Conflict in the Middle East

Gazan GHF workers left to die at hospital where Doctors Without Borders is.

As stated by GHF spokesman Chapin Fay in the below interview with Channel 4 new presenter Krishnan Guru Murthy.

At 7.30 minutes in the video, Mr Fay stated 9 local workers were murdered and the 20 injured were refused treatment at Nasser hospital, where Doctors Without Borders were, and left to die in the courtyard.

These were Palestinians!

Why was there no outcry about this? It seems that they were refused treatment because they were working for GHF. That is shocking.

It was interesting that Mr Fay said GHF is funded by the US as well as several donor countries from Europe who don’t wish to be named.

The whole interview was an absolute car crash and the presenter was totally unprofessional and disgustingly rude IMO, sitting in a comfy newsroom while firing allegations at an organisation who’s workers are at massive risk, getting death threats, and are actually being killed for trying to get free (as it should be) aid to Palestinians and from the response from a lot them at the sites, they are needed.

I think it’s pretty obvious why there has been conflict outside of the aid centres TBH.

I commend Mr Fay on his patience I have to say.

A disgusting smear attempt from Channel 4.

I wonder if Guru Murthy will take up the offer to go into Gaza himself.

It also begs the question of why there are no children without medical conditions displaying signs of starvation

Evidence please, given that 13,000 Gaza children were treated for malnutrition in the month of July 25 alone I don’t think anyone has gone through the tens of thousands of hospital admissions and checked whether all the children do or don’t have pre-existing medical conditions and found that 100% do. In addition, an important question is in those that do have a medical condition, it would be relevant to ascertain whether their medical condition(s) cause or contribute to malnutrition or are as a result of malnutrition itself or have no impact are not related at all.

We’ve chatted on here enough for me to know that you really look into things and are very keen to find the truth, as I am. I mean this totally sincerely.

So when we then talk about uncovering the ‘truth’ as to why these children are so thin, is there not a whole load of non-photographic evidence that people are not getting the food they need in Gaza? Do we need to get into the reeds like this about a photo and distract from the main issue when we know there isn’t enough food? We know it’s been totally cut off and then a tiny amount is going in. We know that the aid hubs are not enough for that many people, we know that members of the Israeli government have called for this very situation. we know that numerous charities/NGOs have said it is desperate.

If this was the only info we had and it turned out to lack important context, I would totally understand the focus on it and it being central to the discussion but it isn’t all we have to go from. It is merely a distraction from the most important issue which is that more needs to be done to feed these people.

I’m sure you know by now that I am a stickler for people backing stuff up when they present it as fact and I really do agree that journalists need to be really mindful of what imagery they are using especially after the last few weeks but I have seen so many of these chats take over discussions like we’re uncovering some great conspiracy. Meanwhile, people aren’t getting the help they need.

The facts are not in doubt.

We know from GHF themselves that they are not providing enough food. Posters willing agree the loot is being looted by people- one has claimed over 90%

We know that Israel has had a blockades in place and in between times, the aid never returned to usual levels.

To be fair most posters have accepted that there must be hunger and indeed starvation.

It is shame that we have got stuck on one picture of a child with a medical condition. The fact is that the sums suggest feeding their children is likely to be “problem” for many families in Gaza.

PaxAeterna · 17/08/2025 14:46

Scraping the bottom of the barrel with the starving children conversation. Children with medical conditions die first.. you need to look at photographs in the context of all the reports from various sources about malnutrition. It’s not complicated. Even if you look at the meagre amounts of aid that GHF have themselves said they distributed. It’s obvious that starvation would be setting in.

I ageee @SummerFeverVenice . GHF were set up in combat zones. This is all very predictable .

As usual these discussions turn nasty when it's so unnecessary.

@Stripes56 I've asked you nicely not to bring my family into this so I will assume that is the end of it unless you want to cause an argument and get reported. It's very different to you mentioning your own family.

@PinkBobby no one is saying Maryam "doesn't count" because she has a medical condition, what we are saying is this should be made clear when her image is being used. Otherwise it's exploitation of a sick child.

