Trump's new Gaza Plan

Return of the hostages and an Islamic Arab government: Inside Trump's new Gaza plan:

The Trump administration has reportedly put forward a peace plan which would eventually lead to a complete end to the war in Gaza, a Western source told the Lebanese media site Elnashra on Wednesday, only a day after US President Donald Trump met with the leaders of Muslim countries.

The plan reportedly includes a 20-day ceasefire followed by the return of the hostages. It is unclear in the report, however, how many of the 48 hostages would be returned at this stage of the deal.

Following the return of the abductees, an Arab administration made up of Islamic nations would take over the administration of the Palestinian enclave, according to Elnashra. During this time, a Palestinian government would reportedly be built without the infiltration of Hamas.

Other sources told the Lebanese paper that the Muslim leaders attending the meeting with Trump were supportive of the American president's proposal. Still, they were reportedly awaiting a response from Hamas and Israel to see if the proposal could be fruitful.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and included leaders from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

I think this is the plan Tony Blair has been working on for a while.

Yes very likely.

It sounds like it went well with Erdogan saying he was “pleased” with the outcomes of the meeting with Trump and describing it as “very fruitful.”

Has he not lied enough that anyone believes anything that idiot days?
he flips flops on everything

BeHappySloth · 24/09/2025 17:37

I hope for the sake of all concerned that they are able to reach some sort of agreement.

Tony Blair was a pretty good liar too with his weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Not sure he’s that trustworthy either.

What exactly are people 'lying' about here? Trump has the leverage, Blair has intelligence & connections. What do we achieve by sniping from the sidelines? I would be very happy to see progress in this conflict so I'll reserve judgement till we see how it is developing.

"sources told the Lebanese paper that the Muslim leaders attending the meeting with Trump were supportive of the American president's proposal. Still, they were reportedly awaiting a response from Hamas and Israel to see if the proposal could be fruitful."

Other Arab leaders guiding Palestine rather than leaving it under Hamas terrorists has to be good for everyone. What's not to like?

The people need to be freed from their terrorist rulers. Then, they actually have a chance for the future and to gradually deradicalise with no more UNRA schools teaching hate.

Twiglets1 · 24/09/2025 18:34

Exactly @SharonEllis & @Ihatetomatoes & @BeHappySloth

It could be a positive thing - here's hoping that a deal can be done this time that rids the people of Gaza from Hamas.

More information on the plan from Axios:

Driving the news: The sources said the US. principles presented in the meeting were variations of ideas that have been discussed over the last six months, and updates to ideas developed by Trump's son in law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The main principles are:

  • The release of all remaining hostages.
  • A permanent ceasefire.
  • Gradual Israeli withdrawal from all of the Gaza Strip.
  • A post-war plan that includes a governing mechanism in Gaza without Hamas.
  • A security force that would also include Palestinians but also soldiers from Arab and Muslim countries.
  • Arab and muslim funding for the new administration in Gaza and for reconstruction of the enclave.
  • Some involvement of the Palestinian Authority.
The sources noted that Trump asked the Arab and Muslim leaders for their support of these principles and their commitment to take part in the post-war plan for Gaza.

The other side: According to two sources, the Arab leaders presented Trump with several conditions for supporting his plan:

  • Israel will not annex parts of the West Bank or Gaza.
  • Israel will not occupy parts of Gaza.
  • Israel will not build settlements in Gaza.
  • Israel will stop undermining the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
  • Humanitarian aid to Gaza will immediately increase.
Trump made it clear to the Arab and Muslim leaders that he would not allow Israel to annex parts of the West Bank, two sources said.
  • Politico reported first on Trump's pledge to prevent annexation.
  • At the end of the meeting, the Arab and Muslim leaders expressed support for the American principles and committed to taking part in the post-war plan, the sources said.

No mention of the release of detainees in Israeli jails ???

Very odd
Thats been accepted in every other ‘deal’.

It sounds good ( nothing radical or unusual just plain common sense that we’ve all been thinking for years )
but it’s not Netanyahus plan. Hopefully boycotts and pressure will make him change them.

Twiglets1 · 24/09/2025 19:18

Who knows maybe we will all be celebrating soon on both sides 😄

Come, come Sharon.

Everyone has to adhere to their entrenched viewpoints and be completely unwilling to accept something from a side that they don’t 100% agree with.

No drawing lines under things and trying something different. Black or white, for or against.

It’s the only way this conflict will be resolved.

Are they still being all state-like?

I’m a bit confused. Hamas are not reasonable people (to put it extremely mildly). Why would they agree to give back the hostages in this plan? And then to give up any pretence at governing Gaza? They aren’t going to go “how lovely, an independently governed Gaza, this is all we’ve wanted so now we can disband.”

To be clear, obviously I think both those things should happen - Hamas should return the hostages and should not be in any position of power. I’m just not sure why they would agree? Am I missing something? They don’t seem to be getting anything - again, I’m not saying they deserve anything, but from their point of view wouldn’t they keep the hostages until they got something?

I’ve probably missed something.

Too right, Its almost as if some people don't actually want it resolved. All that give and take is so colonialist, or something.

I don't have the answer ... but it's possible they are so weakened that they are coming to the end of the road & will walk away with assurances that they will be given safe passage to leave Gaza with their families ... we can but hope.

"Enclave" an interesting word.
Its synonyms are reservation, preserve, sanctuary.

Not as bad a "camp", but not as good as "country"

Yes I wondered if there might be a sort of deal like that. And that maybe that side of it perhaps wasn’t being put in the press releases, not to keep it secret exactly, but just not highlighting it.

SomeWomanSomewhere · 24/09/2025 20:11

The Axios summary is about what one hears.

Also, and this might be crucial: supposedly Arab states are demanding in exchange:

  • no Israeli annexation (they primarily mean the West Bank here; various reports now say this has US buy-in, but that can all change once Netanyahu makes it to NYC)
  • no new settlements (this is likely to be a deal-breaker for Israel, whose governing coalition is heavy on settlers. Also: Netanyahu has just publicly doubled down on them)
  • protection of Al-Aqsa’s status (this arguably means the Waqf; Arabs are VERY serious about this one. So are Ben-Gvir and, to a lesser degree, Smotrich).

My personal take is: whatever Trump says is tentative until it happens. We are talking about the man who has just gone from "Ukraine needs to be open to territorial concessions" to "it can conquer it all back". He's capricious and volatile and I wouldn't bet a fiver on anything he says.

No
It was of Palestinians finding the remains of family in bits

Then interviews with doctors talking about lack of…..well everything ! Amputations with just paracetamol for example.

In the past there has been agreements re releasing detainees as part of a swap. That’s not on the cards here

However Hamas agreed to step down before so I’m not convinced that would be an issue as long as Israel pulls out and has zero control of Gaza in the future
Including the coastline for example
I’m guessing this will be part of the suggestion.
