There is no clean water left in Gaza

There is currently no access to safe drinking water in Gaza. Families are being forced to drink contaminated water from sewage or agricultural runoff.

This is a man-made humanitarian catastrophe- not a natural disaster. This isn’t just a crisis, it’s a form of collective punishment.

Gaza faces a man-made drought as water systems collapse, UNICEF says

GENEVA (Reuters) -Gaza is facing a man-made drought as its water systems collapse, the United Nations' children agency said on Friday. "Children will begin to die of thirst ... Just 40% of drinking

Did we provide water to Germany when we were at war with them?

Who do you think “we” are at war with?

Are you that ignorant of the situation to make such a ridiculous statement?

Google Geneva convention
Google international humanitarian law
Google responsibilities of an occupying power.

Everyone sees who and what Israel is now. They daren’t stop because in the silence that follows they will have to confront the truth.

Very portentous.

Yes. I can’t imagine how awful it would be to be an Israeli. How will they make this ok in their heads? Though honestly I can’t really comprehend how they are doing it all now. I can’t imagine hearing tens of thousands of children have been killed and thinking “but” anything. You always get someone saying “but Hamas” or “but Hostages” or whatever though.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 21/07/2025 08:00

What does Hamas have to do with Israel cutting off clean water to 2.2 million civilians? They’re not the ones controlling the crossings, bombing water infrastructure, or blocking fuel and aid trucks.

Even if you’re trying to destroy Hamas, it doesn’t justify war crimes against children and civilians. That’s the whole point of international law- it applies regardless of who the ‘enemy’ is.

Hamas being in power doesn’t give Israel a free pass to commit war crimes. Under international law, collective punishment, starvation, and targeting civilians or aid are illegal. ‘But Hamas’ won’t stand up in court.

Edited

Are you serious? What does Hamas have to do with it?

They're literally the government of Gaza, responsible for the wellbeing of everyone in Gaza, and refusing to give up the hostages and end the war.

It's hard to know what to say to posts like this. Children are drinking sewage riddled water, people are being executed if the so much as approach the sea, infrastructure has been bulldozed and bombed to make conditions incompatible with life. And people seem to be suggesting that Israel, their illegal occupiers shouldn't have to provide water to the people they have corralled into 10% of Gaza.

How on earth do people think they will be able to get water living in a tent surrounded by destruction with Israel controlling everything that enters Gaza? Is that what happened in Germany, were people trapped in small areas with no way to provide for themselves and 'we' said who cares that children are drinking sewage, it's not our job to help? That's not the history I was taught.

They are kids. Innocent little kids being purposefully deprived of water. Nothing else should matter.

Israel is the world’s 4th largest military power, backed by the US and with nuclear weapons. Gaza has no army, navy or air force. Framing this as Israel being on the brink of “annihilation” while nearly 20,000 children have been killed and families are drinking sewage water to survive is frankly obscene. The idea that releasing hostages would suddenly halt this assault ignores the stated intentions of Israeli officials and the reality on the ground.

Where do you get that Israel is the 4th largest military power? They're not.

Israel’s military is strong but has been significantly strained by the ongoing war, though it remains fully operational. Missile defence systems such as Iron Dome and Arrow are being used at an intense rate, severely depleting interceptor and ammunition stockpiles. The financial cost is staggering, with estimates suggesting daily war expenses of $725 million—and in some cases, exceeding $3 billion during operations against Iran. The sustained pressure has pushed it to the limits of its manpower and logistical capacity.

Gaza does have an army. It's lead by Hamas who have a military wing. Who very effectively performed a sophisticated invasion of Israel. They're currently hiding because they'd rather everyone else die.

Ome thing you are right about is that Gaza has no airforce, or navy. Thank God otherwise imagine what they'd have done with it.

Yes exactly - why is Egypt doing nothing as an un-involved by-stander in this war?

Well incorrect, “ending the war” can be done by either side and arguably much easier for it to be done by Israel given they are the ones on the long term wide scale attack.

Likely because Egypt's unpopular government is hanging on by a thread due to a trashed economy causing hyperinflation in Egypt and daily power cuts, everyone in Egypt is very fed up with them, and the influx of a load of refugees or any kind of armed conflict with anyone right now would be the tinder spark that would start a revolution that would topple them.

Egypt has a huge empty area called the Sinai Desert, which could easily be used as a temporary refugee camp. Much like all of Europe took in Ukrainian refugees.

Newnamesagain · 21/07/2025 15:09

@PaxAeterna Don't you dare put words like that in my mouth. I didn't say it's a solution because it isn't. It's a horrible situation that just festers for generations while more and more innocent people (on both sides) die. I asked what is a workable solution that gets us out of that situation because I am really struggling to see one while those driving what's going on now have a single drop of power and they seem too entrenched and numerous to stop.

I did not mean to put words in your mouth. I thought you were saying - well what else can they do.

I obviously don’t have all the answers. but Blinken and the latest Arab proposal had suggestions on how to move towards peace, a transitional governing structure, a political path towards a Palestinian state.

Any day after plan that involves Palestinian
s at this point would be progress from what we have.

Has any nation at war ever provided water, food and electricity to its enemy?

Here’s me thinking that Hamas was the enemy. People have been falling over on here to say that the Palestinian civilians are not being targeted.

Do you or dont you think that Palestinian civilians should be allowed access to food/ water/ medical treatment? Its a simple question, so yes or no will suffice.

Why are civillians in Palestine the enemy of Israel?

Twiglets1 · 21/07/2025 17:52

@Hodgemollar The way wars end is when the losing side surrenders, or both sides agree to a settlement. Or there is a regime change.

No one expects the winning side in a war to surrender.

Apart from you apparently because that would be "easier."

You're confusing 'the enemy' with legitimate military targets. When we were at war with Germany that's how we said it, not we're at war with the Wehrmacht.

Israel is at war with Gaza in the same way eg. 'Russia' is at war with 'Ukraine', however only combatants are legitimate targets.

Innocent civilians are not "the enemy" you are advocating for collective punishment which is a war crime. Israel control the borders and control what goes in and out, there are hundreds of trucks on the border with humanitarian aid (not funded by Israel) but Israel are blocking its entry and deciding what items can or can't go in.

The ignorance and inhumanity being expressed on this thread is shocking. What are you all suggesting? Let them starve? Let them die of dehydration not our problem? Vile

How do you think Palestinians view Israel? Zionist pigs (but only the government ofc)? Doubtful.
The war is with Gaza as far as I can see. Hamas are the government of Gaza. Similar to WWII we were at war with Germany, not just 'the Nazis'.
Of course that's a separate point to targeting civilians which of course is wrong and against international law.

Name me another war where the language used was army vs army instead of country vs country.

As to the aid trucks lie, I'll ignore.
