@ofwarren thank you

tud41 · 08/03/2020 17:31

@SuckingDieselFella careful on this thread unless you post doomsday scenarios or real life disaster movie situations you will get flamed... Think my time on this thread is over. Ill see you all on the other side .....hopefully

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 17:31

The close school petition link is already in the OP

Also, the chief medical officer has confirmed that this will have massive economic impact, with very little benefit, as yet unknown benefit - as children do not have the receptors in their lungs that CV19 binds to.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 08/03/2020 17:32

The last Italian official bulletin was released this morning and referred to yesterday's figures.
Nothing yet today officially from the Health Ministry.

SuckingDieselFella · 08/03/2020 17:32

@HasaDigaEebowai

I wasn't referring to Sky, etc.

I was referring to reddit, a "community journalist", i.e. an untrained one, and the information that has no sources at all.

HerstoryInTheMaking · 08/03/2020 17:33

Breaking 1500 new cases in Italy and 133 new deaths, death toll rises in Italy to 366.

Bearbehind · 08/03/2020 17:33

You're posting random, unreliable and unverifiable information. Why are you doing this? Is it your intention to scare people?

This poster just reposts straight from Worldometers

They obviously have huge anxiety issues but I agree, it’s just scare mongering mixed with the ‘thrill’ of posting this news first

Trouble is, there’s plenty of doom mongers on here who are happy to fan the flames (several because Brexit has got a bit boring)

ofwarren · 08/03/2020 17:34

All but 2 of the new deaths in Italy were 60 or older and most had underlying health conditions - CNN

georgedawes · 08/03/2020 17:34

Thanks for your posts ofwarren.

The Italy numbers are horrifying. 133 deaths in one day, speechless.

SuckingDieselFella · 08/03/2020 17:34

@DonkeyKong2019

You need to get a new dictionary and look up "unreliable".

Mind you, if you think "fuck off" is an intelligent contribution...

DonkeyKong2019 · 08/03/2020 17:35

I'm not fearing it although I do have a son and a dad both with shit lungs BUT I do find it really interesting to track. Sure I don't be alone in finding it interesting!

tobermoryisthebestwomble · 08/03/2020 17:35

Thank you @ofwarren . Your updates ensure I get the news first on what's occuring globally. I don't have time to sift and I'm not clever enough to use a bit that scours the world news sites

seasmize · 08/03/2020 17:35

Also, the chief medical officer has confirmed that this will have massive economic impact, with very little benefit, as yet unknown benefit - as children do not have the receptors in their lungs that CV19 binds to.

That’s false I’m afraid. A recent study from Shenzhen showed children got it as much as anyone, just more mildly.

HerstoryInTheMaking · 08/03/2020 17:35

Death toll in Italy looking closes to 5%. Of the cases that need ICU's 65% of the age of 60. However 35% are under 60. Not just elderly!

1 in 6 cases currently require ICU. Healthcare systems will struggle with this including NHS. Regardless of funding the demand for ICU's would be enormous.

HairyFloppins · 08/03/2020 17:36

Really hope it starts to slow down in Italy soon. I really feel for them all.

What the hell is going on there?

Delatron · 08/03/2020 17:36

I’m not sure why posting current figures is ‘scaremongering’.

NettleTea · 08/03/2020 17:36

Jesus, Italy jettisoned into 2nd place

Janemarpling · 08/03/2020 17:36

I have been following with caution but those Italy stats are truly terrifying.

We need to act now.

FingonTheValiant · 08/03/2020 17:36

If you want to alert people to misinformation perhaps be clearer in your posts then. Just saying that reporting a French politician is infected is misleading when several are, as confirmed by multiple, reliable French sources, doesn’t really illustrate that does it?

I’m not basing any of my decisions on ofwarren’s posts, I live in France and I’m following our news outlets here. But ofwarren is attempting to synthesise a large amount of information to help people, and the vast majority of it is confirmed.

littledrummergirl · 08/03/2020 17:36

OfWarren, we got to pg 9 this time. Please keep updating.

Jumpingintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 17:37

I've known several teens complain of mild sore throats, cough etc.

SuckingDieselFella · 08/03/2020 17:37

@Bearbehind

I hadn't heard of worldometers but that looks about right.

OldQueen1969 · 08/03/2020 17:38

Is this overall situation not a bit scary? We are hardwired to fear the unknown.

Sharing information and picking through to get to the truth is not really scaremongering. If I read dubious things I scroll on by or google myself.

Posters here are providing a variety of information and sources which one can verify or debunk oneself, and update accordingly.

DonkeyKong2019 · 08/03/2020 17:38

All but 2 of the 133 were over 60. That's quite perspective putting for how vulnerable they are

Delatron · 08/03/2020 17:39

The Italy situation is so worrying. The experts need to work out what went wrong there. So it doesn’t replicate elsewhere at that speed and scale. Were they not testing enough? All from this one marathon runner guy (who at 36 now has pneumonia)
