That does appear to be more of a Saudi /Houthi thing though. Link is blocked for me though. They did have a long war, and it's not really settled. And what with SA bombing a Yemen airport last week.

Possibly, however you have to look it as the Houthis being Iranian allies and one of the pieces on the chessboard of applying pressure on oil prices.

I have cut and paste the article below :-)

"Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said on Monday they were imposing a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, a move that opens a new front against the United States in its war on Iran and widens the threat to global energy supplies and trade beyond the Gulf.

Iran had pressed the Houthis to close the Bab el-Mandeb gateway to the Red Sea if the U.S. continued to attack Iranian power infrastructure.

In their statement, the Houthis’ armed forces said they were declaring “a maritime embargo against the criminal Saudi enemy, based on the equation of ‘an eye for an eye’, effective immediately...”

They said the decision was in response to what they called “an unjust and oppressive siege” imposed on Yemen by the Saudis.

There was no immediate response from Saudi Arabia.

The full closure of the Bab el-Mandeb strait would reduce global oil supply by 7% as it would leave most of Saudi oil exports unable to leave the region. The disruption would add to the massive cut to global oil flows from the war in the Gulf, which has already reduced shipments by 10% of global supply.

The Houthis’ announcement followed signs from both Iran and the U.S. that they wanted to resume diplomatic efforts to end an escalating cycle of attacks that has all but wrecked a fragile interim agreement signed last month.

A senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday that Tehran had received a proposal from mediators for a 10-day ceasefire in an effort to salvage the interim deal, intended to pave the way to a lasting agreement to the war that began on February 28 with U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.
Oil prices briefly jumped above $90 a barrel earlier on Monday after renewed disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. They later pared gains after Iran’s Foreign Ministry said mediators had recently presented proposals to Tehran, signaling that diplomatic contacts remain active.
Neither the ministry nor the official who spoke to Reuters gave any further details on the putative ceasefire discussions.
Separately, two Pakistani government sources said Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, making his second visit to Islamabad in less than a week, had asked Pakistan to resume its mediation role in Iran’s conflict with the United States.
The diplomatic flurry came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they had struck U.S. military assets across the region following another night of U.S. bombardment of Iranian cities"

Also notable is that Greek-owned ship the KAVOMALEAS carrying Saudi Oil caught fire after trying to use the Omani corridor.

@rainingsnoring How did I misquote you?

You said "You then get very upset when people challenge you and get their posts deleted"

You later said "I didn't say that you get upset when people challenge you"

But you did say that.

Trump says US will hit reported uranium stockpile site 'pretty soon'

"Nuclear Dust", to use it's proper technical term as invented by POTUS.

I wonder why he does that?. He could call it enriched uranium. Or U-235. Because if it is for bomb making, that's what it is. But "Nuclear Dust" could be anything radioactive really. Technically, "Nuclear Dust" could be anything that has radioactive decay. And that is pretty much every element.

Apart from gold. That is so stable it has a half life of over 50 billion years.

I was posting something on another thread and I looked up a story I remember. And as I have the story open, I thought I should post it here too. Because it is relevant. From May 2018.

And now in 2026, the US is at war with Iran.

On Trump derangement Syndrome.

Many of us who post on here will know Hegseth was at a Senate hearing, and that he wants $1.5 trillion for his defense budget, and that he says the current Iran war has cost $37.5 billion. And in a spat with Dem Senator Gary Peters, Hegseth said that Peters had Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It is Trumpers go to. It is becoming an auto response. " You have Trump Derangement Syndrome" is what they say when their dear leader or his "regime" is attacked. We see it on these threads too.

I looked for a news article on the spat to get the exact words used, but limited web and all that, I could really only get this. A far right Trumpster news and views site. A site with a very strong Conservative Christian bias.

