A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

Why should anybody have any respect for an overpaid footballer 😆 🤣

Yes who knew spelling a name wrong was disrespectful. I'd get it if I'd called him a derogatory name that sounded similar but nope. An incorrect spelling!

Because not only is he one of the best footballers on the planet, but he’s also face significant adversity. He has been vocal on Gaza since 2023.

It’s not hard to get a name right.
And why should the hostages be specially mentioned in the messaging? The hostages are not made of gold, they are not more special or singular than any other civilian.

Jesus.
The few hostages that are left have been through absolutely unimaginable trauma, for nearly 2 years, and this is how you speak of them.
I cannot believe you allowed that to drop from your fingers.

And the trauma of 800,00 Palestinians?

Did you want a trauma competition?

So what- so he gets ridiculously paid, for kicking a ball about. Is he going to ask his countrymen to open their border to Gaza?

Did you want a trauma competition?

That’s what you’re trying to turn it into.

Fucking awful post that was - particularly when one hostage is digging his own grave. Don't they show their true colours- eventually.

quantumbutterfly · 14/08/2025 15:46

So you're saying that all lives matter and there is nothing partisan in their sentiment. Just like Thom Yorke then.

No I think the statement ‘stop killing children stop killing civilians is fairly bland and broad and could easily be read as a call to ceasefire to prevent more civilian deaths on both sides.
However given the comparative numbers of civilian/child deaths on both sides, I can see how many see it as a criticism of the IDF and more pro-Palestine.

Yes because the right thing to do is displace nearly a million people instead of just not killing them. Imagine saying that you’re against a message calling for kids to not be killed

The right thing to do, would be for the man to stop being a hypocrite.

Apparently some people on here do

'No I think the statement ‘stop killing children stop killing civilians is fairly bland and broad and could easily be read as a call to ceasefire to prevent more civilian deaths on both sides.'

A better statement would be 'end the conflict in gaza'. We all know that.

This footie organisation's attempt to please Saleh is nothing to do with deaths on both sides. We'll have a 'free palestine' next.

Dangermoo · 14/08/2025 18:02

EasternStandard · 14/08/2025 17:53

It hasn't surprised me, really. It's quite often we see those calling for humanity and compassion, to come out with posts like that.

Salah. Stop using microaggressions.

It doesn't though does it. No mention of hostages.

This seems ro be an appeasement thing for Saleh's comments about a footballer killed in gaza? I may be wrong just seems a funny coincidence.

Why should the hostages be referenced directly? Dear god can’t you let young children being killed have one moment? In the same manner we could say why haven’t they referenced all the people killed that aren’t Hamas. Because despite what Israel says not everyone that lives or breathes in Gaza is Hamas.

UEFA trying to say the message wasn't political, while taking Qatar cash. Worst thing is Spurs fanbase is historically Jewish. This was done for a reason and it was naff all to do with humanity.

It’s so awful. I’ve been reading about their tortuous conditions today. Absolutely terrifying and abhorrent. And the ‘gold’ comment has no place when considering their reality due to Hamas.

It’s because children are being killed in Gaza. Are you really trying to say that the message “stop killing children” is anti semitic?

No, I KNOW what that message was about and which billionnaires sponsor the team playing Spurs. Do you?