There is no "glee" in pointing out her siblings look a healthy weight, what we are trying to do is establish the truth. The first time I saw photos of skeleton thin children posted in mainstream media I took them at face value. Now the UK public are being made aware that most of these children have underlying health conditions. That doesn't make they don't count and I don't doubt that malnutrition and lack of access to the special food or formula they need is making their health conditions worse. Nevertheless, let's be honest about it.

Yes let’s be honest, it’s seems it is ok for Israel to starve babies and vulnerable children to death by barring the entry of infant formula and special foods but not ok to starve perfectly healthy children to death.

Why does it even matter?! These are still children that are being starved to death due to Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid that are entirely illegal and unwarranted.

@Stripes56

👏🏿
The facts speak for themselves.

UNWRA has not been allowed to bring any humanitarian aid into Gaza, including medicines and medical supplies, for more than five months now (since 2 March 2025).

As reported by OCHA, and according to the Nutrition Cluster, almost 13,000 new admissions of children for acute malnutrition treatment were recorded in July 2025: over 2,800 cases were found to be suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) (22 per cent). The most severe cases of children suffering from SAM with complications, who need to be hospitalized and treated in stabilization centres, have also increased, with 129 cases in July alone compared with 215 cases between January and June.

  • UNRWA’s latest Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC)-based findings show that malnutrition has reached 21.5 per cent in Gaza City, meaning nearly one in five young children is now malnourished.
  • On 10 August, Save the Children stated that the reported death of 100 children due to starvation in Gaza since October 2023 is a “devastating milestone that shames the world and demands long overdue urgent action,” and highlighted the devastating, long-term health repercussions of acute malnutrition on children.
  • With minimal food assistance, people in Gaza, particularly the most vulnerable, keep facing hunger and malnutrition, while having exhausted all coping mechanisms.

The health response in Gaza continues to face severe operational challenges, including extensive damage to health facilities, killing of medical workers, obstacles to safe movements within the Gaza Strip, and restrictions on the entry of medical supplies and critical fuel. This is forcing the few remaining hospitals to ration resources and/or suspend critical services.

  • As also reported by OCHA, for over five months since 2 March, UNRWA’s primary healthcare services have been severely disrupted due to UNRWA’s inability to bring in lifesaving medicines and medical supplies, critical shortages of fuel, and obstacles to safe movements. At present, nearly 60 per cent of essential medicines (56 out of 95 items) are out of stock at these health facilities, including antihypertensive drugs, oral antibiotics for adults, antiparasitic products, and iron supplements for children, while 12 per cent (11 items) are only available to cover one month of needs. Moreover, over the past week, limited fuel supplies have forced some UNRWA health centres to operate one shift instead of two.
  • Shortages of medicines, fuel and basic infection control materials are having devastating consequences for patient care. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) patients, including those with diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, are increasingly unable to access their prescribed treatment due to depleted stocks, which will have serious repercussions on their health.
  • As reported by UNRWA Director of Health, due to the prolonged siege on aid and supplies, there is a critical shortage of life-saving medicines like insulin. People with type one diabetes, including children, in Gaza, need insulin every day to stay alive. Even when these become available, patients with diabetes are still at risk, as sometimes, insulin works too strongly, causing hypoglycemia, a drop in blood sugar that can lead to unconsciousness and even death. Yet with just a bit of sweet juice, candy, or sugar, it can easily be prevented or treated. However, shortages of basic supplies, including sugar, fruit, or exorbitant prices prevent stopping side effects of medications.
  • UNRWA has reported a weekly average of 10,300 infectious diseases cases, which are on the rise due to overcrowding, poor sanitation conditions, and limited access to clean water. Between 4 and 10 August, 9,915 infectious diseases cases were detected, with acute respiratory infections and watery diarrhoea being the most reported diseases across all areas and a growing number of cases of acute bloody diarrhoea being observed, particularly in Al Mawasi area of Khan Younis. A total of 76 cases of Guillain Barre Syndrome were reported as of 7 August, with no medications available for treatment.
  • UNRWA warns that without adequate medical supplies, primary healthcare response is undermined, leaving thousands of chronic disease patients and those suffering from communicable illnesses without life-saving support and heightening the risk of a large-scale public health crisis.

