A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

They could have done- but this message was prompted by the anger related to the killing of a footballer.

Particular people become a face for tragedies, like the doctors’ family that were killed in Gaza. It’s not that any life is more valuable than others, but thinking about individuals makes the killing more relatable.

We will never know enough about the over 60,000 Gazans killed. It would be impossible.

There was a radio report this morning that made me question Hamas propaganda.

Maybe journalists now entering will give more reliable information.

I really think Israel were damned if they did, damned if they didn’t on that.

They know a lot of Western journalists hold anti-Israel bias. They also know Hamas will use them for their own sick propaganda purposes. They also know these terrorists are not a normal army who have any regard to civilian life or act within normal rules of engagement. They could kill journalists themselves and blame Israel as well of course.

I think a big concern was journalists being embedded with the IDF and giving away locations or military information which shows the level of trust Israel has with Western media, quite validly, as can be seen from the reporting so far.

I agree, we will never know how many of them were civilians. Doesn't the Hamas Ministry of phantom numbers like to include its operatives in its reported fatalities?

Thank you for your reasoned posts. Breath of fresh air.

Zionism is the commitment to creating a Jewish state in Palestine.

I think it affirms the Jewish right to self determination in the home of their ancestors.

Small but important difference, your use of 'creating' could imply that its a recent creation- rather than where they originally came from thousands of years ago.

I agree Hamas will use anything for propaganda.

Please look at independent studies - neither by Hamas not stats from Israel, which show that most people killed are children and women. If you have not already seen them on this board, I can direct you to the studies.

Where do the stats come from, before they are analysed?

I thought the latest stats showed most were fighting aged men?

If you want to believe Israel is deliberately carrying out an act of complete self sabotage and self harm to it’s own country and citizens, as well as Jewish people globally (which is a total contradiction to its history), you could say it is deliberately targeting women or children and letting the whole world know.

Or you could see a much more horrific and sinister pattern, which actually aligns with Hamas’s history, proven tactics and what they admit themselves, and is that these fighting age men are surrounding themselves with women and children and forcibly putting them in the firing line/bombing areas, as human shields, and probably killing them themselves either accidentally or deliberately, which is totally unpalatable to those who see them as a legitimate resistance force fighting an oppressive regime.

Unless they’re direct from Netanyahu’s mouth you won’t believe it anyway

Who arranged and carried out that study?

It was carried out during the war and to Palestinian households in Gaza who are obviously going to say what Hamas had told them to say.

Hamas would have been aware of the study if it took place in Gaza?

Sorry not going to open the link as there’s nothing in the name of it to say where it’s from.

I’ve shown you evidence of the genocide occurring multiple times and you refuse to acknowledge it because it’s not from a source you like.

What you mean is that you object to UEFA saying that the Israeli government should stop killing kids and civilians. Not ‘becoming political’ but expressing an opinion you dislike

That would make it easy for you, wouldn’t it?

Sorry to disappoint you. Whether I agree with their politics or not is academic.
Imagine how many young people UEFA are able to influence premised on their platform - which is NOT for politicisation. They have an enormous responsibility to remain impartial - they have abused the responsibility and forever tarnished their impartiality.

@LifeOfAShowGirl you really only want posters to agree with you. That's not how forums work.

No - I want you to consider sources that don’t agree with your world view.

Football fans aren't interested in political messages. They didnt take too kindly to the bending of the knee a few years back. I'm sure the Spurs fans really loved looking at the advertising campaign slogan. Propaganda has now become commercialised.

MyNameIsX · 14/08/2025 20:45

From UEFA’s own Safety & Security Regs.

Article 44 Political action

44.01
The promotion or announcement, by any means, of political messages or of any other political actions inside or in the immediate vicinity of the stadium is strictly prohibited before, during and after the match.

Rank hypocrisy….

Agreed.

I’m confident there’s some internal strife within UEFA currently…

They could have done - but this message was prompted by the anger related to the killing of a footballer

A former Israeli footballer was murdered by Hamas on October 7 - celebrating his 43rd birthday, so a very similar age to the Palestinian footballer (41);

11 October 2023
In a 142-word statement from European football's governing body postponing Israel's upcoming matches there was a glaring omission.

It did reference the "current security situation in Israel".

But at that point - 36 hours after the surprise Hamas attack on Israel - UEFA omitted any reference to the hundreds killed in Israel or condolences to its member nation reeling from an unprecedented massacre.

A nation hosting the UEFA under-19 European championship in 2027.

A nation whose football community is mourning the death of a former player Lior Asulin - murdered by Hamas gunmen at the music festival close to the Gaza border.

By contrast, UEFA took only a few hours last month to announce on a non-member nation: "Victims of the tragic earthquake in Morocco to be remembered at all upcoming national team and club competition matches."

In 2016, condolences were swiftly sent to France after UEFA said it was "deeply saddened by the terrorist attack which occurred in Nice"...

There you go.

Speaking of blood-letting, the UEFA Exec Committee will doubtless see some heads roll following this.

Rightly so.
