Hamas underestimate deaths of Palestinians

Some posters insist that Hamas figures for deaths cannot be trusted. However 2 recent studies show that the figures are an underestimate by 40%.

A recent study that surveyed 2000 households covering a population of 10,000 people. This concluded that by Jan 2025, 75,200 people had died - most secondary to Israeli munitions.

At that point, the figure from Hamas run health ministry was that 45,500 Palestinians had died.

4% of the population of Gaza has been killed- at an incredibly fast rate. That would equal nearly 360,000 for a city the size of London, nearly 3,000,000 if take the UK as a whole.

The extent of excess deaths is projected to significantly rise.

Are you also worried about the number of Druze being massacred in Syria or what is going on in the Sudan? If you read the article it states that the research hasn’t been peer reviewed ie verified by other experts. As with everything on the Internet, you have to consider the source that you are reading. For example, Haaretz is a left wing newspaper.

The true number is wholly underestimated and has been for months.

Whole buildings have been hit and collapsed. There's little to no equipment or people to rescue those under the rubble.

Also nature, its been reported that animals are eating corpses [Trigger warning].

is an underestimate of 63%.

This puts the overall deaths of Palestinians at more like
95,000 deaths.

I assume this doesn’t include a lot of the journalists either.

Im also assuming the area surveyed isn’t one of the heavily bombed areas. How could anyone possibly survey that. So even this number may well fall far short of the reality of this war and the lengths Netanyahu will go to get this piece of land for Israel

It’s really shocking - and Israel are sending in bulldozers and demolition people to clear parts of the Gaza strip. I wonder what they plan to do with bodies of those poor souls buried under the rubble.

I don’t imagine they will be given proper burials.

Someone posted an advert some time ago of Israel advertising jobs for contractors to bulldoze Gaza. I don’t recall seeing any info on specialist knowledge required to retrieve the dead. The truth will be hidden

The percentage of children and women killed is double other conflicts at 56%.

Israel has stated that the death rate for innocents vs combatants is low at 1:1.

The link suggests it’s more like 4 civilians to 1 combatant. 80% civilians.

The figure is astounding - the historical average for urban warfare is 50%

the IDF and Netanyahu clearly pay no attention to who they are killing at all or this marked difference @Stripes56 with other countries wouldnt be so.

It also falls in line with the words of the Israeli Government on what they think of Palestinians

and the words of at least one Mumsnet poster who stated only the children are innocent

I can't understand and get my head around how the vast majority of the Israeli population think it's good to kill and starve children.

If you dehumanise people you can do anything to them. The Palestinians are regarded as vermin and their eradication is necessary, their status as human beings, meaningless. How anyone's mind can get to that stage is difficult to comprehend.
