Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

There is no global smear campaign against Muslims.

Your views are so extreme I can’t see the point of debating with you anymore. So I’ll leave it there.

You must be joking. Why is Tommy Robinson invited to Israel so regularly. He is currently in court. I bet I know who is paying his legal fees. He used to be known as Tommy two names but I think he is now called Tel Aviv Tommy.

It's a not a smear campaign but it is a terrifying rise in antisemitism by idiots conflating the actions of Israel with all Jews.

The smear campaign is responsible for the “terrifying rise in antisemitism”.

The extremists in the Green Party have definitely contributed. Their vote on Zionism is racism is an example.

I'm really sorry to tell you this but antisemitism was on the rise well before this Green party fiasco. You can keep looking for every reason under the sun while choosing to ignore the elephant in the room but it doesn't detract from the reality of the cause.

The rise in antisemitism comes from the far left and the Islamists. The Greens are part of this but there's plenty of antisemitism in other liberal left parties and in society generally.

5MinuteArgument · 19/10/2026 20:27

inamarina · 19/10/2026 15:13

Exactly. Their deputy leader posting ‘White supremacist European settler colonialism must end!’ and arguing that "indigenous people have the right to fight back’ in the wake of October 7th certainly didn’t help.

Yes, the Islamist deputy leader of the Greens is trying to frame Israel as the new Afrikaners, white supremacist European settler colonialists. So it's white bad guys oppressing black good guys, like critical race theory on steroids.

However, it's inaccurate and insulting to call Jewish Israelis 'white'. Jews are an ethnic and cultural group. It's deliberately trying to stir up hatred and to cast Israel like the white South African state which must be dismantled and destroyed.

I said the Greens have contributed to the antisemitism - the anti semitism is coming from a number of directions.
Anti semitism has existed for many centuries. In part ( and shamefully) Christianity was to blame . What , in your view , is the “elephant in the room”?

Of course it does. Regularly inviting Tommy to Israel was purely a magnanimous gesture by the Israeli government because his is such an affable personality.

What is the elephant in the room you referred to earlier?
Your answers are a bit cryptic and ambiguous.

I asked AI how many times TR has been to Israel and it said twice in 10 years.

How regularly are you saying he has been invited?

Do you think it helps the cause of Jewish people, who live miles away from Israel, and in many cases, care deeply for the plight of the Palestinians but have to listen to Netanyahu, and the rest of his government, constantly conflate criticism of their ethnosupremacist version of Zionism with antisemitism. For many of the Jewish community, it is deeply offensive and even worse, it makes them feel unsafe because the ignorant are believing it.

I don't actually follow the travels of an extreme racist that much but I do know Israel and their Zionist US backers are really grooming him to further their policy of encouraging Islamophobia. Minister Chikli praised Robinson as a “courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam” and a “true friend of Israel and the Jewish people,” with the Israeli government covering his travel and hotel expenses.

This is a very muddled and confusing response

You seem to be suggesting that Israel’s government is to blame for the increase in antisemitism?

Simple. Anyone who conflates anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism is either ignorant or has an agenda.

What I take from this is that you don't think Jewish people have an intrinsic right to have their own country.
Because if they do, then being a Zionist is a reasonable part of being Jewish and being against the existence of a Jewish state is being against a reasonable Jewish belief.

It's like saying it's OK to think Scottish nationalism is evil, but not Ok to think Scottish people are (insert stereotype here).

We know you don't think Israel should exist, but given that's a mainstream Jewish belief, and acceptable for most other ethnicities, why single out Jewish people?

"We know you don't think Israel should exist,"?? Show me a single quote where I have said that. I can show you a quote where I said I believe that a single state solution where everyone in the land are equal, the land should still be called Israel. But go for it. You make an assertion about me. Prove it.

This is entirely disingenuous as you know that a single state solution is not possible since October 7 - especially Hamas are still active and their founding aim is the destruction of Israel.

“Prove it “…..?

If you think it’s OK to be anti- Zionism then you don’t support Israel’s right to exist .

I'm being disingenuous?? I'm sorry but I think all the pro-Israelis who refuse to accept a single or even a two state solution, thereby keeping the Palestinians subjugated while denying them basic human rights, but at the same time pretending they have sympathy for innocent Palestinians are the truly disingenuous ones here. They are too reticent to publicly declare what they think is the solution as they know how it will look. As vile as Ben Gvir and Smotrich are, at least they are honest and don't prevaricate their intentions with weaselly words. The irony of all this is that pro-Palestinians are constantly falsely accused of denying Israel's right to exist but the reality is that it is pro-Israelis who deny the Palestinians right to exist.

Twiglets1 · 20/10/2026 07:23

I don't see any pro Israelis on this thread who refuse to accept a two state solution.

As far as I can see, there is only person here that is refusing to accept a two state solution because they prefer the sound of a one state solution. Despite that would mean the Jewish people losing the one country where they are in the majority and where they feel relatively safe.

Exactly. Why on earth would people who are pro-Israel support a one-State solution? That certainly wouldn’t be very pro-Israel.
As for a two-state solution, I’d say most people on here are in favour of it.

Every single one of the major right wing and centrist parties poised to form the next coalition government has stood on a platform explicitly denying a two state solution. To be honest Twiglets, you are the only person, who advocates for Israel, that I can remember stating that you are in favour of a two state solution and I believe you are genuine. The reality is though, it is now an impossibility as Israel has effectively annexed the West bank in all but name and there is no way to extract the three quarters of a million settlers from Palestinian land. Even the Arab led Joint List recently indicated they are ready to ditch the two state solution in favor of demanding a single state with equal civil rights as they know the two state is an impossibility.
