Hi everyone. Sorry, it's hard for me to message during the day as I work full time and now have my DDs (4 & 7) at home too. But it is lovely to come online and read all your messages when they are in bed! It definitely makes me feel less alone, the UK and my whole family still don't get it.

@Nameisthegame - what an 'interesting' statue! 😂 I'm sorry your ex is being an arsehole... at least you don't have to see him!

@PotsOfPebbles - impressed with the pie! I have about 4 packs of butter in the fridge, you've inspired me to bake tomorrow!

@elquintoconyo - love the sign! We are at the end of a gated cul-de-sac so no one comes past our house sadly! I don't blame you for having a wobble, I keep seeing things online and having a little cry. I cried at a social post from Innocent Smoothies today for goodness sake! 😂

A 22 year old in Sabadell has died. He had Down Syndrome, that's his pre existing condition.

Translated...
Local Police reported last day and this morning a total of 104 people for violating alarm measures. Of these, 30 were reported to be on the streets without justification, either alone or in groups or sitting on benches; 26 to meet outdoors and consume alcohol in different squares and parks in the city; and ten who were traveling with more than one person inside a vehicle without any cause to justify it or being inside the vehicle parked with more than one person inside.
In our area.

@sandwichgirl - that's beautiful! We are also in the mountains (outside of Madrid) but in a much bigger town than yours. Can you get out for a quick walk without risk?

Beautiful pictures of the countryside, I miss going out for a walk.
Feeling a bit better today, had a possible translation offer for next week, hopefully it'll come through.
DH now home for the weekend after 7 days straight.

Nameisthegame · 20/03/2020 23:11

Oh your poor DH he must be exhausted, I’m glad you can spend sometime together and your feeling a bit better.

NOVIA - yes, we can get out for quite a long walk. We have 8 hectares of our own land - mixed olives/almonds/pine and scrubland to scramble around. We live up a track, not on a road and can walk right to the edge of the village without passing another house. On a busy day we may see one vehicle on the track - usually the farmer who owns the land next to ours going to tend his crops. We are completely off grid - no mains services at all.

Novia · 21/03/2020 07:22

@nameisthegame - you are amazing! That is so good! I'm going to save it down and print it for her! What a kind thought - thank you. Xxx

Novia · 21/03/2020 08:13

@sandwichgirl - I am so jealous! We moved here for the mountain right behind us, but we are not allowed to go! 😢

Wow, lovely photos of incredible views, really lifting my spirits. We live in a beautiful country, don't we Smile

I'm not working today, or tomorrow, so intend to do lots of exercise and child-focused activities. I've just downloaded and app called life lapse for making stop motion films. We have a great big book of science experiments and a string of other activities up my sleeve!

Have a good-enough day, everyone!

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2020 10:28

I've just been out with the dog, the weather is glorious! I said a cheerful bon dia to a couple of people, from a distance of about 8m+, got faces with a mix of disgust+fear back Confused not much of a feeling of solidarity from my part of Spain!

On a funnier note, o have joined a WhatsApp group that covers Spain asking for helpers with either a sewing machine or appropriate fabric to make masks Smile started yesterday, they have 200+ member in the Tarragones region alone, and increasing!

I never thought I'd miss Spanish noise levels! There's no sound of children, music, TV, trains, traffic, planes... It's like 28 Days Later.

BirdandSparrow · 21/03/2020 11:32

It's pissing it down in my bit of Spain. Kids are having masses of screen time today but I don't cre, they're happy enough. I might try to dye my hair today, DH got me a box of dye in carrefour. I have a lot of roots as I was due to go a bit before quarantine.

Might make cookies later.

Someone has been making masks in our village too, the alcalde shared it on FB.

Nearly 25,000 cases now. 1326 deaths. When is it supposed to peak?
I keep seeing things calling for the government to "cerrar Madrid", what do they mean, isn't it already on lockdown, like the rest of Spain?

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 11:40

Today's walk

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 11:46

I think people are still allowed to go to work in Madrid, you can food/pharmacy shop when you want & public transport is still running. A total lockdown would (I think) stop all but the most essential work and limit the number of times you can go shopping. Oh - and close all roads in and out with roadblocks to allow in only the most essential supplies. That's what's happening in the town's that are a hotspot here anyway.

MissMoiselle · 21/03/2020 11:52

For all the mums out there, twinkl is giving free resources. I'm not sure whether you need to be an existing subscriber or not, but they have really good and fun school (and non-academic) resources on there!

MissMoiselle · 21/03/2020 11:54

All is quiet in Alicante today. Don't see anybody out. We see a couple of people walking their dogs when we're walking ours. So nice to see somebody other than my husband Grin
Someone said yesterday that they're thinking about extending the lockdown into June. Does anyone have any info on this?

MissMoiselle · 21/03/2020 11:56

Also, I'm a French teacher so if anyone wants their kiddo to learn some French I'd happily volunteer my time. I'm absolutely hopeless with technology though, so apart from a whatsapp call I wouldn't know how to video call, ha!

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 12:13

Oh - we now have to fill a form when we go out to show if we're stopped.

Sandwichgirl · 21/03/2020 12:14

To be clearer - 'we' as in people living in Catalunya