If Israel wanted to starve anyone to death this would have been over 2yrs ago.

Blame the terrorists who are nicking it, eating it and selling it. They don't care about their people suffering as some people in the West are happy to lap up all their 'blame Israel' PR.

Takes a while to starve a nation to death can't be done overnight, they had to destroy the bakeries, the water desalination plants, by November 2024 they had managed to kill 90% of the cows and 70% of the crops . Oh and shoot people going for aid might discourage them.

But I'm sure they will manage it soon.

You must mean the Shabab ‘terrorist’ gangs hired by Netanyahu to steal the aid? So you blame him and are saying he isn’t anyone influential in Israel at all then?

I am sure you aren’t referring to the desperate hungry people chasing down aid drops or massing around an a lorry with food?

If that is the case, and considering the undeniable fact that Palestinian children have been exploited for propaganda purposes since the beginning of this war, I would expect a flood of SM pics of these children sufferings.

Let me be it very clear, that I do not WISH to see these children suffer, in fact I am very glad that we have not seen children without medical conditions like muscular dystrophy which cause emancipation, in that state but going on the way this war has been fought, there would be more pictures than those of children with pre existing conditions.

Thought I’d highlight the above paragraph before I get accused of wanting to see children suffering.

Really? You know that Israel destroyed the phone networks and internet so the only people with access to the internet are those that have extra money to pay for an eSIM and have the ability to charge their phones while living in tents with no electricity, no running water, no food and no toilets.

The people who are starving don’t have access to SM. 🫣
The people with money for food, access to electric and time to go on SM aren’t the ones starving.

That’s why the reports are mostly coming from Doctors and Journalists from inside field clinics and hospitals- the ones that aren’t murdered yet.

So still no evidence that NONE of the tens of thousands of children admitted to hospital for malnutrition in Gaza over the war have/had a pre-existing medical condition?

Can you just confirm then that you don’t believe Hamas is stealing aid when that is their revenue stream and also enables control and cooperation of civilians?

Why do you think they have tried to discredit and shut down the GHF?

Do you really think hungry civilians would be able to chase down and take a lorry with armed terrorists riding on top of it?

I mean come on, try to sound a little sincere at least.

Wow, ooh you are clever!

You’re saying that the reason pics of starving children have not flooded the internet as they certainly would have if there were any, is because very conveniently, Israel has just now destroyed the phone networks which have worked perfectly well in flooding SM of everything else that is alleged to have gone on in Gaza?

I believe the UN and other humanitarian organisations that have stated there is no evidence that Hamas as stolen anything more than a tiny amount of aid. Certainly not enough to make a difference. There is no evidence that allegation by Israel that the famine in Gaza is caused by the looting of aid rather than the verified facts that no where near enough aid has gone into Gaza for almost 2yrs straight.

The many videos of armed men on aid trucks (which is normal as these trucks have security) do show them being swamped and overrun by hungry people OR the videos show IDF firing on the aid convoy or they show the Israel hired ISIS Shabab terrorists attacking and looting the convey (this was even admitted by Netanyahu as fact). There are far more videos of this than the ones alleged to show Hamas rather than the armed ISIS criminals Netanyahu hired to loot the aid.

That is why there were numerous massacres when aid trucks were going in for most of 2024. The aid seekers were being shot up by IDF or by Shabab. Maybe some by Hamas.

The current reports show the vast majority of looting has happened AFTER Israel took humanitarian aid away from the UN and started to use their GHF set up. Looting has gone from less than 3% to 86% in May…hmm?

Thank you @SummerFeverVenice
The details of your post highlight the dangers of malnutrition compounding poor medical facilities and medication. The vaccination program for children is also a concern.

There are already concerns that direct deaths from the war are bing under-reported, but there also concerns about indirect deaths through malnutrition and disease that we don’t see in the figures for those who have been killed/ died.