New: Pete Hegseth Cooks Dems and Their 'Hypocrisy' in Fiery Senate Hearing Testimony – RedState

And see how it is reported :

"You want to stand up here and talk about the troops? You won't show ANY political courage to actually fund our department because you have TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME and can't…

That is Hegseth "Scorching" Senator Peters, as tweeted by a pro Trump commentator. Fuller version of what Hegseth said is here :

"Why don't you show some leadership and stand up for your fellow Democrats who won't fund the troops, who stand and play partisan politics while you don't give us the money?
"You want to stand up here and talk about the troops? You won't show any political courage to actually fund our department because you have Trump Derangement Syndrome and can't actually commit to anything meaningful."

I actually went search for a fuller transcript of what Peters had said, And all I can see in this article, an article where many Trumpsters get their news, is this :

"Some of the Democrats tried to get in their performative video clip moments by going after Hegseth. One of the most fiery was Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), and it did not go well for him. He just began screaming about "leadership," and Hegseth didn't hold back in reply. "

So it seems that many Trumpsters will never know what Sen Peters said. Just that Hegseth "scorched" him with "TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME"

That is what many of Trump's base read. That is the level of debate they are apparently being told is "good debate". This is the debate being held at the top of US politics.

And hey, if my musings in this post are seen as disparaging, and that makes me an "elite looking down their nose", then fucking hey ho.

People are dying in this war. And that is the best The Secretary of War can come up with ?

If you ask AI to search the CITME board, for TDS, it should be relatively easy to find all the posters who have accused others of having TDS. Perhaps one of them might be able to provide an explanation exactly what the condition entails.

To me, it's a unique syndrome that is slapped onto anyone who criticises Trump, particularly when the accuser has no comeback to the argument.

Jeremy Bowen’s take on the matter, although I know the Pro Israelis like to hate on him despite his many years of Middle East warfare experience:

“On Radio 4’s Today programme, Bowen said there were now no good outcomes for Trump, despite his repeated claims to have already won the war.
And he even raised the spectre of the Iraq war in the early 2000s, which led to the deaths of more than 4,000 US troops and is seen as President George W Bush’s greatest foreign policy disaster.
He said: “Trump now has a succession of bad options caused by his reckless decision to go to war.
“He can escalate, that won’t bring victory and could bring a lot of disruption and trouble.
“If there is a return to negotiations, which you could argue is the only sensible thing, that would require concessions to Iran which would show the costs of America’s strategic defeat, which has been caused by his reckless decision to go to war.
“All military experts would say the only way to really secure and open the Strait of Hormuz by force is a major land operation which will be immensely risky, would require probably hundreds of thousands of troops, wouldn’t happen.
“Don’t forget Iran is four times the size of Iraq and remember how well the invasion of Iraq went, when ”

Trump agrees nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia allowing uranium enrichment

Donald Trump has agreed to a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia that could allow the kingdom to enrich its own uranium.

The 30-year agreement, expected to be announced on Wednesday, may pave the way for the kingdom to develop nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian programme, Israeli officials fear.

It would allow US companies to build an enrichment facility in Saudi Arabia if a joint study approves the programme.

The deal further binds the US with the kingdom, and would establish the second Middle East country to openly enrich uranium after Iran.

Mr Trump is set to submit to congress a document known as a 123 agreement, a non-proliferation tool required for all peaceful nuclear co-operation between nations, including technology transfers.

That document was signed by Chris Wright, the US energy secretary, who discussed the agreement with Abdulaziz bin Salman, his Saudi counterpart, during a visit to Saudi Arabia in April 2025. The Saudi minister is also set to approve the deal.

Trump administration officials believe the pact, which would bring in tens of billions of dollars for US firms, would prevent Riyadh from abusing its civilian programme for military purposes.

However, US politicians on both sides and Israeli officials have objected to the plans, fearing the kingdom could develop nuclear weapons, the New York Times reported.

@rainingsnoring I'm still impressed by Joe Kent, he is extremely intelligent and well spoken. Watching his interviews are very interesting, it's clear that he attended the persuasion classes when he worked at the CIA and he is an expert in nudge theory, https://www.imperial.ac.uk/nudgeomics/about/what-is-nudge-theory/. I wasn't joking when I called him the Pied Piper, it's clear that he is on some sort of mission to become the acceptable face of non-interventionism.

