they need the income.
