Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

That’s what I find so concerning.
People who consider themselves particularly caring and inclusive often seem to have a sympathy bypass when it comes to Jews.

I couldn't give a damn whether a person is Jewish or any other religion. I judge people on their character. What I am really against is anyone who thinks it is okay to treat millions of people the way Israel has been treating the Palestinians for decades and I believe the vast majority of people who care about Palestinians are the same. I know antisemitism is on the rise but I have met hundreds of pro-Palestinians and not one blames Jews as a whole but according to Genocide apologists, anyone who expresses support for Palestinians is an antisemite.

Has it always been one-sided then? Israel as the sole aggressor?

Speaking of genocide apologists.

The funding picture is similar in UK & other countries.

And the ubiquitous, endless use of keffiyehs, marches and flags in a country so far away from the Middle East is bizarre. This has never happened with any other conflict. It’s like a social contagion .

Yes. I think it's an indicator of the rising power and influence of Islam in the UK and the West as a whole, especially Europe. A conflict that is 2,000 miles away from the UK has now become the cause du jour among everyone on the left of British politics, because the left idolise Islam.

They don't realise they're playing with fire. They think the only casualties are the Jewish community who feel more marginalised and afraid, which doesn't seem to concern them. But there will be a bigger price to pay as time goes on.

But are these the same people who will:

  1. buy tickets for a Macklemore concert without denouncing his dressing up a a caricature of a Jew
  2. Find Kneecap’s endorsement of Hezbollah etc amusing
  3. Ignore the fact that people tear down hostage posters
  4. Go on regular pro Palestine marches but never denounce Hamas publicly
  5. Change the subject when someone tries to talk about October7th/ antisemitic attacks / Jewish fears
  6. Organise marches on October 7th with no care for the hurt caused

If these “hundreds of Pro Palestinians” you know will do some or all the above then they are, without question, antisemitic .

Depends. If the Battle of Little Big Horn was an act or aggression, then no. If the Battle of Orakau was an act of aggression, then no. If the ANC were the aggressors, then no. However, if they weren't acts of aggression then yes, it has always been one sided.

The other thing that some antisemites do is make false analogies

Of course it is Islam. If you can't gaslight the world anymore to think Israel is simply defending itself, let's spend billions on a media campaign to vilify Muslims because Palestinians are predominantly Muslims. Of course those two Nuns murdered by snipers while going to the toilet weren't.

No - false analogies.
Not the same thing as whataboutisms.

Macklemore himself apologised for his antisemitic stunt of dressing up as a caricature of a Jew. It was horrendous and I think he is really embarrassed about it. Doesn't change the fact that Israel is the cruelest and most entitled 'liberal democracy' in the world at the moment. But hey, I've been called antisemitic because I strangely think Genocide is wrong.

How is it a false analogy?

OpheliaWasntMad · 21/10/2026 18:32

Examples of false analogies

  1. comparing the situation in Gaza to the genocide of the Holocaust
  2. comparing Hamas to the IDF
  3. comparing the battle of Little Big Horn to October 7th

Aah - Macklemore is really embarrassed. That’s ok then .
What about the other examples of things pro Palestinians do?

I didn't do any of those things. Not all Genocides are the same. Hamas doesn't have any where near the same weaponry as the IDF. I never compared Little Big Horn to October 7th. A closer analogy to that would be Nat Turner which I didn't mention.

Those were examples of false analogies.
BTW there are many differences between Hamas and the IDF . One of the most telling is the fact that the IDF is there to secure the safety of Israelis whereas Hamas doesn’t give a about the safety of Palestinians.

”Not all genocides are the same”
Cuvilians killed in Gaza as part of an ongoing conflict- 3.5%
Jewish people herded into and murdered in concentration camps Holocaust- between 60-70%

Well, as usual it all boils down to whether you think that Israelis are “white colonisers” or whether you acknowledge their historical connection to the land.

If it's the former, it's worth noting that this approach hasn't had particularly good outcomes for the Palestinians so far. Repeated intifadas and October 7th haven't improved their lives, they have only brought more trauma and tighter security measures.

Tell me again about the four Israelis soldiers who were half naked, holding up white flags and calling out in Hebrew who were gunned down by the IDF because they might have been Palestinian. Tell me again about the Hannibal protocol.

There is a horrible war going on. Terrible things happen in war.
But you simply cannot say that those actions equate to the absolutely egregious and inhumane decision by Hamas to cause a war that they KNEW would cause untold suffering for their own people. And to make no preparations for the war / no bomb shelters etc . Instead Hamas spent aid money meant for civilians on themselves or on weapons.
No - you can’t compare the IDF and Hamas. Don’t be ridiculous.

Why don’t you tell us about the Hannibal Directive, since you keep bringing it up?
How many deaths on October 7th were caused by it you reckon? Because according to official investigations it’s 14, out of 1200. And it would have been 0 had Hamas not attacked.
