@Crunchymum it's already been proven that this virus can and has been spreading by people with no symptoms.

ofwarren · 28/02/2020 11:00

It's up from 49 Lark
Sorry, I just had to confirm with the account who posted the information.

ofwarren · 28/02/2020 11:01

Geneva International Motor Show canceled due to #Coronavirus outbreak

SirVixofVixHall · 28/02/2020 11:01

First case in Wales, but no news on where yet.
I would consider pulling children out of school, but my eldest is doing her GCSEs . Actually wish the schools would close.

Quartz2208 · 28/02/2020 11:01

Dominic Italy current official death rate is 2.5% of cases. Iran is now at 9% as well.

That said I do expect given the fact it hits the over 65s more (China has 9% of the pop Italy has 22%) that would affect things as well

DominicCummingsForehead · 28/02/2020 11:02

@RunningAwaywiththeCircus Yes, our Government are being utterly shite and I have no faith whatsoever that they will get their arses into gear before it's too late - if at all.

ofwarren · 28/02/2020 11:06

The good thing about older children SirVix is that they are generally more hygienic that the young ones. Less likely to cough in each others faces or wipe snot on their hands or hold hands or put things in their mouth.
My 17 year old is at college and he takes his handgel and gets fully changed when he comes home.

grannycake · 28/02/2020 11:07

The Welsh case is Swansea. On the BBC website- travelled back from Italy

Sassenach85 · 28/02/2020 11:11

I’m in the north of Scotland and have so far not heard any case or suspects up here, however we have just been issued a letter today from school about Coronavirus risks and updates and stringent hand washing, stay off if you are ill

LarkDescending · 28/02/2020 11:22

The PM has convened a COBRA meeting for Monday. Not before time.

HIVpos · 28/02/2020 11:25

I have a question...perhaps someone like @Lweji can answer?

Tests generally are not 100% reliable. They can also test for different things - the virus itself, or antibodies that might only be created after the virus takes hold in response to it, or antigens that might appear first of all. What does the COVID-19 test actually test for?

Although I haven’t seen the detail, there has also been mention of people contracting it twice...what’s that all about?

I do think that regardless the test will eventually not be worth doing. It will also be interesting to see if stats for flu go up as cases that might otherwise have gone unreported are now officially diagnosed when testing for CV.

Humina · 28/02/2020 11:27

Is there any reason why they couldn't have convened Cobra for tomorrow?

ofwarren · 28/02/2020 11:28

2 new cases of #Coronavirus in #Croatia

DominicCummingsForehead · 28/02/2020 11:28

@Humina that's what I thought!

ittakes2 · 28/02/2020 11:30

placemarked

Humina · 28/02/2020 11:30

Just so bloody lazy and unresponsive, isn't it? They could have done this already.

AmelieTaylor · 28/02/2020 11:30

I'll bin that", and he has also said "It's just a flu" and "I hope I get it, because then I get a nice rest and 2 weeks in bed."

Jesus, he sounds like he’s 15.

NettleTea · 28/02/2020 11:31

Im guessing Mr Johnson doesnt fancy working over the weekend

LarkDescending · 28/02/2020 11:31

Myth-busting - from the Guardian.

Humina · 28/02/2020 11:31

They could also behave like responsible grown ups and appear on all national TV and radio stations instead of continuing with their petty wanker boycotts.

This is why I have very little faith they will deal with this effectively.

NettleTea · 28/02/2020 11:32

Im also assuming that Mr Johnson thinks he can fly himself back out to some isolated luxury place like Mustique until it all blows over, if needs be

DoomMerchant · 28/02/2020 11:32

fucks sakes, it like the handwashing campaign to be released NEXT WEEK!

Death is knocking in our door and the Gov are doing fuckall

Humina · 28/02/2020 11:34

It's a disgrace. It really is.
