I think the government are protecting the tourist industry by throwing the British people under a bus.

alloutoffucks · 08/03/2020 18:55

Anyone else work in a place with number codes on doors that you have to press it get in? I have to punch in a number many times a day and there really is no way to keep your hands clean and do that. We don't even have any sanitiser at work.

santoslhalperrr · 08/03/2020 18:56

@alloutoffucks my hubby's work have little toothpicks you can use to press lift buttons etc

Lynatic · 08/03/2020 18:57

I started using gloves at ATM

PestyMachtubernahme · 08/03/2020 18:57

When it comes to treating pneumonia
deaths per million 2001–10
statistics.blf.org.uk/pneumonia

Italy - 39.3

UK - 213.9

Italy is much, much better than us at this. Especially given their elderly population

Confuddledtown · 08/03/2020 18:58

@santoslhalperrr thank you!!

namechangemania · 08/03/2020 18:58

@alloutoffucks yep me! Several codes on doors to press multiple times a day. Also the poles on the bus, button to stop the bus, pedestrian crossing buttons to actually GET to work.

I'm struggling to understand how they could have gone ahead with the womans march all over Europe?

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 19:00

I just think there is too much misinformation in the media that children can't catch it. It isn't true. It also isn't true that only old people get really sick

Totally agree about misinformation. Trying to be very careful about what to post and where to signpost to for that very reason as its in everyone's best interest sto be properly and accurately informed for their own decision making for themselves and their families.

The numbers that have been continually reported across these threads show clearly zero under 10's (so far), then increasing up to over 80's with highest risk.

On that basis, no it isnt only the older generations, but they are the hardest hit and need community protection.

Well ofwarren I thought there was one scheduled for tomorrow but now I can't find mention of it Sad

NotJustACigar · 08/03/2020 19:01

Thank you Running. I think I will send an email to the participants to gauge opinions.

SistemaAddict · 08/03/2020 19:02

Even more worrying if Italy is better at treating pneumonia than us yet so many are dying there. My dad was treated for pneumonia in Italy. Years ago now. I'm glad now he had it there and not here.

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 19:03

I've been using gloves too.

At the GP sign in screen, and lifts, and rails

Using garage forecourt plastic gloves for handling the pump nozzle etc.

Yes, another barrier.

Why wouldn't they go ahead with the women's march when so many people are saying it is just flu, and wrongly saying more people die from flu every year.

My local news is now on and my county and only one other in my region have zero cases. I fear it’s only a matter of time until it’s here though.....

Fourducksate · 08/03/2020 19:08

You're on thread 17 stop this now... Surely you're increasing the concern

I’m sorry if you’re concerned perhaps it would be better for you not to follow this thread, there are others available.

Personally it’s not increasing my concern and probably not the majority of posters.

The discussions, the links, the extrapolation of figures on here is an amazing resource and I find extremely interesting, almost fascinating (without being morbid) the science behind the spread.

I am also old enough and intelligent enough to check sources and look at everything in context.

Awkward1 · 08/03/2020 19:08

what do you think about the risk for asthmatics?

I dont understand about the elderly either how would they avoid going out for maybe a year.

Can we do a petition so that parents are allowed to take dc out with no fines?

Even a few less would slow spread

So if Spanish flu lasted 2 years did it just die out on its own? I presume it was before vaccinations?

I’m going to Loughborough uni next week....😬

onalongsabbatical · 08/03/2020 19:11

@santoslhalperrr deeply grateful to you for posting that pregnancy info link as my younger daughter has just announced her first pregnancy and I'll be worrying on her behalf (and trying to prevent her from worrying).

Lynatic · 08/03/2020 19:12
