It's hit Scotland now

Ciwirocks · 01/03/2020 20:30

greasyspooncafe I have avoided family returning from Italy and I will continue to avoid them for the full 2 weeks. I don’t think you are overreacting

Roominmyhouse · 01/03/2020 20:30

@Wehttam I hadn’t really thought about it until he said it!

@YoursTunbridgeWells the venue we are going to is a 10k capacity.

Guess I’ll just mentally prepare that it could be cancelled. If it’s not I think I’ll still go, I’m in good heath and not been overly concerned but that could change as the week goes on!

Oakmaiden · 01/03/2020 20:30

@Keynote1 I think if anxiety about this is making you ill, you need to make a determined effort to step away and do other things. The world will go on as it will, without you torturing yourself with worry about what might happen.

The chances are, it will all work out fine in the end. And if it doesn't, you can't change that. But you can change how you are spending your time and energy. I know it is easier said than done.

iMoan7 · 01/03/2020 20:30

If it’s going to happen it’s going to happen. What’s the point in worrying about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Filitheyofun · 01/03/2020 20:31

Greasyspooncafe no you are not overacting see them in 2 weeks

HeIenaDove · 01/03/2020 20:31

Niece has booked to go to BTS gig but its not until July.

copperstrike76 · 01/03/2020 20:32

@Number12 Does anyone else have a partner who thinks you are totally over reacting and giving you the "its just flu" line.

Yep, my DH has said that line - ! It is a real worry to me, though I am inclined to anxiety anyway (and he is the exact opposite).

@YoursTunbridgeWells I'm with you on wanting things like gigs to be banned. DH is going to the 6 Music festival at the weekend - it's at Camden Roundhouse and I think the capacity is over 3,000. I wish they would just ban events like that for the time being because there is no way he won't go.

@LoveLuna I'm quite close to you (Godalming) and was at the Haslemere Museum at half term. I don't think your DD's college will ask students from Haslemere to stay away, but I agree that it is a good idea. I have had a look at your community Facebook page - I was looking last night. I can understand why people would want the person to be named, tbh.

Filitheyofun · 01/03/2020 20:33

Overreacting Blush

dementedma · 01/03/2020 20:33

Haven’t read the whole thread but think a lot of people are being whipped into anxiety and hysteria by the media. if my brother in China can remain pretty chilled about it, I don’t see any reason to get wound up. I’m more worried about the current outbreak of mumps at the moment

magicrainbowbeans · 01/03/2020 20:34

greasy I would say you are saner than most people right now

Oakmaiden · 01/03/2020 20:34

If it’s not I think I’ll still go, I’m in good heath and not been overly concerned but that could change as the week goes on!

This is the thing, isn't it. I think I would do the same as you - because the chances of catching the virus currently at a gig are miniscule. However, all those miniscule chances people take add up - and though I will almost certainly be fine if I catch it, can I say the same for everyone I might pass it on to?

It is such a thing to get my head around.

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 01/03/2020 20:34

@Keynote1 I would suggest (in a completely gentle and kind way) that at this point you should probably step away from the news and the online updates.
Do what you can to be prepared in RL, eg extra shopping, but There's no sense in making your mental health suffer by reading about it online and tracking cases etc.

FingonTheValiant · 01/03/2020 20:34

Just checked the updated advice for schools here in France and we're now letting all returning asymptomatic travellers back to school as long as they haven't been to Hubei or one of the two French clusters. Apparently we're past the stage of stopping it arriving so it's pointless. They have however cancelled all overseas school trips until further notice.

Wehttam · 01/03/2020 20:35

Sainsbury’s where I’m at was out of frozen vegetarian items, lots of bottled water options, flour and yeast. Asked about thermometers which they were out of too. Hand sanitizers sold out in huge city centre boots.

Number12 · 01/03/2020 20:35

@Screamer1 @BiBiBirdie

I think the stats speak for themselves but my dh is adamant that I'm over reacting. I admit I am a bit on the nervous side with illness but we have no family help and im a wuss when ill Blush plus two kids with asthma and one croup prone....

What can you say when a doctor says its nothing worry about?!

Roominmyhouse · 01/03/2020 20:36

@Oakmaiden it’s a tough one isn’t it!

MaryHerbert · 01/03/2020 20:36

Wash hands for coronavirus prevention.... yes, this with a cherry on top!

Or you could follow the advice given here:

Oakmaiden · 01/03/2020 20:36

I can understand why people would want the person to be named, tbh.

Thing is, if you know someone who has it, then you almost certainly know who they are. And if you don't know them, why would you need to know?

Keynote1 · 01/03/2020 20:37

I spent time with a friend who has returned from abroad over the weekend, they have been back a week, not on the list for any issues and they have been back for over a week but I have got totally obsessed with this as well, nobody else had an issue or worries about it, called 111 for advise and they said no issues but I am truly terrified, daughter has suggested I call dr to get valium as I am so stressed.

WitchDoc · 01/03/2020 20:38

32 countries have reported their 1st coronavirus cases this week.

But it is NOT a pandemic rememberHmm

Oakmaiden · 01/03/2020 20:39

@Keynote1 Do you often suffer from health anxiety?

ofwarren · 01/03/2020 20:40
