My final comment on disclaimer gate.

The pattern, from my experience of posting on several threads, is that certain posters have a binary way of thinking and a tendency to accuse others of supporting the IRGC or anti Israeli groups when you express an opinion that differs from theirs.

I understood why the first disclaimer was made, as threads on the ME tend to be populated by the same usernames, who were then all at risk of the same accusation. The disclaimer was an attempt to avoid any such accusations in the first place.

TBH, there is little merit in responding to posts with just a link or 'goggle it', as such posts do not constitute good faith debate imho.

As said to my DC, you've got to put the effort in!

‘Historic day’ as US-Iran talks held in ‘positive atmosphere’

It is a historic day. This is the first time we’re seeing the highest level of contact between the US and Iran after Iran’s 1979 revolution.

We believe that the talks lasted for just under two hours. According to sources, they took place in a positive atmosphere.

There are a number of issues that have been discussed, including some of the sticking points we all know about. But we believe there has been some headway in terms of what is happening in Lebanon. Some sources suggest [Israel’s] operations are now going to be limited to the south and there will be no further strikes in Beirut. This is very early hours and we’re still waiting for confirmation. According to Iranian sources, there has also been some movement towards [Iranian] assets being unfrozen.

What we know is that it’s all happening behind closed doors. Drip-drip information is coming out, but it’s very difficult to verify and we’ll have to wait and see what happens. The two parties are going to meet again over dinner.’

Israel will not stop attacking Hezbollah before their own peace talks begin on Tuesday I don't think.

However, I do think Israel will agree to a ceasefire as part of their own peace deal (with a sharp nudge from Trump in all likelihood).

I won’t derail but have to defend my fellow Dubs, I don’t know anyone sane who supports Trump/Israel. My insane BIL supports Trump but we all dislike him and try keep him indoors or at a distance.
The protest is staying peaceful. It’s lovely to see communities bringing in soup and sandwiches to the truckers, farmers and bikers. So far, so good. Let the peaceful protest continue.
