If you have any food colouring then try this. If not add some to your next shop/online order. It always brings a big smile.

We've been playing a lot of Settlers of Catan. The DC love it.

Love the photos. We're missing going up the mountains and forest.

expatinspain · 21/03/2020 13:55

MissMoiselle That would be pretty draconian measures. That would be longer than China, as things are starting to reopen there. I really hope that’s not the case. For people who have no outside space that’s just too long to ask them to stay indoors, never mind what it will do to the economy!! They should be working towards more testing and also tests to see who has had the virus. Who knows how many people have had it and are ok to go back to work and life, or at least go for a walk. People are getting a little hysterical here though, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there was public support for this. So many Spanish Facebook groups I’m on are firing around fake news posts and misinformation. Some of the mums from school are completely paranoid, they think it’s airborne, that the government are hiding numbers and that children are dying from it! It’s getting a little out of hand.

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 14:08

28elQuintoConyo - please would you be able to post the details of the Facebook group for face masks - I have a sewing machine.

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2020 14:41

You have to be invited into it, Sandwich via another WhatsApp person. If you want to pm me your phone number, in can send you the link.

So far there's 200+ people, others joining constantly, my phone's going to melt! But they have yet to confirm: materials needed, pattern, who to deliver to. So, a bit of patience needed which I have in spades as we're not exactly going anywhere HmmGrin

If you don't want to give your number, no problem.

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2020 14:42

Try this maybe?

I don't know if they're click into-able?

As MissMoiselle says. June wouldn't surprise me at all.

There's been 4 ambulances go down our street this morning.

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2020 15:55

Shit. Double shit.

BirdandSparrow · 21/03/2020 15:59

My friend's partner works at a homeless shelter, it's not directly part of the SAS (Andaluz health service) but a dependency or something or funded by them. Anyway, they've been told lockdown will probably be 45 days, which takes us to mid April. That makes sense to me. Avoids people going batshit and all heading for the beach at semana santa. I could also imagine it being lifted gradually, as in China.

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 16:43

Have PM'd you EQC.

I agree that June seems likely. Italy is what 1 or 2 weeks ahead of us and they don't appear to be having any slowdown at all so far.
Mr had to take our smallest cat to the vet this morning and got stopped going and coming back. Very polite but very stern. Always get a receipt or some sort of proof that you've been where you say you've been

BirdandSparrow · 21/03/2020 18:03

But I think once it peaks then things will change. Hopefully Italy is approaching its peak now. Such terrible figures, 794 in one day :(

Total in the UK now 220. They are following the same curve, can't believe they are still dithering.

I read Pedro Sanchez to talk at 9?

PotsOfPebbles · 21/03/2020 19:07

We just joined in with the clapping. It's beautiful everybody is joining together and showing support.

expatinspain · 21/03/2020 20:26

For those of you who have kids at public schools, specifically primary, are the schools doing online classes?

BillieEilish · 21/03/2020 20:36

DD is at private (public) school. Online classes start Monday at 9. Even P.E. as normal, just at home. She had an online meeting with her class yesterday and is excited.

I am so relieved she'll have something to do.

They're scared everyone will pull DC's out until September I reckon and want their money, we pay term to term. They would go bust.

If you mean public as in state schools, I think they gave out some work to do in my city. No online at all as far as I know.

BirdandSparrow · 21/03/2020 20:45

I have a DC in 6º and one in 3º in the public (state system). There are 2 local state schools. Ours has sent work home (from the books and project work) which we have to work through. With DD in 3º we have to correct it and send the results to her teacher via email.
The teachers have apparently started to train to use an online platform to deliver classes that way, but aren't ready yet and aren't sure how it will ork technologially (if some students don't have the means to access it for instance).
The other local school has just sent a list of ideas to keep up their skills.
So, quite different even in a small place.
I know someone with a child in an international school and they have proper online platform and virtual classes and so on from what I understand.
If both mine end up with online classes I'm not sure how it works with 2 kids and one laptop that I have to use for work?

BirdandSparrow · 21/03/2020 20:45

I suppose they could access through a tablet maybe?

Novia · 21/03/2020 20:52

Ours go to semi-private school, can't remember what that is called in Spanish. School communication is fairly poor at the best of times. They have been sending work for my eldest DD and the youngest is getting sort of theme suggestions which isn't wildly useful with 2 parents working full time from home.

Eldest had a class call last week and in theory the plan is a Skype lesson a day on different subjects, but not sure how long til they are actually ready to run it. I'm not overly anxious about school though as both are young enough to make the time back up in future, and everyone will be in the same boat. We are doing about an hour per day with them, but nothing too onerous.

Novia · 21/03/2020 20:54

I spent most of my day in the kitchen happily apocalypse cooking for the freezer as all the stuff we bought was going out of date at the same time! 😂 I drank an entire bottle of Cava and the kids watched TV all day! 😆 it poured with rain and felt oddly festive!

BillieEilish · 21/03/2020 21:01

Yes, TBH the English and French classes are a joke, so I teach DD them anyway, and set the coursework (she works on her own in a corner) I mark it at weekends.

We need the school for Maths, Valencia and Castellano, Science etc that's the only reason she's there. Didn't have enough points for a concertado and the state schools are taught in another dialect Hmm

But I totally agree, they will miss nothing at this age, it is more for something to do and be able to see her friends. DD is in 6th too.

BillieEilish · 21/03/2020 21:03

Novia Grin I had 4 v&t's and made a curry!

(Think maybe drinking to much...note to self)

Pouring here too.

PotsOfPebbles · 21/03/2020 21:03

Pedro Sánchez was just on. Good, moving speech. Was genuine and sincere. Stressed that we need to be united and stay in.

BillieEilish · 21/03/2020 21:05

Well I'm glad we're here and not the UK right now!

They are in complete denial.

PotsOfPebbles · 21/03/2020 21:17

Agreed 100%. The difference to Pedro Sánchez speaking to the country and Bozo speaking to the UK was worlds apart.
