Trump's new Gaza Plan

Return of the hostages and an Islamic Arab government: Inside Trump's new Gaza plan:

The Trump administration has reportedly put forward a peace plan which would eventually lead to a complete end to the war in Gaza, a Western source told the Lebanese media site Elnashra on Wednesday, only a day after US President Donald Trump met with the leaders of Muslim countries.

The plan reportedly includes a 20-day ceasefire followed by the return of the hostages. It is unclear in the report, however, how many of the 48 hostages would be returned at this stage of the deal.

Following the return of the abductees, an Arab administration made up of Islamic nations would take over the administration of the Palestinian enclave, according to Elnashra. During this time, a Palestinian government would reportedly be built without the infiltration of Hamas.

Other sources told the Lebanese paper that the Muslim leaders attending the meeting with Trump were supportive of the American president's proposal. Still, they were reportedly awaiting a response from Hamas and Israel to see if the proposal could be fruitful.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and included leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

The Telegraph have also commented on the new peace plan:

Hamas officials will be granted amnesty and immunity with the option of leaving Gaza through a safe passage under President Trump’s new 21-point plan for ending the war in the enclave.

Mr Trump’s plan, which has been leaked to media across the Arab world, stipulates that Hamas members who commit to “peaceful coexistence will be granted amnesty while members who wish to leave the Strip will be granted safe passage to receiving countries.”

This will only happen once the 48 hostages have been released within 48 hours of Israel publicly accepting the deal.

In return, Israel will free several hundred Palestinian security prisoners serving life sentences and over 1,000 Gazans arrested since the start of the war, along with the bodies of several hundred Palestinians, according to the Times of Israel’s readout of the plan.

The plan also states that Israel agrees not to carry out future strikes in Qatar, as the US and the international community acknowledge Doha’s “important mediating role in the Gaza conflict”.

Since Hamas’s leadership is currently residing in Qatar this means Mr Trump’s plan provides de facto immunity for the officials whom Israel attempted to assassinate in an airstrike in Doha earlier this month.

Should Israel agree to the 21-point plan it would directly contradict the Prime Minister’s vow to hunt down Hamas leaders wherever they reside.

US President Donald Trump tells the Axios news site that talks over Washington’s plan to end the war in Gaza are “at their final stages,” expressing hope that an agreement could be announced within the next two days, following his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House tomorrow.

“Everybody has come together to get a deal, but we still have to get it done,” Trump tells Axios reporter Barak Ravid in a phone interview, adding: “The Arab countries were fantastic to work with on this, and Hamas is coming with them. [Hamas has] great respect for the Arab world.”

“The Arab world wants peace, Israel wants peace and Bibi wants peace,” Trump says, using Netanyahu’s nickname.

Trump adds that his plan aims not only to end the Gaza war but also to open the door to wider regional peace.

“If we get this done, it will be a great day for Israel and for the Middle East,” he says. “It will be the first chance for real peace in the Middle East. But we have to get it done first.”

Speaking on Israel’s Channel 12, Ravid adds that Trump hopes to finalize an agreement during Monday’s meeting and announce it the same day or the next.

I think it is an incredible step forward that the US have created this and got agreement from others. Not sure about the Tony Blair leading suggestion. But, to a lay person (like me) it seems a like a decent plan. I hope it is real and genuine, it’s a change of course for the US for sure.

I thought this guardian opinion piece was interesting laying out how this plan is both similar but different to the New York Declaration.

Qatar tells US it is able to convince Hamas to disarm, accept Trump plan

Qatar informed the US administration that it would be able to persuade Hamas to disarm and accept the Trump-backed deal, Sky News Arabia reported on Monday.

Qatari officials reportedly told President Trump and the Arab states that it was "capable of persuading Hamas to agree to a deal that includes demilitarization," a source familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post.

Qatar welcomes Netanyahu apology and promise not to repeat Doha strike

We're still waiting for the news conference in Washington, but ahead of that, here's some breaking news.

Qatar has welcomed Benjamin Netanyahu's promise not to repeat his attack on Doha, the White House says.

We brought you news earlier that the Israeli leader had called Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani from the White House.

Our US correspondent Mark Stone says Netanyahu apologised after Israel bombed Qatar earlier this month.

In a readout, the White House confirmed the trilateral call took place and said the leaders had accepted a "trilateral mechanism" to improve relations.

It also said Netanyahu "expressed regret that, in targeting Hamas leadership during hostage negotiations, Israel violated Qatari sovereignty and affirmed that Israel will not conduct such an attack again in the future."

