A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

No, I KNOW what that message was about and which billionnaires sponsor the team playing Spurs. Do you?

Oh, please

Why should the hostages be referenced directly? Dear god can’t you let young children being killed have one moment? In the same manner we could say why haven’t they referenced all the people killed that aren’t Hamas. Because despite what Israel says not everyone that lives or breathes in Gaza is Hamas.

Because the hostages count too. I cannot believe this needs saying.

This football organisation should have recognised all victims, their allegiances are so very obvious. We all know what they think and who they are directing their comments at. Maybe 'hamas stop starving your people' or would that upset the hamas big wigs in Qatar?

If they wanted to appear professional and impartial they should have said 'ceasefire in gaza' or similar. It's all so disingenuous this oh they meant all victims. No, they didn't. They were trying to please salah.

Erm should we introduce you to Danial Levy the chairman of Spurs for the last god knows how many years? Noticed how Son only came out with messages to stop the killing after he’d decided to leave the club.

I always think that there’s no way these threads will descend into chaos. But we now have people trying to say that “stop killing children” was a bad thing to say.

Well, if you really think that was all their message was I can't help you.

Anywayyy. For the majority though we understand exactly what they were getting at. And even though the hostages aren't 'made of gold' <still can't believe someone said that> this stupid footie club should've also said release the hostages.

CyberStranger · 14/08/2025 18:26

I think:

Stop Hamas from causing the deaths of children.
**
Hamas must surrender and release the hostages now.

would have been more apt.

What's the relevance of Levy?

UEFA do what their paymasters tell them to.

Israel are killing children.

Civilians are being killed as there is a conflict ongoing. The terrorists in gaza are doing nothing to protect their people, quite the opposite.

Nobody has said that. Qatar control UEFA. You think this message was a humanitarian one. A lot of people don't. It's just another part of the game. Suckers fall for it - others don't.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 18:39

I’d have a lot more respect for Zionists if they were just truthful about their beliefs.

What do you mean here? The pp seems to be direct.

MyNameIsX · 14/08/2025 18:45

UEFA have absolutely no place taking a political stance.

It’s a slippery slope.

If they admitted that they find the message “stop killing children” to be offensive because they want to see the total destruction of Gaza.

Again, football is an inherently political sport.

I am aware, but again, UEFA have no place in taking a stance.

I rather suspect there will be significant internal fallout from this stunt.

Wrong.

Many of us object to UEFA becoming political and abusing their platform to do so.

Completely unacceptable.

What a shameful thing to say.

There is no analogy to draw, and you know it.
