Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

Thanks bellini

We stocked up on bog roll a while back when there was an offer and dh bought some at the wholesalers on Saturday cos they were on offer

So hopefully we are good for a wee while at least Grin

But i do have a load of old flannel Grin

Nearly47 · 09/03/2020 10:49

I had to buy the most expensive make and there was just couple left on the shelf. From all things to stockpile it is a weird one.
Couple of weeks ago I did replenish my cupboards with grains, flours and tinned food etc so I would be OK if I need to go on isolation. But nothing major and as there was plenty on the shelves I don't think my choices were very popular with others stockpilers Smile

ClientQueen · 09/03/2020 12:21

I've come to work and we have no soap. Can't order any as none available, same for desk wipes etc etc Hmm

TheGreatWave · 09/03/2020 12:40

Just been to my Dunelm, plenty of zoflora and if very desperate plenty of method handwash. (£2.50 a bottle)

Time to think outside the box. Wink

ColourMyDreams · 09/03/2020 12:47

Dunno why people don't just buy a load of cheap flannels... reuseable/washable loo roll!
@Fuckyoumenopause One of my friends has a daughter with learning difficulties. She refuses to wipe her bum on anything but face flannels, and she uses around a dozen at a time. Her mum collects them from the bathroom bin, and after a soak in miltons, boil washes and dries them ready for the next time.
Maybe she knew something we don't Grin

I bet those with bidets are laughing 😂

busymomtoone · 09/03/2020 13:55

Be a fascinating social experiment to map the selfish and not so selfish areas of the country! You can bet the selfish areas with panic buying will surely also have the greatest rate of infection because they”ll be the same ones that can’t be bothered to take proper hygiene precautions, ( they’re panic buying loo roll not soap!!) , know little about the virus ( it doesn’t make you poop) AND as they are only out for themselves, probably wouldn’t self- isolate if poorly. On the other hand , the socially responsible, caring areas more likely to look after neighbours, do their best to avoid spreading germs etc. Darwinism at its best, wish someone could map it - bet my theory is right !!

AngelicaKauffman · 09/03/2020 13:58

I bet those with bidets are laughing

Laughing and STILL wondering why entire nations insist on wiping with nothing but dry paper!

lynfordthecrab · 09/03/2020 14:15

The shelves are empty were we are. No loo roll, no paracetamol. hand sanitisers are non existent. Seriously, people are being f**king stupid. And everywhere I see posts like this condeming it and everyone saying, I'm not, I'm not blah blah but someone is otherwise the shelves wouldn't be empty!! Funny how "those" people are staying very quiet!

BrimfulofSasha · 09/03/2020 14:16

I went shopping Sunday afternoon- I never normally shop at the weekend as the shelves are normally bare. I was surprised that it was better stocked than usual.

Obviously no panic buying here.
I don't understand why it's affected loo roll quite so much. I can understand dried foor- although still think it's a little crazy.

TabbyMumz · 09/03/2020 14:21

Corona virus has been around for a while now and we had quite a while before it came to the UK. I'm surprised the Givernment didnt start to get the ball rolling in terms if us having enough stock to wash hands with.

Ethelfleda · 09/03/2020 14:42

Actually had my food shopping delivered this morning with only 2 subs. And they were sensible ones. We had actually almost run out of hand soap so had to get a different brand - looks like nobody is buying the all natural vegan soaps! I’m sure they’ll do just as good a job!

Fr0g · 09/03/2020 14:52

the loo rol I tracked down at the weekend isn't my usual brand.
It's horrid, and the shop only had a huge pack that will last forever.

Fuckyoumenopause · 09/03/2020 15:39

@ColourMyDreams Exactly. Back in the days of Terry towelling nappies it was good enough then! Surely better for the pocket/environment long term too Smile

icannotremember · 09/03/2020 17:54

Just out of interest have the people who stockpiled for Brexit still have those stocks or have they now realised Brexit will not mean starvation

Given the government's apparent hard on for no deal after the transition virus, adding to the Brexit stockpiles seems a lot wiser than doing away with them

icannotremember · 09/03/2020 17:55

*transition stage

don't know where virus came from Confused

TheSquitz · 09/03/2020 18:03

Go ancient Roman and use a sponge on a stick.

Superleo837 · 09/03/2020 18:31

What I can’t understand is that I haven’t seen anyone buying more than they should??!! Are they coming in the night???

TheGreatWave · 09/03/2020 18:42

I went to the shops today, no hand sanitizer, but it seems loo roll and cleaning products are stocking back up. Home Bargains had big boxes of bleach for example.

Connie999 · 09/03/2020 20:08

Totally agree, exactly what I was thinking!

Oysterbabe · 09/03/2020 20:49

Someone stole the bottles of handwash from the toilets in the office block where I work. If you're worried about hygiene then stopping people from being able to wash their hands after using the toilet is not the best approach I'd say 🤔

Fairenuff · 09/03/2020 21:01

Loads of everything where I am. No impact at all on the shelves.

toomuchtooold · 09/03/2020 21:14

What I can’t understand is that I haven’t seen anyone buying more than they should??!! Are they coming in the night

I reckon that with just in time supply chains and the massive range of stock UK supermarkets carry, it probably doesn't take more to destock than everyone coming in and thinking "I'll just pick up some bog roll and some extra tins and packets just in case."

Itwasntme1 · 09/03/2020 21:32

Fairnuff - is there hand sanitiser, I can’t find it anywhere!

Fairenuff · 09/03/2020 21:45

Yep. Plenty of everything at the moment. I'm in the south.
