Conflict in the Middle East

How is forced starvation allowed?

1000 replies

Tinycatnoise · 23/07/2025 22:28

The top story in the BBC right now is the starvation of Gazans by Israel. The images are horrifying and not dissimilar to seeing those images of concentration camps in Nazi Germany. I cried seeing those and am crying now. I am sure someone will claim antisemitism because of this statement, but anyone looking at these images of starving children would agree.

How is this still going on? I feel like we are watching a genocide take place that the world has turning a blind eye to. The daily shooting by Israel of people trying to get aid too is just barbaric. If nothing is being done to stop this, what is the next horror that will unfold in the world that people will just accept?

You really don’t know why the UN would do that?

I think you’re the one who needs to engage your brain, hun.

The desperation now that journalists are in Gaza and they’re not repeating the narrative you want is palpable.

Which kind of journalist would you believe?

I believe the UN not some bloke called Chuck. I don't need a journalist in Gaza to tell me why the UN are having difficulties distributing aid when the UN themselves can tell me. It's common sense. Why would Chuck know more about the UN than the UN does?

The most upsetting part of your posts for me is that your username suggests you are a mother.

Yep, Mum of a number of wonderful, intelligent, caring teen and young adult kids. All have their own views on this conflict, which I have told them to research themselves.

All pro-Israel and horrified that supporting murdering, torturing, gang raping, baby kidnapping sub human terrorist scum has become mainstream.

The same Chick Holton who is a war correspondent for a far right American TV network. A network that took over a month to declare Biden as president, and spent the intervening time pedaling conspiracy theories.

Anyway, he was allowed into Gaza by the IDF and describes how he was embedded with the troops and got to talk with a 'public affairs guy'.

Not exactly unbiased independent reporting then 😂

Chuck not Chick! Well if being a Christian is 'far right' then I am guilty also, just as he is! Also just because he's associated with a news network doesn't mean he agrees with every last thing they promote.

I'm simply presenting some other views that people here may not have considered.

Israel is literally starving people to death and no one is prepared to stand up to them.
Nato should be giving them notice to stop the war immediately or they will step in to protect the Palestinian people.
Murdering scumbags hiding behind America

NATO? The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation? When did Gaza join?

I meant because as a mother I thought it would be impossible not to be moved by the images of small children starving to death.

It doesn't matter if Gaza are not in Nato. Nato has a duty to protect people being murdered. They did it in Kosovo in 1999 for the same reason. People were being starved to death

Not everyone in NATO would agree though.

And as much as I agree that the civilian population should be protected in Gaza, I think NATO getting involved would only make things worse in the Middle East generally.

There are lots of diplomatic and other forms of pressure that can be used before any talk of war.

I think Israel have had enough time to stop what is happening in Gaza.
Diplomacy will not work. Nato needs to do something even if it means war.

That it was Hamas not non-Hamas afiliated civilians that brutalised Shani Louk's body and celebrated it?

It wasn’t starving children that’s for sure

I think economic pressure would be the best place to go now. Not inflaming the Middle East with more war.

The EU and the UK need to stop nodding along with the US.

I don’t think you are really listening to people who are disagreeing with you. Have you ever thought to take a step back and view both Israel and Hamas as the ‘bad’ guys. And that a lot of innocent people are dying because neither side are acting with humanity?

People are horrified by the death of so many children and the images of children starving. Surely you can see that those children are not the ‘sub humans’ you describe. Or, I really hope they’re not as that shows a level of hatred toward children that is shocking. Being anti Israel doesn’t make you pro Hamas. But not accepting or choosing to not accept Israel’s role in the pain and suffering shows a lack of critical thinking. Something like 60% of buildings in Gaza have been destroyed, 1/5 children are malnourished. Yes, Hamas have played a significant role in this war but can you not see that Israel are not the ‘good’ guy? If terrorists are hiding under a school or a hospital, the ‘good’ guy doesn’t bomb it anyway and see human lives as ‘the cost of war’.

What has become mainstream (thanks to modern tech) is people seeing other people suffering (particularly children’s pain) and said that it is not acceptable. Israel can help the situation and probably will in the coming days now that those images have been shown worldwide. If and when this happens, it is another example of how Israel have allowed pain and suffering to happen and only step in when they realise the propaganda machine isn’t working as they hoped.

Madcatdudette · 24/07/2025 02:56

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve read.
11 million lost their lives during the holocaust,
Gaza is fucked because of Hamas.
Seems you lost hope in humanity before you’d blame Gaza’s terrorist government

What was the excuse before hamas existed?
I'd say they would be less fucked if they were given their land back or israel stopped starving them deliberately.

I'd say the same thing. Why would Charles know more about the UN than the UN themselves?

The fact that you decided to call me 'sneery' rather than actually address my post and tell me why Chuck would know more about the UN than the UN themselves says a lot really. Coming on to a post about forced starvation just to take a pop at someone, why?

@PinkBobby

@Anonimummy referred to Hamas as "sub human terrorist scum".

She did not refer to Gazan children as "sub humans" so you post is misleading when you say to her that "children are not the ‘sub humans’ you describe".

No one thinks the children are sub human but many of us think Hamas are.

Interesting take on what I actually said. To repeat my point, I said that what people are currently outraged about is how many children are suffering who are clearly not Hamas terrorists and that it is possible/rational to see both Israel and Hamas as the bad guys. I specifically said that ‘I hope’ that children don’t come under the incredibly dehumanising term ‘sub human’ title she used - I sought clarification rather than state that that is her view as I am trying to understand her perspective.

If someone describes the fight as ‘good against evil’ in this conflict, I feel I have to enquire how one can conclude that either side is ‘good’ when both have played such a significant role in the pain and suffering - the destruction of homes and infrastructure, the killing of innocent people and the blocking of aid.

Okay! Party's over. Let's get busy scrubbing Obama's mocacchino stain off of America!

Sounds like a lovely chap. His work for National Rifle Association TV puts him in a perfect position to care so much about childrens deaths (because they cause so many). Oh and he' s a big fan and regularly retweets Stephen Molyneaux (far right nationalist) .

If he's the type you have on your side you may be better off alone

Why would children come under the sub human term that @Anonimummy used specifically to refer to Hamas terrorists?

They have explained that they have children of their own.

1 in 2 children in Yemen are starving. Why is no one shouting about this?

But why would you need to clarify? Who on earth is describing children as scum, or would possibly think that?

Edit: as sub-human. Whatever the term was.
