Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

@bellinisurge No, not to me!

skyblu · 08/03/2020 21:48

YANBU
It’s the same everywhere and it’s bang out of order!
Whoever it is doing this, need to stop it and calm the F down! This is irresponsible, selfish & ridiculous behaviour, which will end up having more of a detrimental effect on people than the damned virus.

Itwasntme1 · 08/03/2020 21:53

I could survive for two weeks - just about!

My problem would be medicine if I was sick. One packet of paracetamol might not cut it!

picklemewalnuts · 08/03/2020 22:22

If you've not done your panic shop yet, can I suggest hand cream? All this relentless handwashing is taking its toll...Grin

sleepingpup · 08/03/2020 22:30

isn't it @picklemewalnuts !

Waiting for the 2nd wave hand cream shortage.

Itwasntme1 · 08/03/2020 22:44

I have just gone through my reject gift draw and pulled out all the bloody hand creams I get every year.

It will finally be useful.

Still a shit present

Fuckyoumenopause · 08/03/2020 22:55

Dunno why people don't just buy a load of cheap flannels... reuseable/washable loo roll!

caringcarer · 08/03/2020 23:07

The only thing i gave stocked up more than normal is cat milk, cat food and dog food. I have 6 cats and 2 dogs they are fussy eaters liking pouches in gravy not jelly and chicken breasts. I bought latge pack of those too. we have a freezer full of meat and veg and a cupboard of tins so no room or need to buy more. Our Sainsbury had plenty of toilet rolls so bought large pack to keep us going. If anyone is having a problem getting things order online as those orders seem to be happening ok.

caringcarer · 08/03/2020 23:09

Just out of interest have the people who stockpiled for Brexit still have those stocks or have they now realised Brexit will not mean starvation.

earnshaw47 · 08/03/2020 23:27

what is it about toilet rolls, am I missing something

SkelingtonArgument · 08/03/2020 23:34

Brexit hasn’t happened yet. We’ll be going through exactly the same scenario next January when the ports are at a standstill if there’s a no deal Brexit

angelfacecuti75 · 09/03/2020 03:19

No hand gel in Rochester southeast

bellinisurge · 09/03/2020 06:23

No deal Brexit hasn't happened (yet). Let's see how much stomach people have for playing chicken with supply chains by 31 December 2020 (end of transition period)

CountryGirl1234 · 09/03/2020 07:25

I don’t blame people for getting an extra pack, that seems reasonable, not wanting to go out in the thick of it.
My dad and FIL are poorly and I either don’t see them or try to keep away from this bloody virus. I’m worried what it would do to them as they’re already not well.
I have pregnant friends and live in the middle of nowhere. I’ve also got kidney issues and have no idea what the one upshot of this virus would be. Last thing I want to think about is running out of essentials. That said I only have one pack extra. And no flippin paracetamol b&m shek es bare and heasache from hell day 2.
Also you don’t know ifpeople are shopping for others, older people who are more exposed. So be kind!

ivykaty44 · 09/03/2020 07:59

I do think that it is worthwhile realising that people need to plan ahead in the future.
Making a list of storecupboard food meals & slowly & steadily stock your cupboards for 63 meals for lunch breakfast & dinner.

Having spare food with long shelf life is sensible for many reasons, not just now but for life’s events.

Not having to spend money or go out to get food, but having enough to keep going for 3 weeks would be a good precaution and avoids panic purchasing

Kim1010 · 09/03/2020 08:39

As I've said we buy in bulk anyway, but the stores here seem to have plenty of everything, other than travel hand sanitisers ..
Having dogs we carry a stock of those for after poop picking up Blush

I think we should all make sure the elderly around us are managing and have ample provisions, being careful not to share any virus with them though.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/03/2020 08:49

fuck

Stupid question alert

If you use flannels how do you use stored used one...do you just use them for wee....do you just pop them on a boil wash

I suppose its like reusable nappies

I know that more than one stupid question Grin

bellinisurge · 09/03/2020 08:57

@RufustheLanglovingreindeer , my secret plan X (which I would deploy only if we were desperate) is to use cut up flannel sheets or shirts. Colour coded per family member. I would probably use once for wee and put in a wet bag - we have a few for DD's reusable sanpro.
I also have a kind of portable bidet thing.
Boil wash those bad boys probably daily.
Again, plan X (Grin) is hardly something I'd expect to deploy for a couple of weeks lock down. Mainly because I have plenty of bog roll. What with being a general prepper .
Couple of weeks lockdown with all the utilities working is nothing to to an actual prepper.

Graceambrose · 09/03/2020 09:10

Hopefully supermarkets will continue to supply essential products via internet shopping.

differentnameforthis · 09/03/2020 09:16

@Summercat How much bog roll do YOU use each time you have a shit? A pack of 9 lasts me and DH a sodding month!

Good for you. I can go through a roll a day when I have an IBS flare up.

However, still not panic buying

Kim1010 · 09/03/2020 09:31

Those worried about lack of loo roll, what about wet wipes?
They come in all sorts for faces, babies etc etc
Wink

Pebbles574 · 09/03/2020 09:43

My sainsbury order is due to arrive shortly and the only substitution is some 'coconut scented' bog roll (WTF?) for ordinary. No sanitiser or cleaning wipes, but I expected that (weren't available when I ordered).

TheGreatWave · 09/03/2020 09:52

pebbles there would be war on in my house if those loo rolls turned up, DD hates anything coconut scented.

I'm sure though given the choice of that or newspaper she would use the loo roll.

JunkshopLil · 09/03/2020 10:25

I must live in a very laid back part of the UK, or a very well stocked one, as I have encountered none of the shortages reported in the national press and on here? I've had no problem getting anything. Just got back from big weekly shop and have everything I need including Dettol wipes (which I use anyway for my desk and computer keyboards as I work from home).

Ethelfleda · 09/03/2020 10:34

Just out of interest have the people who stockpiled for Brexit still have those stocks or have they now realised Brexit will not mean starvation

Brexit hasn’t actually happened yet Confused
And this was in response to a potential no deal exit. Which didn’t happen. Surely you understand the difference??