Not clutching at straws. I do think that Joe Kent is trying to communicate with Trump taking into account all of Donald's personality traits. Kent never criticises Trump, always calls him President, praises Trump's strength, lists the mistakes that other President's made (like Carter and the hostage crises) and act's like he is trying to protect Trump. He using the type of language that can be heard in the White House and also within the ordinary rank and file military. Robert Barnes has said so.

Here are 2 posts from people who know Joe Kent:

"Joe Kent is my ex-husband’s best friend. He was in my wedding. If you had asked me 10 years ago I would’ve called him my friend too. But anyone who’s ever been divorced knows exactly how that works. When couples split up and the friends get divided there’s the little f and the big F and of course I was the little f with Joe. No hard feelings, that’s just the way it is.

Joe Kent is a good man. A quintessential American man. He loves our country. And he loves our people; he served both of them with pride.

For years anti-Americanism has been the litmus for authenticity in the struggle against Israel. I truly believe this was by design. Americans who loved their country but were appalled by our support for Israel’s apartheid state were routinely rebuffed or rebuked by the radical ideology that greeted them anytime they ventured into anti-Israel spaces.

The choices for moderate to conservative normies were:

1. Ignore the Israel thing
2. Embrace the far-Left
3. Embrace the far-Right

Most people simply opted for #1.

But in the post-Oct 7 world something cracked and a middle road between 2 & 3 opened up. Over time it has drawn many new people to the cause.

I’m sympathetic to the plight of both the people who have been fighting the good fight against Israel for decades and the ones who are just waking up to the problem. It’s probably bc in my own personal life I know both. And in a way I am both. Prior to Oct 7th I wasn’t honest with myself about the brutality of the Zionist regime and the role America has played in enabling it.

It’s a hard, bitter pill to swallow. It has left me depressed, ashamed and hopeless at times. It’s something we all must grapple with eventually. But I don’t expect anyone to do it at first.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is I completely agree with SG, we all need to grant more grace. We must stand firmly against the unjust and never be afraid to speak against bad ideas and principles but we should be gracious too"

And

" [Joe Kent] is taking a lot of flack for these posts and on the surface it may feel disappointing to read some of it. But we must appreciate the journey Joe has been on over the course of the last few years. Most of us do not (or no longer) have feet or toes in the military community. Joe still does. The military community thinks differently. They were trained to do so and they cannot be expected to completely jettison that DNA they have absorbed. I have good friends in or from that community and I understand it. Rather than bust his chops or call him a fraud, perhaps the best approach is to consider him an ally who is not quite where many of us are but is coming in our direction. That is what Ron Paul would do. Such was the case with MTG just a couple of years ago. If we turn on Joe and call him a fraud because he does not mouth the exact slogans we wish, we are going to alienate a valuable and powerful ally. Also, remember that Joe is speaking to our nation's military in a language they understand. It is the voice of someone who has walked the walk and as such has incredible potential to enlighten and convert many of them into thinking differently about what "America first" really means. To help them understand what I consider actual patriotism. Listen - I've spent a bit of time with Joe this spring and he is a sincere and wonderful person. His respect for Ron Paul runs deep. Let's not kick him in the balls because he is not saying exactly what some of us want him to say. Instead, let's remember we are a broad coalition trying in our own individual ways to move our country in the right direction and change its destructive course. Joe has already identified most of the problems. Read his writings and listen to his interviews. Let's not go sectarian on him. He is our friend."

I trying to have the capacity to give him grace and allow space for growth. He hasn't run away, or begged for forgiveness, cried like he's a victim and I realise that not everyone can "get it". It's also important that he communicates to the rank and file, it's change there that will be part of the solution.

Edited

That's really interesting, thanks. As you say, he is a very smart and experienced guy who has a very good understanding of the situation 'on the inside'. He is careful not to be overly critical of his ex colleagues so he is probably trying to stay on side to a degree. I'm sure he understands that things are far more nuanced but perhaps he is trying to keep the message simple so that people understand, as is MTG. I hope he can have some positive influence.
