There is no clean water left in Gaza

There is currently no access to safe drinking water in Gaza. Families are being forced to drink contaminated water from sewage or agricultural runoff.

This is a man-made humanitarian catastrophe- not a natural disaster. This isn’t just a crisis, it’s a form of collective punishment.

Gaza faces a man-made drought as water systems collapse, UNICEF says

GENEVA (Reuters) -Gaza is facing a man-made drought as its water systems collapse, the United Nations' children agency said on Friday. "Children will begin to die of thirst ... Just 40% of drinking

@MNHQ I’d be interested to know why posters actively calling for violence against innocent civilians are able to have their posts stand and those calling it out are removed silenced

Aww so it’s okay for Hamas to use violence but not Israel?
Why do you think Hamas’ record of slaughter is okay but Israel defending itself isn’t?

I didn’t say that so stop putting words in my mouth. Anyone who knows me from other threads knows that I have consistently called the actions of Hamas what they are and that is atrocities. What I’m saying is that collective punishment and starvation of children is not “Israel defending itself” it’s war crime.

It is very sad but why Hamas don't release the israelian hostages? Hamas could stop all of this but they don't care about the suffering of their own people.

They won't release them because the hostages keep the pot boiling. Their 'mission' in attacking Israel was to provoke a massive reaction in the Arab world. Releasing the hostages would mean that peace talks could start. Israeli air raids suit Hamas's purposes just fine.
Now we're seeing those terrible pictures of starvation victims. The world is turning on Israel and that suits Hamas's purpose too. The PR is first rate.

Perhaps they're paying for membership.

Oh your faux outrage is hilarious.
Why are you not blaming Hamas then? Why do you insist it’s Israel’s fault?

Constantly baiting others. Is this a recognised technique or have you gone rogue? I suppose anything goes now.

I agree. Making Israel the enemy seems to be more acceptable than turning the spotlight onto Hamas

In case they don't reply, let me try to help.

We are all allowed to express opinions on here, even if those opinions are controversial or very different from what others believe on the same thread.

What we aren't allowed to do is launch personal attacks at other posters. This is normally why posts get deleted and it's nothing to do with trying to silence anyone. It's to do with trying to keep MN a space where people can debate freely & without too many insults flying around.

Labelling this a a sensitive topic is subjective.
Not everyone feels the same way you know

You're cynical. It's nothing to do with who is or isn't paying for membership.

Thank you. Whilst I admit my opinions may be extreme to some. It’s not a personal attack on anyone, merely an opinion that refuses to see the crisis in Gaza is anyone but Hamas’ doing.

I take your point however i’d argue that laughing at a post about dead children and accusing a person of being a terrorist sympathiser is a pretty personal attack and pretty crass.

Oh behave. Laughing because you fail to comprehend that dead and starving babies are the fault of Hamas

This is what I cannot comprehend, how posts laughing at dead children is in any way in the spirit of a parenting forum. That particular poster has the majority of their posts removed for breaking guidelines so they are essentially allowing the poster to make posts that they know are going to break the guidelines by refusing to ban them.

You can’t comprehend the that some people are less bothered because Hamas are still in charge.
The sheer amount of antisemitism in the UK that comes from people who are Pro Palestine.
Do you not understand that if Hamas accepted the terms the kids would not be suffering so much.

But Israel broke every ceasefire …

Because Hamas refused to release all the hostages

Martymcfly24 · 24/07/2025 17:29

Well that's completely untrue. Hamas fulfilled the obligations for phase one but Israel did not want to move to the next phase which would have meant a more prolonged ceasefire so killed 400 people in one night by dropping bombs on sleeping children.

Even the families of the hostages were against breaking the ceasefire.

But why didn't Israel want to move onto the next phase? It was because they wanted Hamas to extend phase 1 to release more hostages.

On 1 March, the day the first phase of the ceasefire was scheduled to end, Hamas rejected an Israeli proposal to extend it to release more hostages.

Hamas said the second phase should proceed as originally planned.

Netanyahu's office said that Israel endorsed a US plan to extend the Gaza truce for the Ramadan and Passover periods. Under this plan, half of the living and dead hostages would be released on the first day of the extended truce and the remaining hostages would be released at the end of the period if a permanent truce was reached.

His office said that the initial deal allowed Israel to resume war at any moment after 1 March if negotiations were deemed ineffective.

Imagine how much suffering would have been avoided if Hamas had agreed to the proposal to extend the truce and if a permanent truce could have been reached at that point in exchange for all the hostages.

So when Israel bombs families, it’s ‘self-defence’, but when Palestinians resist occupation, it’s ‘slaughter’? Maybe the problem isn’t violence, it’s who you think deserves to be free.

Israel is committing war crimes. I absolutely condemn the events of October 7th, but that doesn’t justify the collective punishment of 2 million people. Blocking formula, fuel for incubators, and food deliveries isn’t self-defence. It’s deliberate, systemic starvation.

You’re right- Hamas remaining in power is a tragedy. But if your empathy for starving children depends on who governs them, that’s not justice, that’s conditional humanity. Aid is not being blocked by Hamas. It’s being bombed, delayed, and denied by Israel. And calling out war crimes isn’t antisemitism- it’s basic decency.
