Have Hamas seen sense and realised there is little hope for their death cult? Is this is a significant moment towards peace?

That would be doxing, or self doxing in my case.

I have not checked MN rules on it, but speculating on location of posters is against the rules on other forums I have posted on. Unless it is volunteered.

Puts me in mind of this :

Mat 5:33-37 Again, you heard that it was said to the ancients: You will not swear falsely, but you will pay to the LORD your oaths; but I say to you not to swear at all; neither by Heaven, because it is the throne of God, nor by the earth, because it is His footstool, nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of [the] great King, nor may you swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black; but let your word be, Yes, Yes, No, No, and that which is more than these is of the evil [one]. LSV

I have my Bible software open anyway, because of another thread I am posting on.

Now, in my case my word is my word. I do not lie. I sometimes get facts wrong of course but hey. And I do find I have to state now and then that I can't open things because of my location. Because, in my view, it would be dishonest to "pretend" I have read something.

Also, as these threads are about Iran, that also has restricted internet, pre war. And I thought it would maybe be an interesting insight to see how such systems can limit information.

I do not lie. But if you think I am gonna yell my location, well, that would be a f**king stupid thing to do wouldn't it ? Because where I am, some of what I post might be considered a crime.

Now these Jihadists and Trump's "Art of the deal book". What does that post mean ? What is the implication you are making ?

Yeah that was tongue in cheek - maybe I should have done the laughing emoji to signify.

I believe they are not in the UK, just not that they didn't know what the word jihad means. They've managed to find a definition now where they are, couldn't have been that hard.

Why would someone Scottish choose to live in an authoritarian country. I wouldn't in a million years, but each to their own.

Twiglets1 · 05/08/2026 11:35

The word "jihad" crops up fairly often on this board - the Conflict in the Middle East - and I've never seen Red ask for a definition before. Which has led to the not unreasonable assumption by myself and others that he did know what the word meant before @GentleSheep used it.

Maybe he disagreed with the way it was used and this was a somewhat long winded way of bringing that to light. Or maybe he suddenly felt the need of a dictionary definition, who knows.

Yes I agree, the word 'jihad' is hardly shrounded in mystery. Perhaps it's work-related, why they live there.

They don't like us speculating so I won't.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't choose to work in an authoritarian country that blocked normal websites and where even posting on a site mainly aimed at Mums could be perceived to be criminal behaviour. That's me though.

Looks like this plan is going nowhere. From the Independent 15 minutes ago:

“Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed significant doubt over Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza, stating that Israel has not agreed to the proposed terms for disarming Hamas and will not withdraw from the Palestinian enclave until the group is completely disarmed.
This statement directly contradicts Trump's earlier announcement that Israel was 'very happy' with a deal he presented as a 'major milestone,' which he suggested would involve Hamas disarming and Israel withdrawing from Gaza in phases.
Netanyahu clarified that the draft peace proposal from the 'Board of Peace' was not Israel's and that they had submitted their comments, reiterating that Israeli forces would not retreat from their current lines in Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed.
Hamas, while rejecting the term 'disarmament,' has indicated a willingness to hand over its weapons for storage under a US-backed Palestinian administration, but only after Israel ceases operations and withdraws its forces in line with last year's ceasefire.
Other Israeli officials, including energy minister Eli Cohen and defence minister Israel Katz, have echoed Netanyahu's stance that Israeli troops will not move before Hamas disarms, with Netanyahu facing an election in October where he relies on right-wing support apprehensive about peace with Hamas. ”

Yes this seems to be one of Trump's embellishments/ lies. It's fair to say that Netanyahu was not "very happy" with the deal he presented.

I posted Netanyahu's response on social media yesterday when he said the Trump administration “sent us a draft. We did not agree. It is not our draft. We sent our comments.
“This is our position. We stand firm on our interests, I believe both wisely and resolutely.”

So explain it to me as if I was a 6 year old. What did your post mean ?

I did look it up, or try to, to confirm what the definition is. To try to understand what your post was saying. Because believe it or not, I am a good faith poster.

For example, Jihadist means something different in GB news comments than what it would in a theology discussion. And I don't know that much about Iranian Sharia law. Or any of the versions of Sharia that is used in the various Gulf States.

In a GB news comments post, such a comment could be taken to mean " All Muslims are dishonest", or variations of that, in a dog whistle sort of way.

In the same way the term " There is no love like Christian love" changes meaning depending on where and to who it is said.

Just trying to get a handle on where you are coming from in this thread. That is all.

GentleSheep · 05/08/2026 12:29

T'was a throw-away tongue-in-cheek remark. I guess doesn't come across well in text. Will remember to put an emoji next time.

Fair enough. I am sure you can see how it could be construed.

And no, I was not about to be insulted on behalf of Islam. No arms in the air as I yell " How dare you".

All as bad as each other is what I say.

No need for it to be removed. I don't think so anyway.

I mean if you feel it might present you as having some sort of anti-Islam position that you don't have, then cool.

And that is why I was seeking clarification, as you know, without me implicitly asking. There is certainly a thing of people of one religion deeply disliking those of another. I have certainly not seen that from your good self on MN. Other posters on MN in general (not these boards), I have seen. Looking at you -Reform threads :-)

Twiglets1 · 05/08/2026 14:30

I don't see the relevance of Reform threads to discussions on the CITME board. But I guess it's no surprise that some MN posters who would vote Reform are Islamophobic. It's also no surprise that some MN posters who would vote Green in it's current form are antisemitic.

Both parties are at the extreme ends of the political spectrum and I sincerely hope neither does well at the next General Election.

RedTagAlan · 05/08/2026 14:52

@GentleSheep

Thank you for requesting your potentially doxing post be removed. I did hover over the report button for that, but not over the "jihadist" post.

Thank you honestly. I hate using that report button. I have used it once, And that was a doxing post on another thread on another board. That poster also happens to be on this thread.

I reckon you made a real show of integrity there. But yeah, I know nowt I say means anything. Quite right too I say. It's just a public forum after all.

What doxing are you accusing me of Red? You may as well be open as we're not MI5 and it's obvious you're talking about me here as the only person you have apparently ever reported. Was it when I used a masculine pronoun to refer to you? You seemed to get upset about that despite you had openly said you were male on a different thread so I didn't think it was exactly sensitive information.

Glad you were able to figure out how to use the internet to search words up from whichever place you're from... Britannica eh? Jolly good!

I think we all knew what Gentle meant.

On the subject of internet censorship, I found a 100 percenter just now. I wanted to quickly check the spelling of "Bestiality" for another post. All innocent, a sort of part jesting post. My spelling is bad and wanted to super quick check.... and 100% blocked. See attached.

It's a reminder of sorts, that if you live in a country with open and free internet, statistically you are in the minority, world wise.

Hamas to disarm.....

You googled 'Bestiality' to prove a point?! Your algorithm is fucked Alan 🤣

Well don't laugh because this could apply to all of us in a few months' time with the stupid social media 'ban' incoming. When we'll all have to prove we're adults to read anything!

But having said that, Trump should be banned from social media! 😂

No. I happened to be looking it up to check the spelling. And as it was a 100 percenter, and with the conversation here, I made the above post.

Wait a mo. When I say that words and phrases are banned where I am, you say I am lying. But you also want the internet where you are to be more heavily controlled?
