A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

If they admitted that they find the message “stop killing children” to be offensive because they want to see the total destruction of Gaza.

No I don’t think that’s right

Yes.

Go on, then...tell us.

What a shameful thing to say.

There is no analogy to draw, and you know it.

What? The poster im responding to stated that “poppies aren’t allowed in stadiums”, which is absolutely wrong.

UEFA have absolutely no place taking a political stance.

It’s a slippery slope.

Is it? Today it's stop killing kids, tomorrow it might be what?! End world hunger maybe or save the rainforests?

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 18:57

Dangermoo · 14/08/2025 18:53

Zionism is the commitment to creating a Jewish state in Palestine.

Is it politics to stay ‘stop killing children’ or basic humanity?

Basic humanity is caring about all people - including hostages.

Yes, it is when you're being bank rolled by rich arabs.

Thegreyhound · 14/08/2025 19:01

MyNameIsX · 14/08/2025 18:52

Wrong.

Many of us object to UEFA becoming political and abusing their platform to do so.

Completely unacceptable.

What you mean is that you object to UEFA saying that the Israeli government should stop killing kids and civilians. Not ‘becoming political’ but expressing an opinion you dislike

Israel are killing children.

Children have died in every war in history sadly and horrifically.

Children are dying right now in other wars.

Hamas started this war, then hides among civilians and children as a tactic to save themselves and refuses to surrender. It wants the death of Palestinian children to create outrage at Israel.

The IDF has taken more steps to avoid civilian casualties than any other army in history.

www.newsweek.com/israel-has-created-new-standard-urban-warfare-why-will-no-one-admit-it-opinion-1883286

Imagine if the death toll if they hadn’t with Hamas’s documented use of human shields, which is also unprecedented for any government, especially one which started a war they knew they could not win so it’s own citizens and their children could be used in this way.

stratcomcoe.org/cuploads/pfiles/hamas_human_shields.pdf

Hamas knew exactly what they were doing and still do.

It is evil beyond comparison.

Yes indeed, caring about people equally, not believing that some lives are worth more

Too little too late UEFA.

Remember how Nazi Germany used the Berlin Olympics to show their determination.

People supported that genocide too.

Similar to the ones supporting this one.

Or describing hostages as being gold, in worth. I doubt they feel that. I doubt the poor bugger digging his own grave feels like gold, right now.

Why is it too late? Qatar chose the Spurs game to deliver its message. Free Palestine would have been a bit too obvious though.

Gloriia · 14/08/2025 09:58

I can't see 'release the hostages' or 'fuck hamas' is there another banner?

The thing is Gloria that is a message by a football association has been prompted by the death of a talented footballer.

If it was a general message, not in this context, about was happening in the Middle Eas, then I agree it should include need to release hostages and for Hamas to disband.

I actually dont think the messaging from UEFA is specific enough- I think it should reference aid to the Palestinians to make it more targeted to the situation in which this footballer died.

Have the Israel Football association said anything about suffering of Palestinians? Or, please do share, if you are aware of any major Israeli cultural or sporting organisation, that is also highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The IDF are shooting at people as they try to get aid.

Why would they do that? To make themselves more of a pariah State? To lose allies, be further sanctioned, be prosecuted for war crimes, to tank their own economy, put their own citizens and Jewish people at more risk from antisemitism/Israel hate?

Jewish people in general are pretty intelligent and successful. They know Palestinians have access to cameras, internet, social media and media outlets and will tell everyone what they’re allegedly doing with evidence if they have it.

They could be more successful in carrying out a genocide by killing more Palestinians in one go instead of dragging it out for two years and shooting them here and there and also risking soldiers being on the ground. Would have saved $ billions as well in the cost of the war as well as thousands of soldiers lives just from not bothering to evacuate civilians when they bombed the hell out of Gaza.

They are already accused of genocide, they have nothing to lose.

Logic then dictates that is not Israel’s intention surely?

Gloriia · 14/08/2025 19:25

'The thing is Gloria that is a message by a football association has been prompted by the death of a talented footballer.'

People have been killed on both sides. A 'talented footballer' is no more worthy of banners than the next person.

'End the conflict in gaza' shouldve been their message, or at the very least include 'free the hostages' too.

Stripes56 · 14/08/2025 19:26

@Gloriia
Just as much there was no justification for 7/10, despite any grievances of Palestinians, nor does the fact that Hamas has hostages have anything to do with the killing of people collecting aid.

There was a radio report this morning that made me question Hamas propaganda.

Maybe journalists now entering will give more reliable information.

Just to add for those who want to jump on and accuse me of wanting that to happen,

Obviously I do not and I don’t think Israel does either.

I was using that as an example of the totally illogical accusations against Israel which make no sense if you consider them rationally.

And there you are. You think Israel should not exist?
