Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

Question - do you ever take a day off?

Not sure if they’re starting to regret it or if they choose to double down. Calling Zionism racism is quite out there, and yet here we are.

In Germany, there is a similar situation with Die Linke (The Left) party in Berlin.
They leaned hard into the Gaza protests to win the local elections two weeks ago.

One of the guests at their victory party (alongside a local clan boss) was a well-known anti-Israel activist in Berlin and a representative of the United Palestinian National Committee (VPNK), an organisation German intelligence monitors as a networking platform for Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The Green party has completely abandoned its reason for existing, and now embraces every fashionable omnicause, from transgenderism to anti-Semitism. They no longer examine evidence, just look at everything through emotional, local-vote-grabbing views.

Yeah I think when even the Guardian is turning against Polanski he is in trouble.

The Green party has been necessary for the environment but that isn't what they are best known for anymore. They are 5th in the polls now, behind Labour, Reform, Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.

As of 01 October 2026, Greens are on 9.6% in the PollCheck 7-poll moving average, the fifth-largest party, behind Labour on 27.1%.

No passing bandwagon is left unjumped by the Greens.

There is no genocide. Saying it doesn’t make it true.

What do you mean by 'conflating anti-Zionism with Islamism'?
Do you think anti-Zionism is acceptable as long as it isn't linked to Islamism?
Because all Zionism is, is the belief in the right of self-determination for Jewish people in their ancestral homeland

Much of the public conviction that Israel is committing genocide reflects a single confusion.

UN commissions, special rapporteurs, and General Assembly resolutions have all used the language of genocide. Their institutional authority gives many people the impression that the legal question has already been decided. It has not. Under the Genocide Convention, only a competent court can make a binding legal determination of genocide. No court has found that Israel committed genocide. Everything else, however authoritative it may appear, is an allegation — not a legal determination.

The question of genocide in Gaza will be determined by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) based in the Hague.

A final verdict could take several years.

If it was that simple just to tell from looking at the devastation of Gaza whether genocide has been committed, it wouldn't be taking years to consider all the evidence for and against.

The wording of the anti Zionism policy is deeply troubling as I believe it is antisemitic rather than anti-Zionist. Around 10% of British Jews are anti Zionist so anti Zionism itself isn’t antisemitic.

The Green policy voted in has even caused concerns among anti Zionist Jews in the Green Party:

The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) referenced in the article you’ve linked is basically a club anyone can join for a yearly fee, no academic credentials necessary.
The “scholars” include students, activists and artists.
They’re not quite the authority their name might lead you to believe.

Maybe you would like to listen to Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos who thinks it is a genocide?

Lots of different people have lots of different opinions on Israel and Gaza.
Why is this person a particular authority?

Sure, I could do that. But what does it matter?
Plenty of people say it is a genocide, plenty of people say it’s not.
