Conflict in the Middle East

Trump is desperate. How can he resolve the Iran shitshow?

1000 replies

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/04/2026 00:32

He is flailing, desperate and increasingly unhinged. Weakening the USA, alienating allies and strengthening the enemies of democracy with every step.

How can he fix this?
Can he fix it at all?

I can understand why Israel would feel the need to carry on trying to destroy Hezbollah. They started attacking Israel on October 8th 2023, the day after the October 7th Hamas massacre and kidnappings.

Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt has confirmed that Lebanon was not part of the ceasefire deal.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0j6d538l6qo

Well she would wouldn’t she 🤨

Nevertheless
she wasn't involved in the deal and wasn't there

Pakistan was

IDontHateRainbows · 08/04/2026 19:23

Can anyone explain in simple terms why Trump is sucking Netanyahu's d*?

Stirabout · 08/04/2026 19:23

Boolabus · 08/04/2026 19:09

Yes Israel and the US are two separate countries who have been working together in this illegal war. There has been a serious mess up in communications between both nations if one believes they agreed to something and the other says they didn't. The result no ceasefire and no opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Both looking pretty incompetent at the moment.

Exactly

Trump was there and Katherine Leavitt speaks for Trump.

She is his press secretary.

So Pakistan are lying?
Edited to add they can't all be right so someone has got it wrong or someone is lying

Boolabus · 08/04/2026 19:27

DuncinToffee · 08/04/2026 19:17

Do you think they are destroying Hezbollah? And is that worth the civilian deaths and destruction?

Not to mention the ever expanding buffer zone annexing Lebanese land.

Stirabout · 08/04/2026 19:29

Twiglets1 · 08/04/2026 19:21

Israel are doing their best and hit more than 100 of what it called Hezbollah command centres and military sites today in 10 minutes.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0j6d538l6qo

‘100 of whst it called’

is significant

more and more civilian areas and more and more civilians being killed by Israel

I just don’t see how anyone can defend Israel at the moment

Twiglets1 · 08/04/2026 19:31

@Boolabus Maybe they are or maybe there was confusion as it was all happening so quickly.

Trump may have got it wrong, that is possible too?

Israel have been clear that they never agreed to stop attacking Lebanon during the 2 week ceasefire.

I'm sorry but that really is laughable Twiglets

It’s all about the land grab by Israel. Same with Gaza
that and killing anyone in their way
A Christian town yesterday with no Hezbollah link

Well it's a monumental f**k up and once again civilians pay the price. It is an illegal war no one should be bombing anyone and trying to rationalise and defend why they are is getting more and more difficult to stomach

But you either defer the decision to someone else or you don’t

If Israel had caveats they should have stayed at the table

I'm not exactly defending Israel attacking Hezbollah.

Though they have a long and bloody history of attacking each other and Hezbollah have often been the aggressor, such as on the day after the Hamas attack.

Mainly I'm trying to be factual. I hope Israel can be persuaded to stop attacking Hezbollah for the sake of the ceasefire, but I don't think they agreed to do so before the ceasefire terms were agreed.

DuncinToffee · 08/04/2026 20:09

Netanyahu: “The enriched uranium will come out of Iran either by agreement or by the resumption of fighting.”

They should stop bombing Lebanon and its people.

Appreciate the updates
but your wording indicates acceptance and agreement in Israel bombing civilian areas.
Just like they did in Gaza

As has been said
If you defer a decision to another you have to abide by their decision
If you don’t agree to something you need to have the conviction to stand by that.
Israel clearly were trying to not be the baddies and not be seen to not negotiate.
Well that didn’t work
They are now the baddies in ignoring the terms of the ceasefire
which I think is exactly what they want.
Again!

They are attacking Hezbollah but yes Lebanese people are getting hurt or killed in the attacks too.

Would not agree Israel are "the baddies" in ignoring the terms of a ceasefire that they never agreed to, according to both them and the US.

Do you know how many German civilians were killed in ww2? Hundreds of thousands.

Civilians are unfortunately killed in conflicts. It is sad, tragic, upsetting and if you cannot cope with the reality of that then avoid the news.

Stirabout · 08/04/2026 21:31

KatiePricesKnickers · 08/04/2026 21:23

And your peaceful solution to the Hezbollah problem would be?

Not killing civilians
Not bombing a Christian town with no links to Hezbollah
Not dropping hundreds of bombs without any warning … a today Israeli tactic

Recognising Palestine
Stopping the control of the area
Getting out of Lebanon
Israel signs the treaty of non proliferation
For starters

@Ellen2shoes posted a great solution
upthread

Definately worth a read

Don't watch the news and whatabout WWII ?

You seem absolutely fine with Israel killing innocent men, women and children.
