Ireland - wearing black armbands for a game near October 7th?

So the Irish football team thought it would be some sort of protest to wear black armbands for their recent mat h against Israel and guess what strangely the Israeli team wore black armbands for the victims of the worst terrorist atrocity in their country. So the Irish were left wearing black armbands for victims of the Israeli Gaza conflict but I guess not the victims of October 7th? No wonder the Israeli players were pissed. Ireland then dress and threw the dummy out the pram by saying they shouldn't be playing Israel again......pretty pathetic.

You can also see how for countries like Ireland October 7th is being erased from history as when they went for their black armband protest they probably very stupidly forgot about the proximity of a day of Israeli national mourning.

There is , sadly , far more antisemitism in the UK than you realise. It has increased exponentially recently. Jews in the UK have ten times as much chance of being attacked victim of a hate crime than Muslims do .

I know that the UK is over run with Jew hate. We get the news all the way over here, we have seen the stabbings and the killings.

I still think that a large part of the support in the UK for Israel comes from anti Muslim feeling.

2 things can be true.

Sadly the killings have all been carried out by Islamic terrorists, who I doubt identify as British.

@AgeingMillennial You are becoming boring with your constant use of telling anyone who disagrees with you that they are not " special". And comparing any other historical movement of people to Palestine is irrelevant.

Can you respond to the images I posted above where an article in the Belfast Telegraph, where a man is fearing an antisemitic attack, was mainly met by laughing emojis?

Things like this.

Check out those reactions.

And for once don’t hand wave it away.

Is there something missing? I just see a list of usernames?

Ok well we ‘know how Palestine feels’ because we were subject to an aerial bombing campaign that destroyed our cities and killed 40,000 people 🤷‍♀️ how does that sound?

Did this violence towards Jews happen in the UK or not? The rampant antisemitism in the UK has seen people murdered. I can't be arsed to Google both the stabbing and the synagogue attack but the synagogue attack where two people were killed was carried out by a British citizen in Britain because of antisemitism in Britain.

You think that but you don’t live here?
But you find it offensive when posters who don’t live in Ireland say stuff about Ireland you disagree with? Ok

Well - you’re wrong in your assumption. Look at the Green Party, the marches, the NHS doctors who posted antisemitic hate, the graffiti, the festivals . I’ve never seen anti Muslim stuff - only anti semitic . There are huge numbers of Muslims in the UK . In some places they are very much a majority and have political influence on councils etc . Our Mayor in London is Muslim ,
Jews , in contrast , are very much a minority community and they are under siege .

Stop being so disingenuous.

The predominant reaction in a Belfast newspaper to a report about antisemitism is laughing emojis.

This is replicated in almost every article I see in Irish or Northern Irish press about antisemitism or Jewish news.

You have a big problem over there.

That’s a complete misrepresentation of the situation but as you can’t be arsed there’s not much point in putting you straight.

Note to other posters - maybe if someone can’t be arsed to check the details you shouldn’t trust what they post .

Who played?

Ireland cricket team which represent players from northern Ireland and Ireland. I knew nothing about it, obviously the cricket supporters and Irish cricket body didn't see it as an issue that's for them to answer on. The Irish soccer fans are obviously a lot more vocal in their dissent but it wasn't successful in convincing the fai to pull out of the match so it was played with much criticism. England played Afghanistan last year I'm sure you're critical of that.
As have been mentioned before Ireland is a democracy, sporting bodies have autonomy about this kind of thing the government does not step in to force it, but citizens are free to protest.

Then you aren't looking. Like I said we get the news here too.

A still from a video showing a bare-chested man wearing dark trousers standing in the middle of a street. He is carrying a weapon in his hand. The still is blurry and the man's face has been delibrately blurred.

Yes. I don’t live in Scotland.
I am not denying hate against Muslims is real.
But the Jewish community is , per rata, receiving ten times as many attacks.

I could read it. Not sure why pp couldn’t.
Yes it doesn’t reflect well.
I think the bullies come out into the open when they think there’s an easy victim to attack.
I don’t think most Irish are like this.

Are you talking about Ireland or Northern Ireland? You seem to be confusing the two countries. Ireland as of now is still partitioned. Northern Ireland is governed under a very different jurisdiction. I am not aware of many Irish people in the Republic that read the Belfast telegraph, also laughing emojis on an online publication indicate nothing about who or from where the person came from.

You aren't denying that hate against Muslims isn't real, you just haven't seen it and keep swiftly trying to down play it by comparing it to stats on antisemitism. Right.

I always read it while I’m watching the cricket.