The White House added:
"Prime Minister Al Thani welcomed these assurances, emphasising Qatar’s readiness to continue contributing meaningfully to regional security and stability. Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed commitment to the same. "

White House releases Trump's peace plan ahead of news conference
Breaking news:

In a document released by the White House, President Trump has shared his 'Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict'.

The plan outlines 20 main points and begins with Gaza becoming a 'deradicalized terror-free zone' that does not pose a threat to its neighbours.

"Today is a historic day for peace", says Trump.

He says he and the Israeli PM just concluded a meeting – most importantly they spoke about ending the war in Gaza.

Trump says they are formally releasing the 21 principle peace plan, “which people have really liked I must say”.

There has been input to the plan from many nations, Trump says.

Trump thanks the "leaders of the Arab and Muslim nations for their support" in developing the proposal along with many allies in Europe.

Trump thanks Netanyahu for "agreeing to the plan".

He adds that he has had meetings with "so many countries" to discuss the proposal, including leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE. He says they have been "very much involved".

As part of the plan, Trump says Hamas tunnels and production facilities would be destroyed.

It would also involve training local police forces, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would withdraw from Gaza in phases.

The threat of Hamas will be "destroyed," he says and Netanyahu would have Trump's full backing to "do what he has to do".

Trump says he has not dealt with Hamas, but the Arab and Muslim countries "will be dealing with Hamas".

“They have to deal with them,” he says. "I think they probably have an understanding.”

He says that if they are unable to do so [deal with Hamas], Israel would have full US backing, he says, “to finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas.”

Hamas is the only party left to agree to the deal, Trump says.

Lolapusht · 29/09/2025 19:48

I have got everything crossed and am currently enduring Trump’s inane ramblings to hear what happens.

Netanyahu’s apology to Qatar was a big move.

I saw Qatari representatives are on their way to DC to finalise the deal. Hamas has got to accept this deal. Trump just gave Israel a green light to annihilate them if they don’t. There’s too much of what Hamas claims they want for them but to agree. Let’s see how much control Qatar has (which will also show they could have ended this and released the hostages months ago).

Twiglets1 · 29/09/2025 19:53

We're now hearing about how Trump sees this plan being implemented.

He says a "board of peace" will oversee the plan. That board will be headed by Trump, he says.

Leaders from other countries will also be on the board.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair wants to be on the board, Trump says, without naming any other members.

OP posts:

While Trump was quick to list his allies in the region, there are still many details that need to be ironed out before the steps he's describing - such as the demilitarisation of Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli forces - can take place.

"We're right there," Trump said, although he acknowledged that Hamas has yet to answer.

Part of the White House's plan seems to be to make it very clear to Hamas that the US will wash its hands of Israeli military escalation should they refuse.

OP posts:
Twiglets1 · 29/09/2025 19:57

Trump says the US wants to get along with Iran.

He praises the Abraham Accords and says “and who knows maybe even Iran can get in there.”

"I think they are going to be open to it," Trump says.

"At some point, Iran will be a member of the accords," he says, adding that it would be a "great thing for them economically.”

Trump trying to be fair to Palestinians is like Bernard Matthews trying to be fair to turkeys.

I mean, he doesn't like failure, so he'll be overrated in making sure this 'works' but they've also basically given Gaza to someone who suggested ethnic cleansing as a solution so it could be redeveloped as a resort for the wealthy. And remember the statue.

This can't possibly work, aside from lining trump's wallet and further enraging. Remember how interested his son was in the redevelopment...

This peace plan was far from perfect but it might just have worked if someone sane and less partisan was heading it up. But Trump... I'm speechless frankly.

Twiglets1 · 29/09/2025 20:09

Netenyahu says all hostages - living and dead - should be returned within 72 hours.

He says all parties are being given the chance to do this peacefully, but if Hamas rejects the plan, or they supposedly accept it then don't follow through, "we will finish the job", he says.

"This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done," he said.

OP posts:
Twiglets1 · 29/09/2025 20:11

Netanayhu says they didn't fight this "horrible" fight for Hamas to stay in Gaza.

He goes on to say the Palestinian Authority can have no role in Gaza without undergoing a "radical and genuine overhaul".

He adds this peace plan can be "a new beginning" for Gaza and the entire Middle East region.

He says the Abraham Accords could be "re-energise" and be expanded to other Arab and Muslim nations.
