@nellodee Yes, I think in Wuhan they sort of have some advantages- as you say the rest of the world isn't in the same situation, so they can import stuff- including medicines and food if necessary. The country hasn't already taken an economic hit, and there are lots of healthy people around to do things like building new hospitals and processing test kits and so on.
There's also a strong desire to stop the spread to the rest of the country and the world- and the eyes of the world are on them!
Obviously there were initial problems too, with an initial cover up, and an initial high death rate due to a lack of understanding on how best to treat the virus.
To take it wider than the UK, the whole world could go on a Wuhan style lockdown and that would probably halt the spread, but it's also not viable for huge numbers of reasons, and you'd end up with people dying for other reasons.
Every government has got to take a balancing act- I'm not saying ours is striking the right balance, but they've got to consider what is viable and what people will put up with as well!
