I don't think we need to find a 'new cause'. This hopefully stops the genocide from continuing, but this 'cause' as you call it existed before the latest war, and it will exist after, but with much more public attention.

The Palestinians need a safe independent state, where they are free from Israeli control, aggression an invasion. There also needs to be justice for those behind the genocide and for those found to have committed war crimes.

...including those who have kidnapped and held hostages.
What an absolute horror. I hope that peace can hold and rebuilding begin. 🙏

I hope it’s not too soon to be heartened by this news.

Did Trump just bless himself, though, using the words of Jesus? His delusional manner is very concerning, so much so that I worry about the truth of his truth about a peace deal.

But a glimmer of hope is welcome.

No, I think he meant all the people of the countries that mediated and have contributed to this amazing breakthrough. People will always see the worst in Trump whatever he does but that's by the by. The main thing surely is that the horrendous suffering of the people of Palestine and the Israeli hostages comes to an end at last.

Yes, I would agree with this. I'm no fan of Trump, but at least he was able to lean into Netanyahu in a way that Biden was unable to.

🙏🙏🙏🙏 if Trump pulls this off I'll gladly swallow every awful thing I've ever said about him.

And by pulls this off, I mean a permanent solution not just a sticking plaster for the next few years.

The hostages will be released on Sunday/Monday is that correct?

Yes, I think so, that includes those who are dead.

Absolutely if any of those responsible are still alive.

But I believe in equality for all people, so priority should be given to justice for millions than justice for a couple of hundred.

SomeoneSomewheree · 09/10/2025 10:08

I do think this time it really does mean an end to the war. I hope i am proven right and I am not just overly optimistic.

I believe in justice for all, so I'll leave it at that.
Here's hoping for a lasting peace.

Well, the ceasefire started 10 minutes ago, but already things are in place to secure and continue this. I hope you're proven right, too.

dairydebris · 09/10/2025 10:10

No I absolutely will not.

It's terrifying that people like you seem to think that as long as the hostages are back, it's all over. As if the genocide doesn't matter anymore. As if the self-determination and dignity the Palestinian people in the future doesn't matter anymore.

I'm delighted that the hostages are coming home. I'm more delighted that this means hopefully Israel what will stop its campaign of genocide. I'm cautious because Israel has a history of breaking ceasefires, but hopefully this one will last.

inamo · 09/10/2025 10:15

Fingers well and truly crossed now. Hard for me to give any credit to the Marmalade Moron but needs must and actions speak louder than words.

Maybe some day soon we will be holidaying in Gaza on Sea. Foreign investment needed there soon though. Maybe Qatar will help out.

Yes that’s the plan

Everexpanding · 09/10/2025 10:22

❤️fingers crossed actual peace will last and no more innocent civilians are killed. I hope there is justice

SpaceRaccoon · 09/10/2025 10:25

I hope there is justice

What does that look like to you?

dairydebris · 09/10/2025 10:27

Here's a little bit of feedback for you-

Assuming you know what I think is silly.

Posting about how justice for Palestinians is more important than justice for Israelis is also silly.

Everyone else was able to just say they hope for peace- without dividing the 2 groups into different levels of deserving.

Give it a fucking rest.

Everexpanding · 09/10/2025 10:29

SpaceRaccoon · 09/10/2025 10:25

What does that look like to you?

Peace first embedded and settled but then proper investigation and prosecution of war crimes on both sides

PropertyD · 09/10/2025 10:32

I hope now the totally obsessed people marching through London and other areas now stop. The terrorist attack got obsessed with the war and look what happened.

What about all of the other causes? Girls being denied an education in Afganstein at secondary school age, being married off to much older men at a very young age and having babies very very young.

99% of Somilian girls are undergoing FGM. 99% IS a shocking figure.

No-one's making a peace deal if they're going get prosecuted after. That sounds like a quick way to scupper it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/10/2025 10:33

Oh I hope this is over.

My thoughts are with all those holding their breath in Israel and Gaza.🙏❤️

But you weren't happy to just say you were glad there was peace.

You went a step further and basically said people need to shut up above the Palestinian cause now. You raised that.

For now, let's take this peace process a few days at a time. But when the literal dust settles Gaza and the West Bank need a better future. Things can't go back to how they were before, and that's not just in terms of getting rid of hamas, but also giving people hope of self-determination, freedom from oppression and for justice for the crime done.

Yeah those pesky protestors “”obsessed” with opposing the killing of civilians, 🙄

yes more needs to be done for the women of Afghanistan and Somalia look forward to seeing your proposed actions

Really good to hear. Lovely to hear dancing in the streets on both sides. Well done to Trump and everyone I hope it sticks.

Well, I have just seen a video of Gazans happily singing Khaybar, Khaybar, ya Yehud, which is basically their way of saying it’s not over.

They all look very healthy and well fed when you’d expect the men to make sure the women and children are fed first in a ‘famine’.

I have noticed a lot of hysterical and angry posts this morning on X, full of Israel hatred. The pro-Pals Jew haters are really pissed that this war is coming to an end,

New allegations now that the IDF has been gang raping Palestinian women and videoing it and people actually believe it!

Gazans are responding to the news by chanting “Khaybar, Khaybar ya yahud”. The ancient call to murder Jews. Oh dear.
