Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

The loo roll lorry arrived as I shopped Friday night in Sainsbury’s , whole lot restocked. They’ll restock.Confused

Arrowfanatic · 07/03/2020 19:04

I went to our large tesco earlier. Hand wash was fine, pasta looked low. Loo roll was fine also.

Blackbirdblue30 · 07/03/2020 19:11

In Dublin. No notable shortages yet, except hand sanitizer, although I did see a woman getting 48 loo rolls and half the pasta aisle. I think our panic buying will start very soon as our government is doing nothing and the whole city is currently swarmed with Italians.

Kuponut · 07/03/2020 19:42

Elderly couple in front of us in Asda had 4 12-packs of loo roll and another 4 multi packs of kitchen towel in their trolley. Either they have really really bad bowel habits or they were panic buying.

PickAChew · 07/03/2020 19:57

Just been to my local coop and can confirm we'll stocked shelves. Pasta, rice, soap, hand-wash, tissues and several types of bog roll. And wine. Plenty of wine.

PotholeParadise · 07/03/2020 20:00

I'm not sure what makes me laugh more: the panic buying, or the people who didn't realise that people would panic buy toilet tissue, handwash and painkillers as soon as we had more than a few cases of coronavirus in the UK.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/03/2020 20:06

@Amanduh

At least three people at the checkout buying more than one 9 pack. Insane.

That's because Tesco has a 2 for £6.00 offer on its own brand 9 roll pack.

Fleetheart · 07/03/2020 20:13

Surely with all the people having bought in bulk, we will be able to get back to normal patterns soon as they will all be stocked up and not need any more ?

TypingError · 07/03/2020 20:32

Yup. Completely agree. Once they've filled their houses to bursting they'll stop.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 07/03/2020 20:41

Not feeling too smug as this is all more of a
Coincidence than planning! I'm a primary teacher with Crohn's disease so I always have hand sanitiser in my classroom. After a bad first term with many bugs I stocked up in January and have 4 500ml bottles in my classroom. I did donate one to the front office which is down by half in a week!

I also wear a bath and body works hand gel on my land yard as they have moisturising beads in. They have just doubled in price on eBay!

Symbollove · 07/03/2020 20:43

@summercat your not seeing the hysteria yet went to 12 different stores....right then Confused

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 07/03/2020 20:46

Posted too soon! We also use amazon subscribe and save and have toilet rolls delivered every two months. We had loads left and I was too late to stop the next order so it looks like we are stock piling but haven't really. We will share with our neighbours and our cleaner if they struggle to get some.

Amazon do have loo rolls but no sanitiser now. I did buy some online in case I run out before the situation improves. I so wish that instead of making classes bigger they supplied all schools with cleaning products and enough money to afford better cleaning services. I am cleaning my classroom door handles and others every day at the moment.

doadeer · 07/03/2020 20:48

Use who gives a crap for toilet role - it's an ethical company and you can get a subscription

doadeer · 07/03/2020 20:48

Toilet roll 🙄

Shandied · 07/03/2020 20:49

I always have some in as when youre needing the loo up to 5 times a day you don't want to be short! My neighbour was saying earlier she couldn't find any in store and online locally was showing out of stock, I gave her a pack of 12 and helped her with an amazon order, hopefully it arrives for her!

MrsToothyBitch · 07/03/2020 21:19

There's hardly any pasta, precious little soap and no anti-bac stuff left near me. Our Savers has a sign saying they're out of hand sanitizer. I bought a bar of dettol soap as it was all that was left that wasn't
£££ or foul in Boots and I realised I don't really have spare. I'm in Surrey and I bought a couple of things before they went out of stock since we really are low and made sure I had disinfectant but otherwise I haven't done too much stocking- I don't have the room for all of it, tbh.

If you want soap, any soap try your local TK Maxx. Ours still had loads left.

SudokuQueen · 07/03/2020 21:20

My local Tesco had very little soap, eggs or toilet roll. Everything else was fine though. Still managed to get some of all thankfully as we had run out.

Leflic · 07/03/2020 21:53

I’ve done my weekly online shop and many items including eggs and tinned tomatoes said you could only have a maximum of 2.

There’s empty shelves in the three supermarkets in town but the larger out of town did have Andrex left.
I didn’t buy any. I don’t like Andrex.

Hopefully lots more people will get the virus, get over it and be perfectly fine like the ones interviewed. So it will have to be treated like any other bug rather than some plague.

lljkk · 07/03/2020 22:06

Does this mean people are actually USING hand sanitiser?
I just wonder if folk are buying it but only storing & hoarding it...

mnthrowaway202020 · 07/03/2020 22:08

Sort of shocked that actual hand wash soap is sold out in my local store, as opposed to just hand sanitizer gel. Shocked at the intelligence of my locals that it, unless they’re planning to resell.

Lockheart · 07/03/2020 22:41

My little Waitrose had toilet paper, but the painkillers and soaps (except fancy brands) were gone!

Luckily I don't need any of those things at the moment - we're a big house so we order toilet roll online in bulk anyway, and I have a spare bar of soap in the cupboard along with a couple of half-finished packs of paracetamol etc. But I was curious to see this panic buying.

I didn't go in either of the two Sainsbury's or the Tesco though.

I've got a half bottle of hand sanitiser in my handbag and there's loads at work all over the place. If I see some for sale I might pick up another but I'm not going to break my neck looking.

lljkk · 07/03/2020 22:49

I noticed 27p paracetamol in my Lidl today...
tbh, I have a lot of painkillers already. I think that I take a lot of painkillers. Why do people need to stock up -- how much do they need??

LucaFritz · 07/03/2020 23:38

Has anyone else figured thay hand sanitizer and anti bac stuff doesn't even work on viruses Hmm seems like the entire country is oblivious

Custardo · 07/03/2020 23:43

we don't hve a telly so didn't know this was a this til erlier today. we have bog roll at the local shop - if you need me to send you some will cost 4.00 plus pnp also this is for two

sleepingpup · 08/03/2020 00:54

@LucaFritz Sorry you have it wrong there.
60% plus alcohol sanitiser can break down the outer 'envelope' of covid 19 virus and then the virus itself will degrade. So yes hand sanitiser is effective as an interim hand washing measure.
